Get this...if Trinity loses to IMAC by over a certain amount of points, they don't make the playoffs. Coppell goes due to the new points system. This happens even though Trinity shut out Coppell 34-0. How can this be fair? I believe UIL has a maximum 14 points to work with for tie breakers. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a 5A coach tried to explain this to me and said a Trinity coach told him the same thing. How bout that for a screw job, go 8-2 (if that happens) and not make the playoffs!!!! Whyis UIL in the business of breaking kids' hearts?

Irv. Mac has already clinched a playoff berth.

If Trinity beats Mac, and SGP beats Coppell, there will be a 3 way tie for the district 6-5A Championship between Trinity, Mac, and SGP.

If Mac beats Trinity and SGP beats Coppell, MacArhtur wins the district and Trinity and SGP still go in.

SGP, depite their huge win over Trinity, must beat Coppell to get in. If they were to be upset, Coppell would go by virtue of a tie-breaker through the victory which would make them and SGP 5-2. However, Trinity has already beaten Coppell. So if Mac beats Trinity and SGP loses to Coppell, you have a 3 way tie between Trinity, SGP, and Coppell. If point spread is the determiner, than I guess you are right.

But I thought it might be decided by a coin flip if this occurred ---- correct me if I am wrong.

Personally, I think SGP rolls and Trinity beats Macarthur.

I agree with your predictions. However, UIL has made a 14 point rule, so it doesn't matter that Trinity beat Coppell by 34, they only get credit for 14 points. I am not totally sure about the rest, the coach here tried to explain between classes. IT SUCKS

UIL didn't make that rule.
Districts come up with their own tie-breakers.

What's the tiebreaker? If it's point differential or positive points between the three teams, I don't see how Trinity can miss the playoffs. They have a +7 point differential versus SGP and Coppell. Coppell and SGP can't both have point differentials better than +7. Trinity also has 14 positive points, which can't be topped by both Coppell and SGP.

Pearland made the playoffs in '98 with a 2-8 record. We will be seeing more of that with 4 teams from a district making the playoffs.

Is that rule if effect for every district in the state because I've never heard of it before?

Its different in every District. District Comittees make the tie break rules.

In 26-5A its 21 + points max, with positive points ties going to head to head(if 2 teams are tied at +21, the team that won the head to head wins the tiebreak)

What would the odds have been two weeks of ET not making the playoffs? I'd say over a million to one - unbelievable.

If ET didn't make the playoffs I would be beyond shocked!!! I would still consider them one of my favorites to win the Division 1 state championship! Maybe some districts will really benefit from having the 4 playoff teams.
