I second that and good luck to the Scarlet and White for the second season just starting. I'm ready for for some good football now. Pearland will be a good game and on the other side of town I see Lamar looking very strong. They have a stout defense and will be a real test for Westfield.

North Shore has a pretty solid Defense also. Since the 7-6 win over The Woodlands(don't remember how TWHS got 6 TD and missed XP or 2 field goals) the 'Stangs have only given up 2 Offensive TD's. :o

TWHS scored and missed the extra point. Shore completely lucked out in that game. The defense held up to its billing but it was that game that made me skepticle of their offense this year. I think if they go deep in the playoffs it will be due to a superb D. I still say the QB position is weak. Cain has thrown 2 interceptions that turned into points for the other team and he has not convinced me he is astute on the field. You absolutely cannot do that against Westfield or Pearland. It will be a quick exit out of the playoffs. I hope he proves me wrong and gets the job done. Beating teams in 23 5A is not a huge thing to brag about. I put my faith in Aymond to have them totally prepared.

It is also interesting to see they stack up at the top of the stat list on this website. Ahead of Westfield in D and O and just behind SLC in O but number one in PPG vs PAPG over everyone. SLC is not even on the defense list.

dada the Woodlands scored on a 35 yard pass from Parsons to Taylor Groto and then missed the extra point. That was the only touch down given up by Shore's starting defense on the season.

Thanks.....still impressive though. Not looking ahead, but both, Westfield and North Shore has excellent Offense and Defense's. Something has to give when they go head to head.

I totally agree with you there mustang. I remember at the start of the season some where saying he was as good as if not better than Bobby. Though as the season has progressed I wouldn't even consider him being on the same level as Willie Gaston was. As far as passing goes while he looks good at times. Its obvious he has no where near the kind of touch or control Bobby did. Bobby was one of the only quarterback I have seen that could throw the ball right where he wanted to even with the wind in his face.

And when it comes to runnign the option or just running period with the ball Cain has looked scared to me mos tevery time. I realize it's good to see a high school quarterback looking to get rid of the ball rather than run with it, but when the defense is giving you the running lane you got to tuck the ball and take it.

I would hope to see that if he seems to be strugglign any at all against Pearland that they would move Kevin Rutland to the quarterback spot of go ahead and brign in Vance Fizer and let him see what he can do.

You speak good words BDC and see the same things I do. If they had a Gaston at the helm right now I would feel good about their chances going all the way and yes, Cain needs to get gritty and run that lane with no fear. It would sure make the opposing defense rethink some strategies.

It's not fair to Cain - comparing him to Reid. Bobby was one of a kind. We were lucky to see him play and do well. Hope he continues to do well at OSU.

Cain is more of a step back and throw the ball type quarterback. He does not look comfortable on the option. That is why they put Rutland in at times - as a change of pace. But everyone knows he is running the ball because Rutland can't pass and is terrible at the option pass. I have never seen Rutland make that option pass successfully.

Cain is a good passer, Rutland a good runner. Put them together and you get one Bobby Reid.
