As I stated in another post someplace. Coach Outlaw has already talked to the coaches of Killeen Harker Heights and Killeen Shoemaker. The Harker Heights coach and Outlaw have agreed to a home and home coin flip. The coach from Killeen Shoemaker wants to play in Bryan at Bryan Viking Stadium and John has agreed to do that, if they make it as the third team in 13-5A.
Those are the fact as I know them. I think we are okay with the coin flip, John has been almost as successful in that area as winning football games. I don't like the Bryan stadium but it is not the worst either. The Killeen thing I really don't like, but if it happens and that is where we go, I will be there.
This is what is posted on the lufkin panthersports.com website. so now heights and Lufkin will flip for a home and home to see were they play.

so its offical, a coin flip for the home team?
if so i like this, i think heights has one chance, being the home team,
heights is very good at home last two years heights only has one home loss, which was against a ranked cove team

Q&A with Coach Outlaw
By JOSH HAVARD
Wednesday, November 02, 2005
Sports Editor Josh Havard held a question-and-answer session with Lufkin Head Coach John Outlaw on Tuesday afternoon. The Panthers are coming off a 42-17 win over The Woodlands in a game that wrapped up the district title for Lufkin. Lufkin will look to wrap up an undefeated regular season on Friday night when it travels to play Klein Collins at 7:30. Lufkin has a 9-0 overall mark and a 6-0 district record while Klein Collins comes in at 3-6 overall and 2-4 in district play.
Q Does the team have any injuries that will keep players out of this week's game against Klein Collins?
A Joe Jackson (a defensive back) has had a high ankle sprain that he's been playing through for the past two or three weeks. But he's probably not going to play this week. Clifton Kibble and Ja'Corey Turner both got a little dinged up, but they're going to be able to go. We're going to need to make sure they're ready for the playoffs.
Q The win on Friday was the third straight for the team. What does that accomplishment mean to the players on this team?
A Well, this team seems to be a very goal-oriented team. That was our second goal. The first one was to make the playoffs, and the second one was to win the district title. Now the third is to go undefeated for the third straight season, and then get in the playoffs and see what we can do.
Q After wrapping up the top Division II seed in District 14-5A, what are some of the possible playoff scenarios for the team for the following week.
A We're going to have to play the second seed out of 13-5A. Harker Heights and Waco are playing on Thursday. If Harker Heights wins, then we'll play them in the first round of the playoffs. If Waco beats them, and Shoemaker beats Temple on Friday night, then we'll be playing Shoemaker. If we play Shoemaker, that game would be on Saturday afternoon at 2 at Bryan High School. If we play Harker Heights, we'll be flipping for home field.
Q With the team continuing to put up big numbers on the scoreboard, how important is it that several players contribute on the offensive side?
A It's something we're going to have to do. We've had several receivers make plays for us. We didn't have a very good game running at all on Friday, so that's something we want to get more consistent at. We're expecting for E.J. (Shankle) to be running the ball for us more in the next few weeks. That's something we're going to have to do because Clifton (Kibble) and Ja'Corey (Turner) aren't completely at 100 percent. On Friday, we didn't have the ball for very many possessions, but when we had it, we scored.
Q How important was it for the team to get a quality performance against a good team like The Woodlands?
A The Woodlands has a very good football team. If they didn't turn the ball over three times, then we're probably in a dogfight until the end. I think what it came down to is that our football team wanted the game more than theirs did.
Q The defense returned three turnovers for scores. How much of a lift can it give to the team when it gets defensive scores?
A I don't remember ever coaching a team that scored three defensive touchdowns. I've had several that scored two, but never one that had three. It's huge when a defensive player puts points on the board because that makes them feel like they're contributing to the team in more ways than one. But as far as our overall defensive performance, I don't think Coach (Todd) Quick was happy at all. Anytime you give up 260 rushing yards, you can't be happy. But the defense only gave up three points in the second half, and that's a good team we were playing against.
Q How beneficial was it to the team that there was a playoff-type atmosphere with the district title on the line Friday night?
A It was great for the kids. What some of the people here may not realize is that The Woodlands has never been in an environment like that. They were in absolute awe of the facilities we have and the festivities we had to get ready for the game. They didn't know what this type of environment would be like, and they were very complimentary to us.

Why in the world would Harker Heights coach agree to this?
He is willing to take a chance...and possibly have to go to Abe?
oh well...
This is the first time in my life...I am rooting against Lufkin...I hope
they lose the toss...
Sorry Pack fans...I'm being selfish...
'Yall got to watch them in your backyard all season...Let ol' Wide-e-wide
have one in his backyard...
Plus...the whole damn town will come here anyway...so it's a home game either way.

ok wide, think about it, what chances to you think heights has to win this week. its very slim, like you said its a home game for lufkin whereever they go, but for heights its not, heights needs the turf of buckley and the fan support, if we traveld we wouldnt even get close to 1 k

I see your point...maybe it is worth the gamble...but if they lose the coin toss...Man...they have to go to Abe and play..Not a good place to start your playoff journey.

Some of the casual bandwagon playoff Lufkin fans might not make the drive to Killeen because they will expect this one to be over by halftime. Im pretty sure there will still be 4-6 thousand with the crowds growing each week that Lufkin progresses (if they do)

The stadium link has Leo Buckley holding approx. 5000. I think it will hold more than that, We (DAWGS) play at least 2 games a year there and I see it holding about 9000.

I don't see more than 4,000 going from Lufkin........
It's a first round game....against someone they are suppose to beat pretty easily.
Against Waco High in the first round they filled up the side of Ennis Stadium........and it was 4,000 seats on that side.
Cedar Park game in Waco there was about 6,000........they filled up the homeside.
The Southlake Carroll game they sold about 15,000 ...the visitor side of Floyd Casey was almost full and it holds 20,000.

Anybody know when this flip takes place - maybe Sat. a.m.? or maybe Coach O heads north on I-35 after the KC game. I'd love to host a po game - it's been a while.
