View Full Version : Will Amendola make the Boy's final roster?

Despite all the high praise coming out of OTAs and camp, there is not a lot of hope of Amendola making the team simply because there may not be a roster spot for him. With the team likely to carry 6-7 CBs, the roster spots are limited and Dallas is likely to carry just 6 WRs. Owens, Crayton, Hurd, Austin, Stanbeck or Jefferson will have to be cut to make room and truthfully, the only cut possibility is Jefferson. So, does Amendola make it?

my heart says yes.
my brain says no, but the success of Wes Welker combined with DA's camp so far might be just enough to earn him a shot in today's League of Copycats( who would want to be the GM that gave up on the next Welker?)

i would agree that if all things are equal, and close, he might make it, for the reasons slorch elucidated.

He's the perfect slot receiver and for a team that lines up in a bunch of 3 and 4 WR sets, Dallas really doesn't have a true slot receiver on their roster.

Mickey Spagnola seems to think he has a pretty good shot, especially if the Cowboys keep 6 at wideout. Amendola has been a plesant surprise at training camp...he's been getting a lot of talk this week on The Ticket...who's been in Oxnard all week....Amendola was a great interview.

I sure hope he does...and if he doesn't, I hope he shops his skills around. Welker was cut from the first roster he made and that worked out OK for him. I don't know if DA is the next coming of Wes, but I think, like jtk, that he'd make someone a pretty dang good slot reciever.

As long as he's not a whiny little ***** like Wes Welker, give him a spot.

Wes is not fast at all. In fact, in pre-drat scouting, Amendola posted almost identical 40 times to those put up by Welker (4.55 range). Neither are very fast, but both are very quick. That is why they are good in the slot.

On the interview I listened to, he was one of the most humble and polite young men in sports I've heard recently....nice kid.....he will be successful even if the pro football thing doesn't work out for him.

You are right. Welker's nothing but class. his upbringing is well documented and I've never seen nor heard of him deviating from that publicly. i'm sure he's not perfect, but I don't know where the "whiny" accusation came from.
Evrything I've ever seen or heard about Welker is that he's a fearless son of a gun on the field and a gentleman off of it.

Isn't it usually the Monday after the last preseason game.

Actually.....I was talking about an Amendola interview from last week.....but I'm sure Welker is a good kid too.
