Tuesday May 24th Judson will have its inter-squad scrimmage at Judson Stadium. If you guys want to see how Judson is going to be next year, come on down and watch.

Let's see, you want us to come down to your stadium and judge what you guys got next year based on how friends do beating up friends in a little old spring game, that only serves to put the guys in a game situation, under the lights, and help the coaches look at specific guys for evaluation, especially underclassmen, and give the underclassmen a little experience under game conditions, so that their first experience isn't in August or September when it counts against the record?

Whew!!! the rediculous emphasis I've seen on this board about Spring Games and scimmages.

Call me back when your team plays somebody who doesn't care about your teams health, then maybe we can assess something.

A lot of people put stock into the wrong things. Such as how a player looks right now. A lot can happen over the summer. The kid might get lazy and gain 20 pounds of fat and lose muscle. I have seen it happen before. All the spring games and stuff are good - for the players to be in a game situation and for us fans to have something more to talk about, but let' wait until the lights come on that first Friday Night to see who is for real and who isn't.

With that being said, I would be surprised if Judson didn't come in either 1st or 2nd place in 26-5A.

I believe he is talking about the new style of offense, and not so much about any individual players.

What is the new style of offense?

You mean Judson isnt going to be like every other team in 26-5A and just try to run, run, run?

I heard they are going to more of a spread offense. Keeping in mind it could have been just a rumor. But we will see at the scrimmage.

The reason to see a Judson scrimmage this year would basically be to see the 2 main skill position players on offense, QB and TB. They are both question marks although the QB is a little less of one, but both can show a little about how they might do next year. Judson lives and dies by the run, and although they have won a title without a dominant TB, it sure does help. The TB's vision, speed, and quickness will all be the same during a scrimmage as a game situation - you just don't get a good feel for the power or strength of the back during a controlled scrimmage.

Headliner is right though, there is a lot of time between now and August. These aren't college players that are pretty much required to do an off season program, they might sit on their butts all summer or they might train wrong.

Sorry I wasn't very clear. I was talking about the new style offense, not the players.

Went to game last night. It was pretty impressive, lots of speed at every position. I mean they have fullbacks/tail backs/WRs/LBs/D-linemen/QBs that can flat out fly. The secondary could win a good share 4x100 relays. Watching the game was like watching a track meet.

Also, I saw lots of players keeping each other up for every down, and the coaching staff was everywhere, teaching and motivating. I'm new to TX and heard a lot about the Judson Rockets. I know it was just a scrimmage, thats what was scary. If the team is that fast and disciplined in May, by November it could be ugly for teams that lack team speed. Just my opinion

Why are you flipping out so much about people's importance on a spring game???

Everyone knows what a spring game is, everyone knows that it's the same team. It's just an excuse for everyone to see some live action of our favorite pastime...high school football.

YOU are the one who needs to calm down.

I was proud to say I attended one of the best spring games i have ever seen last night... Just the competitive spirit was flying last night... Although they were teamates... You could sense that they were gunning for the other teams heads... Here at Judson we dont care who you are if your on our team... If you are lined up in front of us we are gunning for your head... To say the least I feel we the Judson Rockets will have no trouble next year... Yes we may have some questions across the board but there is one thing Judson will have no trouble with... HEART!
I saw alot of that last night... With who I belive is the heart and soul of that team and defense Tony Harp (FS). He is a wondeful young man who has dedicated his time to be the best he can on and off the feild... He was all over the feild last night on defense... Nearly on or around every single tackle and pass break up... Look for him to have a break out senior campange. Next on this list of greats who should have a stand out year is Marquis DuBose (CB)... Both of these guys were starters on our semi final team last year... Mixed with great speed alot of heart and a work ethic unmatched they should be solid in our defensive backfeild. Sticking with a defensive theme... I saw that LB will be our biggest question mark next season... Outside linebacker Marcus Griffin showed the ability to step it up as he was around alot of stops... Hector Sobers is probably the best athlete out on the feild just hasnt gotten a chance to prove himself yet... Just his sure numbers look amazing, he has arms the size of some guys thighs... Then there is the good ol' D-LINE... Travis Houston is the best and brightest vocal point out of all... With out a doubt played the biggest role on defense during this game and even last year, as he stoped UT recruit Todd Walker... Houston had a wondeful play in final seconds of the spring game were he put the pressure on young Carl Boldin to throw the costly INT to seal the win for the Red Team....
Changing themes... We have my pride and joy... The Offense... Lets start with the postion I love and enjoy playing QB... Yes we have some talent there... Carl Boldin and Eddie Bermudez will put alot of pressure on the opposin teams DBs... Seeing how Judson has moved to a spread offense... In my persinol opinion Carl will get the nod at seasons start... More athletic then Eddie but not quit the same arm... Carl can be a little shakey wehn forced to throw on the run... Yet has the ability to beat ends and backers to the corners, Carl has the moves of a running back and the savey of a QB... Then we move to TB/FB... Look for Kevin Taylor and Alfred McDaniels to see there due share at the TB postion... KT did not play but Alfred did.. Showing the quickness of a another former Judson back... Kyle Fox... FB look for Junior Jose Mendoza to play the starting role there...Then we move to the outside... WR/TE... My baby boys... We have All World WR Derrick Williams(6'4" 190 lbs, 4.3) WR Oscar Lee(6'3" 190, 4.5)... These two are kinda like a double headed monster... Mix them with the two TEs...( 6'4" 195lbs) Daniel Gibson who did not play last season due to a knee injury suffered during last seasons spring game, and my fav offensive target... I mean look at these stats you would look for him also... TE Robert Housler ( 6'6" 195lbs, 4.4) With who i belive the most reliable hands on this years squad... I know cause I toss the ball around with him almost everyday... I belive had it not been for a few poorly thrown balls yesterday and one bogus non- pass intefrence call in the forthe "House" as we call him could have made a few more catches... House I say would have probably been the one who showed me the most on offense last night... Jabbing back and forth with Griffin the whole night and sticking up for his team-mates when someone would cheap shot them down... still being behind the othewr team after a good play... It was good to see him and Griff hug after the game in good spirits... Now we have the O-LINE... My Fatties as I call them... We return the big three... C Aaron Caudell(6'2" 225) OG Adolph Perez(6'2" 310) OT Marcus Diamondo(6'2" 310)... With each of these 3 guys benchin the the upper 300's... Caudell who as a sophmore set a Texas state Power lifting record in both bench press and dead lift... mix that in with OG Dominique Woods who runs a 4.7. We should have a solid O-LINE as usual....
In closing... I know I wrote alot... But its because I know alot... I have been in this prgram and played with all of these guys sense Middle School... Heck 90% of those guys were all apart of our 2 year undefeted un scored on middle school team... I know that dont mean much to yall but that is were it all starts in our kinda like farm systems... If you think I jus blew a bunch of bull up yalls butts you can all jus copy tese names down and wait and watch next year... They will all be hugh for us next season... J-ROC '06

Nice write-up, but dont hold back, tell us how you really feel about this team. I don't want you to get your hopes up after watching them take on each other, they btter look good. I bet Laredo Nixon looked good to their folks, but you won't have to wait long to see how you stack up CCove in the second game is wher the fun begins for you.

The FACTS are the FACTS and that is a FACT.

The refs from last year's game were very impressed with the Rockets team speed, especially on defense.
