I know the teams have their own pre-game rituals but what is/are your own personal one(s). Many of us have meals before games but how many of us go to certain restaurants? For example, if my team is playing at Rhodes (regular or playoff season) I have to go to Los Cucos in town...something about that big Katy logo giving me a staredown while I'm eating my tostada just makes me want to watch some football!!
Let us hear about your pre-game or even post game (i.e. I go to Sonic!) experiences.

As a player, I would sneak off of campus for lunch and get a burger from PO's. Then win game time came around as we were stretching I'd pray and talk to my grandfather who passed away in `03 and flick up a piece of grass or turf to remember him. Something the team did every game was with tape create the word "win" and to the of that there were three crosses and as we're walking out to actully go play the game everyone touches the crosses and the "win". And probably the weirdest ritual I had was the socks. During the first half my socks are always inside out, then at half time I turn them around to wear them right side out.
Now as a spectator, I don't really have any yet.

When I was a trainer at Aldine, we use to go to the far end zone and pray in a circle over the Mustang logo. Since they redid the turf, and they removed the four school's logos, we went to the "A" in AISD, since we were Aldine. I also had a spirit towel my sophomore year (1996), that I didn't wash because we kept winning. After the Humble game (we lost 14-17) I washed it, and then didn't wash it again until after the Westlake game. As a spectator, the only ritual that I have it to sit up even with the band so I don't have to hear them that much...Aldine's band sucks.

We always get the gang together and grill something out before the game. Usually some beer and brats. Then we go real early, watch the warm ups. After the game, somewhere for some frosty adult beverages.

My friends, family and some of their family all go to eat at the Snuffers on Preston Road. Great burgers and cheese fries. Then it's off to the game, home or away.

I used to spend the afternoon helping get the Concession ready for the game. Now that I have a shop, I guess The Husband will take over that responsibility for good and I will take over his job of jumping in the car at the last minutes just in time to arrive for the kickoff!
That and finding out where the locals hang out at Away games so I can show up in Dawg finery......
Don't rly have a pregame ritual, to busy trying to show up as early as posslbe and not loose my job lol. But i bought my first Lufkin hat in 2001 about midseason and wore it to every game through state. after the 2002 loss to tyler lee I accidently left my hat in the stands and had to buy a new one. Lufkin hadnt suffered a regular season loss since then till last year. So After the loss to longview last year i bought a new hat :D

The last time I gave my ritual two years ago - people found it so disturbing I vowed never to do it again.
It actually involved wearing the same garb game after game if we keep winning, and some mistook that to mean all the way down to the undies - which Ms. Favpack swears is not true - well at least they get laundered anyway.

1. I go to Pretzel time to have a pretzel.
2. I post here and tell CFMom and CFB2 how much their district sucks.
3. I get to the game early and sit at the top row.
4. I never buy my ticket at the school. I pay the extra buck and buy it at the gate. (won't do it for the Cinco or the Kingwood game at Reliant this year though) I don't sit in the pansy arse reserved section at Moorehead, the ones with the backrests Even if the ticket I have lets me, I'll still go to General Admission section.

Bar B Q with the boys about 2 hours before the game...enter 30 minutes early to get a good seat, set stuff down etc...watch warmups...go back out to the car and have a little quiet time to myself then go have the greatest times of my life.

Sounds like me - I am usually one of the first through the gate and many times am there before the gate even opens. I like to watch warmups too. Post-game - well that new Sonic next to Berry will be getting a lot of post-game attention this year - hope they are ready! The one on Hwy 6 is usually loaded with Falls fans after a game...nothing like a Cherry Limeade to end the evening - or start it up for me because I'm usually online after a game for a few hours:rolleyes:

Before every game I......
Make sure I go coo coo for Coa Coa Puffs
Call 5 friends and claim I wrote the script for Honey I Shrunk the Kids
Sit around for 2 hours and Considered what living in Castle Greyskull would do for my sex life
Stretch my Groin.
Program in Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff" as my ringtone.
Hot glue gun a bunch of my old cross country trophies into one huge trophy
Put a pledge pin on my uniform
Throw a fit
Write a letter to Oprah asking for $1,000,000 straight up
Realize that Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff" as your ringtone is not cool and change it to Flo Rida’s “In the Ayer”
narrow down my final selections for a Halloween costume
Stretch my Glutes

1) That's for good luck for us - for those of you who didn't know - I actually like that ritual
2) I like my pansy seat - although I hardly actually sit during a game:)

Back to team rituals, my favorite was Hawaii's Farington HS. Before the National Anthem the team would link arms around shoulders and sing a beautiful Hymn in Samoan, and they'd do it in 4 part harmony. Truely the sweetest pregame I've ever witnessed.

I think the pregame ritual done in Remember the Titans was pretty cool.

That is good I really didn't like the one that they did last year.

It's a work in progress. The one last year was an original buy one of our own so ofcourse the choreography and lyrcal quality was lacking
I have yet to see it myself, but Jbusch says' it's an improvement. All versions have been waaaay to long. And I still favor only bringing it out for the big games

I like doing it before all games but it needs to be shorter and done slower and more clearly done.
It always seems to get rushed.
da hawaiian
05-12-2010, 01:23 AM
when its rushed it loses alot. But because the guys are under the clock and the routine is so long it becomes natural to rush it. I think you've got it tho
Trojanalum693
05-12-2010, 10:50 PM
Yeah they are so excited when they do it as well that it is only natural for it to be rushed. But every year when they are practicing it Lineweaver says that it needs to be done slower.
da hawaiian
05-13-2010, 04:09 AM
I also think it's rushed because the phraseology is unfamiliar - even for most of the Tongan kids
