Probably not XTREME, but Coach Ross has added a few new wrinkles on offense to get the ball out to his playmakers. I know the Thornhill brothers missed a lot of spring practise due to injury and the deep run in the playoffs by the baseball team. I still think that Russo kid could end up being a difference maker once he gets some real game playing time. His is big and physical. The type that will drag defenders for that extra yardage. But the offense is still predicated for a ground based attack. We will see soon enough come August 29 against Westlake!

I dont see Cedar Park changing anything...Will run it over and over and when you are not ready they will pass and wr will be wide open... Not to fun to watch but wins ball games.... 80% run with 20% passing - Qb will end up with a high Qb rating with low passing yards and td. Did last year Qb end up going anywhere ?? Hard for a Qb to get noticed in that offense

Don't care if we run or pass, the point is to win. If you look at the biggest "passing" offenses in our district last year (Westwood and McNeil) they didn't do very well in district. "Usually" teams that can run the ball will win.

We will have a qb that will allow us to run the option more this year than last year. Seemed like our QB last year never really got over his knee surgery.

Can't wait!

twolf5 - you are right (bottom line is winning) - Both Westwood and Mcneil had no running game - I think you need both to win... SP had the balance that was needed to win district...

I think this year you'll see a more balanced offense from CP. Our receivers were not very dependable last year, this year they are young but can catch the ball. Watch for sophomore Dillon Cox. He's special. Dedrick M. is going to be lights out talented out of the backfield. You better know where he is every play. We'll hopefully return to more option this year which will open things up over last year. Two good QB's....A "power" qb and and "option" qb. Good oline. Great defense.

If Cedar Park stays healthy, we're gonna be a solid club.

I think Dedrick M is going to have a great year... I know of Russo, who is the other Qb you are talking about?? - I hear that soph group is going to be the biggest group of linemen ever at CP...

Other QB is Nathan Thornhill. Didn't get much time in spring becuase of the baseball playoffs. A little different skill set that Russo. Both are good.

If Thornhill is who i think he is, he is FAST. One thing that CP has always seemed to have lacked is a true D-1 athlete at qb every since Korey Washington left. When he was a sr cp made their best ever playoff run going 11-3 and losing in the quarter finals to Lufkin. And IMO McKnight may very well be (as far as proven players go) the most explosive player in the district. Maybe i'm leaving somebody out but he has always had that knack for making something happen ever since he was a sophomore.

Not to change gears, but did any of you read the article in the Hill Country News about the possibility that Bible stadium may need to be put out to pasture after next football season due to lead paint or primer issues on the stands? That will be a cause for concern since the new stadium being planned for Cedar Park/Vista Ridge is not even off the drawing boards!!

It needs to happen. If it costs 1.5MM more to bomb that dump and rebuild something that belongs in the 21st century, then so be it.

Amen to you TWOLF5!!! I've been carping about that junk palace for three years now. Even G-town has stepped up to modern times and left their rodeo palace on the San Gabriel. I know from the school board meeting last winter that the public's preference for individual home stadiums was scuttled by a few timid members on the board. I will not say their names but the most vocal against this preference was voted OUT in the last elections!!! She will not be missed!

I really wish they would redo Bible. I actually saw the drawings for the individual stadiums. Those stadiums looked so nice. I guess they voted against them huh?

I think Leander is planning to flatten the baseball field behind Bible and make it the Home Side parking....at least thats what I heard. I know the varsity baseball team no longer plays on that field.
