someone told me about Texas Pride BBQ, but it's on the other side of town from where I'll be (Wild Oak Ranch).

Grey Moss Inn, out on Scenic Loop Road.

Haven't been in years but the TipTop Cafe used to be good for general roadhouse food. (Fredricksburg Rd)

Anybody been lately to testify good or bad?

Rudy's BBQ

The one by Retama Park (drool) amazing.....

I can't think of the name of it but there's a place in Cibilo (suburb of SA) that has some awesome BBQ!

Got that as a tip earlier as well from a guy in the office. He says it's fantastic. She may be looking for more atmosphere than that though.

Thanks

Tip Top makes one of the world's best Chicken Fried Steak. Add an appetizer of Onion Rings (another signature item), and it is AWESOME. The desserts are top notch for a diner as well.

Tip Top was featured in an "ESPN the magazine" ad, with Tim Duncan. It hangs in the corner of the diner.

Yes, it's still really good.

If you're a person who can take a joke, and dont mind waiter/ess poking fun or being rude (its in their job description), then definitely visit this place. Our cheerleading team went one year and there was live music!! it was so much fun. The food was average. Just a fun experience

That's funny!

I've been there years ago, and it was fun. I don't think that will fit the bill on this trip though. Thanks anyway.

How's Starkeville? My father's family are all MSU alumni. It's a sin at the reunion to where anything other than maroon and white :D

BTW, I will repeat my recommendation of the Little Rhein Steakhouse:

In that case, Rocketgirl recommends the McDonalds in Converse. :p

Sure, he has an anniversary but does he need anniversary type restaurants for every meal?

You can do the fancy nice meal for an anniversary but that doesn't mean you can't check out some other places that are decent for a vacation/anniversary.

That's TOO funny! Yes, I hope this will be the first of many.

I've been to Little Rhein before and loved it. I am purposely trying to avoid the creek if at all possible for this one though. I'd like to see something a little different.

Starkville is AMAZING. I would recommend if you're gunna visit to go during the school year. Football season especially. It's a true college town, when school isn't in session its like any old country town...time seems to creep. But with school in gear Starkville has so much life. It's beautiful and people are really friendly. I enjoy every minute of being there.

p.s. my family is all Ole Miss alum so it's a sin for me to wear my maroon and white. haha:rolleyes:

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in San Antonio is "Rio Rio" on the River Walk.

I'm heading down there tomorrow for a music convention:D

Tip Top is GREAT and it reminds me of those old diners we used to eat at when I was a kid. And it was featured on the Food Network - I have never been disappointed by any of my FN finds anywhere in the U.S.

I second the Grey Moss as well - very nice atmosphere and good food. There's a new Mexican Rest I went to last month - Amorcito's on 1604 which wasn't too bad. Chris Madrid's if you're after a great burger (I believe it's on San Pedro) or Longhorn on Blanco is also good for burgers.
