Report from Katy... The rain was hard and lightening consistent... Very windy and dark clouds... Much stronger than Rita ever gave us... Oh, wait... That was yesterday afternoon/early evening... I did hear gas and grocery sales were brisk...
Today, just overcast and a little sprinkling rain...

But all four local TV stations are televising it as if it were Katrina.

Lookin at the Radar, you guys have already made it through one side of the nastiness (Depending on what side of Houston you are on), and now it's time for the wind to come out of the other direction.
Still nowhere NEAR done with the rain though.

Fortunantly the Cable is out where I'm at so I am using the "indian weather rock" as opposed to the local news. come to think of it the indian weather rock is more accurate.

Thanks, but I have to confess it wasn't an original. The same photo was floating around Houston after Rita, which threatened us but decided to clobber the Golden Triangle and East Texas instead......
But it is funny. The news media is trying to turn a potential hurricane into news ratings, is all. It's amazing all these businesses closed for the day. We might have a bit of minor street flooding, but I think that'll be it. You know the media looks stupid when they have their on-the-scene reporter in Galveston, complete with rubber hat and galoshes, with windblown hair giving her report, but groups of tourists are walking around behind her on the seawall like it's just any other day.

The news reporters look very disappointed. They keep showing film of the water at the beach and it doesn't look any worse than a normal rain storm. One film crew actually got a shot of it lightening in the background. Awesome.
It's raining here at work on the West side of Houston and hopefully my yard is getting some rain in Katy. This was a wimpy tropical storm. No wonder it was given a French name. :D

I've seen worse. All the action seems to be east of there. Nothing to be concerned about. I for one am welcoming the much needed rain.

Nothing much on the west side except some rain. There hasn't been much wind at all to speak of.
An isolated t-storm came through last night ahead of the system that packed a good punch, but that is it.

A little tropical storm is good for one thing, SURFING ! Anything west of Crystal Beach is on the "Clean Side". Thank God no one killed or injured. A very small Tropical Storm/Squall. Have a Hurricane (Drink) and a Shrimp Poor-Boy and relax. Maybe Austin will get some much needed rain out of this.

Big news, record rainfall for the date at Bush Airport. and to think I brought all of my 'cast iron' lawn furniture in last night. they had thirty sand bags delivered to the site today. We have no where to put them. Wimp A$$ French. Does that flag pole in the background have an American, Texas or French flag on it?

Unless it happens to be from 'The Republic of Rio Grande' which Laredo claims to have been the capital at one time making them under 'Seven Flags' hence the 'City of Seven Flags.' Maybe this is the reason no team from this area has come close to winning state.

I find it weird that some people are actually "Disappointed" that the storm didnt do any damage. I don't blame the local city officials for being on top of their game. After Katrina, I wouldn't take any chances either. As you guys poke fun and joke at the little "Rain" that we got....Spartan78's picture of A chair blowing over, Rwilleby's wet cat, understand that SOME people were actually greatly affected and their lives will never be the same. One of our very own posters is lucky to have survied the wrath of "a little rain" storm. KtCarl was a victim of Edouard....PM me for contact information to make donations for him, he's OK, but lost a lot........the area around his house has been considerd a Disaster area so the storm did a LITTLE damage in some areas.......here is a pic he sent me from his cell phone as the storm hit.....I havent heard from him since.:(

A Shiner Bohemian Black Lager, which is what Slorch had last weekend beats out a Miller Lite from Stop-N-Go in a brown paper to-go bag anyday in my books. Before you go there, I just happen to remember the post.
Shiner Bohemian Black Lager
Shiner Bohemian Black lager is a rare and delicious style of beer, referred to in Germany as “Schwarzbier” (Black Beer). Shiner Bohemian Black Lager remains true to this old-world style by using imported Czech Saaz and Styrians Hops and select roasted malts to make it our darkest beer.
Shiner Bohemian Black Lager, celebrates a brewing tradition by the venerable Spoetzl Brewery. Customers will appreciate the distinctively sophisticated flavor of this rare style of beer, which stays true to its Czech and German heritage. Prost!
Shiner Bohemian Black Lager Beer Specs?
• Alcohol by volume: 4.9%
• Alcohol by weight: 3.8%
• Hop Bitterness/IBU: 18.0
Need the comparable specs for a Miller Lite? The Irish don't dew German bier.
