I'd say either Cy Falls or Pflugerville. Pflugerville's could come as early as 2008, and Falls within the next 4 years.

Nope... they lost to Monahans in the 1A finals in 1948 and to Texarkana in the 4A D1 finals in 2002.

Semifinal losses were to:
Wharton in the 1950 1A Semis
Willowridge in the 1982 4A Semis
Bay City in the 1983 4A Semis
Tomball in the 1985 4A Semis
West Orange-Stark in the 1986 4A Semis
Alief Hastings in the 1997 5A D2 Semis
and most recently to Lamar Consolidated in the 2007 4A D1 Semis.

It must have been in another sport because every time I drive by the field I see the state champs on the back of their football stadium

If I could only choose one, I would have to go with Pflugerville. Out of the traditional powerhouses listed, I think they have a better shot of winning now.

It's interesting how few DFW area teams are on that list... I suppose it's because if a DFW team makes it to a final, they win the game the majority of the time

13 are from the Greater Houston Area
7 are from the Greater San Antonio and Greater Austin Areas
2 are from DFW (both in Tarrant County)
1 from West Texas
1 from the Valley

WOS is right; we have never won a football state championship; the one you probably saw was the baseball one that NB won in 2006. Man, if NB would have ever won a football title im sure we'd have it on a billboard somewhere :D

My nephew is currently staying with me and helping me out with an upcoming move and just returned from the NEW Schlitterbahn in Galveston.... connected with Moody Gardens... from what he's told me it cannot compare with the original, which is what I kinda expected as there is no river on Galveston Island on which to go tubing...

Are you sure it isn't because the same DFW teams tend to make it to the finals often enough to win it? That they get more chances to get their names off the list? Whereas the Houston area tends not to create the same dynastic situations?

Not to ask the Master to stay awake all night responding to yet another statistical query, but I wonder if you could confirm my alternate hypothesis that Houston area tends to produce a larger number of finalists, each of which tends to get there less often than the DFW entries? In other words, the power is more balanced in the Houston area.

3. 11 losses - Breckenridge (7-11 record in Quarterfinals)
4. 10 losses - Monahans (3-10 record in Quarterfinals)

I believe there are currently 13 different 5A programs in the DFW area who have won a state title over the course of their history. DFW was prodcing finalsit and champs before Trinity and Carroll started their winning ways of the last 6 years. This area is made up of more than just Carroll and Trinity. Here is a list of teams from DFW who have played for and won a state championship
Lake Highlands - 81 won
Lewisville 93 and 96 won both
Plano - 93, 94 won in 94
Marcus - 95 and 97 won 97
Duncanville- 98 won
Garland - 99 won
Mesquite - 2001 won
North Crowley - 04 won 4A
Hebron - 05 won 4A
That is not including Carroll and Trinity's combined 9 titles and 11 apperances or the titles won by Arlington High and Wylie since I could not remember what year they won those titles.

Also it could be said tghat the Houston area should produce a larger number of finalsit due to the fact that they have an entire region made up entirely of Houston teams thus givng the Houston area no less than a 50% chance of sending a team to the title game before the season even starts.

I'd say either Cy Falls or Pflugerville. Pflugerville's could come as early as 2008, and Falls within the next 4 years.

Is there a great group of Freshman coming into Cy-Falls? Making a four year prediction would be difficult especially in High School. Anyway, I live not too far from The Berry and won't miss Falls play that season.

Cy-Falls will still have some good players, but because of the opening of Cy-Woods (2008-09) Cy-Ranch and Cy-Lakes the boundary lines are pushing some of that talent back to Ridge and Fair.
