Ns gets to play at home in round one and two and i cant say no more. That is the best edge any other team in the state has lets see what they can do with it.

I can understand that your coaches met & made the detirmination for round 1 but you don't know who you will play in round 2..how could they give you that advantage?

Don't the games have to be played first? Or am I missing something...? If we just go with your predictions, give Carroll the trophy now! :D

Nothing against the Houston Lamar team, they are undefeated and have had a great year. But, the general consensus is that they are no match for Spring Westfield. The same goes true for Pearland. They actually are a much better team than Houston Lamar, and if those two teams played, I would give the nod to Pearland 9 out of 10 times.

So, the reason that people are saying that North Shore will have home field advantage thru the second round, is they had to play both of the sames teams last year, at their home fields, so this year, same teams but at GPISD stadium. And, there's just something about "Home Cooking".

And, as far as giving the trophy to SLC, whatever team wins from Region 3, I think will have a say in which direction the trophy goes. My stomach tells me it's coming to spend the winter in Houston.

Look im not trying to get ahead of myself and no disrespect to Pearland or Lamar but Ns and Westfield will play eachother at GPISD in the second round Its all just a matter of waiting and which day itll be played on.

I still think it is crazy how SLC got to play 5 of their 6 playoff games (including the state championship) at Texas stadium. It is practically home field (30 minutes away). It does help.

Location is irrelevant for some programs around the state. Everywhere is home field for well supported schools.

I still say district champs should be rewarded with home field.

Me too, also give them a bye, and put them in something called a Super Bracket where there's one trophy at the end and nowhere to "hide". :D

Okay, what about when both are district champs?

In 19-5A that would probably mean another coin flip:(

I wish the super Bracket would have flown! I talked it up and actually got some air time for it with some of the High School Beat reporters with the Star-Telegram. However, no coach I talked to liked the idea and no AD liked it either! Our lust for one true champion does not translate into what is precieved as good for the High School Kids. Next year we will have 4 teams in the playoffs from each district and the hope for a Super Bracket will be lost forever!

Converse Judson played all but one game in the Alamodome in 2002 and it sure did help to enlarge the Judson crowd because of commute time. Unless the coaches from Northshore has met with the two schools they could possibly play, then they are not guaranteed home field regardless of where they played last year. When it comes time to decide where to play the two coaches or AD's will meet and they will first discuss home field vs nuetral. And if they do not agree on one or the other then they will flip on the two. If home field is won on the toss, then they will flip again to decide on who's home field they will be playing on. If nuetral field is decided, then they will both put up a nuetral field and flip, if they do not agree on a nuetral. The same goes with officials, if they cannot which chapter to use they will both put up nuetral chapters and flip. I have been involved in many of these meetings, both SA vs. SA, SA vs Houston, etc, and this is how it has always gone.

They played Pearland and Westfield in the first 2 rounds last year and look to do so again this year. I guess they lost both coin tosses and get to pick where they play this year.

Compliments of the post ***** with millions of one-liners and full of mindless drivel! ;)

After enduring the cold of Hays, I was thankful for 4 games inside in 2002.

There is supposedly a twice in 3 years rule where the team that lost one toss automatically gets to choose the next time. It didn't work last year for Randolph vs. Rogers. It could've worked this year for Judson-Westfield.

I know a school I coached at had the same bi-district game three years in a row and the first two we played at home. The third the other team did not want to go home and home on the flip and we ended up playing nuetral. I guess the other team was just being nice giving us the home field advantage the first two years.

They could still have everybody start in week 0 and let the div1 and div2 champ play.

Nobody would allow the High School kids to play 17 games of football! Plus you would have to get rid of school population as a determining factor as to who goes Div 1 or Div2. I would like someone to look at the 4 teams from you district to see what teams would go D1 vs D2 if the top two biggest playoff representatives go to Div1. In 5-5A the two Div 1 would be SLC and CHHS or Fossil Ridge while the Div 2 would still be Grapevine and Ryan.

I'd say that everything about this thread points to no respect to Lamar or Pearland. Hope they print this for all these players read and digest because this just going to add fuel to Lamar's and Pearland's fire.

Only 2 teams would have to play 17 games and there sure is not a big difference from 16 and 17 games. God i hate the UIL!! Have i ever menioned that?? ;)

How can any team get to play in there stadium for playoff games? Katy has never played a playoff game at Rhodes. Has any other teams played playoff games in their home stadium?

Carl that was the whole point of this thread. Last year North Shore had to go to both The Rig and George for both of it's playoff games.

Yup!

Last season coin flips between Pearland and Westfield were for home field. The looser of the coin flips would get home field the following year if they were to meet again. Of course NS lost both last year, played at their place. So we move on, stay with the deal and play in our BIG HOUSE!

THAT'S IT!

What do you mean by that? Until last year, Katy played almost all their home playoff games at home; in the Dome. ha-ha

I may be mistaken, but if I am it is because some Louisiana fellows mislead me. I believe the LA system is set up based on records and end of the year rankings with exception to the Championship game (played at the Superdome). Teams with the best record and/or ranking gets home field advantage throughout the playoffs. . . If this info is true - wouldn't it create a political stir in Texas!! Maybe we can get Redneckn to illuminate on this one for us.

Carl that was the whole point of this thread. Last year North Shore had to go to both The Rig and George for both of it's playoff games.

I have been waiting for this part of the season since the last second counted down at George Staduim last year. What a horrible game for NS.

I was at the so called "Rig" last year and the Pearland people were horrendous - HORRENDOUS I tell you. They were throwing cans at the NS Band - who had to sit on the home side. It was scary.

George Stadium was hard to get in and out of - and the day was just miserable - rainy and cold - and of course NS fans were in a funk after that game.

So Now here we are a year later.

Ticket to game - $7.00 (VIP Seating)
Hot dog - $1.50
Home field advantage - priceless
