Lazars on Display: Old hat, perhaps, but one still cannot help but marvel at Graham Harrell's touch on deep balls. Play after play, Harrell laid in forty-yard passes exactly where they had to be to defeat tight coverage. He's as accurate and polished as a college quarterback can be.
I thought he couldn't throw the ball more than 40 yards? It's a novel concept to throw it 40 when you want it to go 40. I'm not as much in favor of tossing it 50 when you need 40.:D

I'd suggest whoever wrote it is a poor writer.

I don't know who doesn't think that Harrell is a good college QB. The knock that I've seen is that he won't be a good NFL QB. Not what I think, nor care about, but I don't see how this quote resolves that.

I was at practice and he was tossing lazers. The WRs did well also... Some of them you thought he led them too much then the WRs would get there with some good speed.

I thought the defense was better this year?

Crabtree would make UT's defense backs look stupid in practice occasionally as well. Crabtree and Jamar Wall have good battles though.
A lot of the optimism about the defense comes from having more depth especially on the DL. Last year we rotated mainly only three DT and one of those was a True Freshman NT. We even brought in a 5'11 walk-on DT at times. We had only three good DE's as well. Now we added Brandon SeSay and McKinner Dixon to that group. Plus the guys that got hurt are healthy now.
Today they put on the pads so it should be even better now that they get to hit.

The defense will start to look better today with the pads finally on. I'm waiting to hear how things were tonight. Part of the offense's dominance has been playing a fair amount of time vs. the scout team.

I was there what you want to know? The defense was so excited to have pads on they were running around practice. Lots of good plays for defense and offense. Brandon SeSay will be very good once he gets everything down. SeSay and Winn had some great 1 on 1s as well. Fehoko is a football player everytime they have a scrimmage I sware he gets faster and plays better. He had a great hit on RB Brandon Ried which forced him immediately backwards. Also Jeffers looked damn good on the scout team. Just like he did in HS when the DL got penetration he danced around and found the hole to get through. One time though he got into it with the defense a little bit. He came right back and burnt them on the next play.
I like watching most now is the 1 on 1 - OL vs DL battles. They jaw back and forth. With the added depth we have on DL it's great. Good battle was SeSay vs Marlon Winn. Jake Johnson bulldogged David Neil.

Video includes #69 OL Jake Johnson 6'7 370lbs went up against #90 DL Brandon SeSay 6'6 278lbs to start the pratice in the Bulls in the Ring drill. To start practice...
