View Full Version : Dallas finds depth at Running Back

The Dallas Cowboys have the deepest running back core in the NFL. Marion Barber III had a great game, and seems to be a talented runner. Over 120yds and 2 TDs, and this guy is just the backup. Julius Jones is an even better runner, and he will be back shortly. Then they have former rookie of the year Anthony Thomas and speedy back Tyson Thompson tucked away for a rainy day. I can't remember a Dallas team with four SOLID running backs, or at least not this kind of depth at the position. Dallas is definatly enjoying wealth at the running back position.

I agree...
And although I am pleased with the Cowboys thus far...
I have to admit the Monday Night game (shut up Skins88) and the Seattle game still bothers me...
This team could very well be 7-1 right now...Damn that bugs me...
But they are for real...don't let anyone tell you any different.
The NFC East is back to it's old form...and it will be a battle for the entire season...

good teams, hang around late and win or lose in close games

GREAT teams win at the end, 90% of the time, just look at the PATS
if the boyz were a GREAT team they would be 7-1
but becuase they are good, they have a decent record.

Oh phoooey...
You can't let a little thing like the truth get in the way of your dreams that your team is great... :D

They are good...and could very well be great before it is all said and done...And notice all of the Bledsoe critics have vanished...wonder why?

I love Dallas...and I hope we win it all, but....

I don't see Julius Jones being here long, cus he stays hurt too much. You see what Parcells said to him, "You're like a well-oiled hot looking car, that should be out on the road.....but stays in the body shop, all the time!" He's absolutely right!

Plus...
Anthony Thomas was just released yesterday. I liked what I saw from Marion Barber, though I don't see him as an NFL starting "RB"! Tyson Thompson looks solid, but I still haven't seen enough of him, which says alot.

We wont win it all this year......but it's great to see the program competitive. I've always been a Bledsoe fan and have felt up till now he has underachieved. I really thought he was an Aikman type player when he came out of college....but was slow developing.....and seemed to be jelling till he got hurt in NE. He's a pocket guy.....build a solid pocket around him and he'll win you games.

Tuna keeps the games close so it can happen but I just don't think he's deep enough to climb the ladder yet.

I thought Bledsoe could be a decent QB, but he's been better than I thought he would be. That's a good signing by Dallas. I don't know how far the Cowboys can go.

Red, Redskins are in the review mirror.......and that was the same San Fran that just beat a division leading Tampa Bay team...even if they did have simms.

:D and you think it's going to get better for the redskins? They had me believing for a moment..... for a moment...... I'll never like them.....too much history with Dallas.... but for a moment...brief that it was.... I thought they were going to be a better team...

So having a team beat in all four quarters means something?

I guess Dallas beat Washington then...they had them beat with less than 5 minutes left in the game.

Gotta hate it when your own words come back on you.

Actually Wide.....you all were the ones that cared so much about having Washington beat in "all 4 quarters" and then when we won all you did was cry about how it wasn't fair. Then Dallas does it next week and you all say "oh, that was a great comeback!"....so technically, it was you that had the double standard to begin with....

I think there's still a chance. Superbowl worthy? No, I said earlier (weeks or days ago) that it'd be nice. But I never really thought they'd go. Playoffs? Maybe. But they'll definately have to improve since Sunday. Have they improved? Apart from the Giants - yes. Washington didn't come to play and didn't have a plan and it was a tough atmosphere....

Again with the "we" won ....was that you catching the pass?

And who said it wasn't fair...fair?...what the hell does that even mean?
Of course it was fair...Dallas fell flat on their face with 4 minutes left...

Dallas will win the division....watch.

If Dallas wins it, then it should be called that. Let me guess, Dallas is also good "just cause it's in texas"?

Division's still up for grabs. Each team has a division loss. and Dallas, with the luxury of already playing half of their games has a 2 win, 1 loss whereas Washington and NY have a 1-1 ratio. I think Philly, up until now only has a loss. The East is up for grabs.

I don't have a problem with it....I have a problem with thinking it's so much better....High school football I like and it possibly is better than some other states. College football is not better because it's in Texas. Pro Football is definately not better just because it's in Texas. Examples? Pro Football - Houston Texans...that in of itself kills the whole argument for Pro. College? Let's start with Baylor and your favorite A&M. They'd get rolled by many teams in the nation. High School, I love it so I won't try to damage it too much. But didn't a team go up to Ohio? Now, I don't agree with playing cross-state high school games and I'm sure there were many factors in it. In all, I like Texas, but it's people who think it's so much better that ruin it.

Dang Wide, you crack me up....why don't you til your head down a little bit and make sure your nose isn't flying up in the air and maybe you'll realize that some of us are too stuck up to realize that Texas isn't the greatest around. It is great, yes, but not THE greatest. Woudn't be the first time a Houston franchise ruined a player...errrr
Earl Campbell...They used to call them the Houston Earlers...because all they did was hand the ball to Earl every damn play...and somehow...he still managed to gain yards...and everybody knew he was going to get the ball.

Heck, as he's dropping back the D-line is already on him....that totally shuts down the running and passing attack. I guess he's just gonna have to rely on rolling right and left and hoping a reciever gets open. They should just trade the poor soul and let him live to his potential....
