Ahhhhh Bankrupt

For a moment there, I thought this was the 'Judson Stadium' thread.

Back on topic, this is too bad for all of those unsuspecting people.

I can't believe how poorly they handled it yesterday. Employees weren't even told ahead of time. That tells me quite a bit about the management.

I am old school. Steak n Ale was the place you got engaged, went for Senior Prom, took your date for Sadie Hawkins.....

I will miss it. Their salads and steaks were the best. You could go there alone and be treated like a queen (or king) when travelling and they had rooms you could sit for hours over your coffee and read a good book or just think.

I will miss it.

cannot say that I have ever really like these two restaurants.

Steak & Ale closed in Lubbock years ago and my beloved Stella's(:notworthy) moved in...

If that could happen everywhere, 7-29-08 would become a national holiday!

I'm not surprised. They did the same thing about 2 or 3 years ago in my hometown (Victoria). They closed the Bennigans there and did not tell the employees. They just showed up to a locked restaurant and a sign on the door saying they were closed. I don't know if they ever received their last paycheck.

I'm surprised. Nobody has commented on the obvious. The Highland Park Scots in my avatar, that is. You know, men in skirts.

:D

slightly out of context;), but wouldn't a library be a better place to go and "think?" Is the primal satisfaction that is a ribeye with a loaded baked potato that thought provoking?

Anyone remember Victoria Station?

Lots of memories at S&A. Brinkers first resturant was S&a on Northwest just East of Central. It was the start of his empire.

Yeah, SLIGHTLY. You edited out the "when travelling." Quite critical to the "alone" part and, not insignificantly, to the point of why a restaurant would be a nice place to read a book or think.....:D

Thread. Or more properly, fibers. And you'll need it to fix the rips in your skirts...

As long as you don't write for a paper/magazine that I read, you are off to a good start. I have the editor of my local paper on speed dial. And the publisher.

My wife and I had our first real date at a Steak and Ale. I wasn't much of a Bennigans person, but did enjoy the SnA steaks and salad bar. My family went there a lot when I was in HS and college.

I worked at a couple of Steak and Ale's when I was in college. My first husband was the kitchen manager at one of them and we used to jokingly called it "Ache and Stale". I did manage to get the recipe for the marinade for their marinated chicken breast, which made it all worthwhile. ;)

We hated those outfits, but they did get us excellent tips. Especially at lunch service. Can you say expense account???? :notworthy
