I didn't know the other random thread was removed, so we have a new one.
I think I already said they were going to work on the East side, but the word today is that Tech has become the first NCAA Basketball team to sign on with Under Armour. They think Tech might have Under Armour for the whole department in a few years. Under Armour makes some good gear and I'm happy about this. The natives are getting restless because they haven't seen #5 Under Armour jerseys yet.

Somehow, I can't see Mark Mangino shopping there. (Love it. He's fodder for the professional writers too)
But Kansas is among six Big 12 schools to be included among the 33 teams in Victoria Secret's exclusive new "Pink" clothing line of collegiate sweats, football tees, logo tees, stadium jackets, zip hoodies and totebags that will be available only at their stores and through their Web site.
Other Big 12 schools to be included include Texas, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Colorado and Oklahoma.
There's the obligatory video commercial available online at victoriassecret.com. And I promised my wife that I downloaded it only for journalistic purposes.
yes - I hijacked the thread but it was about basketball anyway.:)

ESPN's Big 12 writer predicts:
Texas Tech will finally break its five-game losing streak to Texas, but will still continue its aggravating trend of losing a game against a lesser opponent it should have won. And that could cost the Red Raiders a shot at the South Division title.
Hopefully the lesser opponent will be OSU.:)

The Dallas Morning News has Tech going 10-2, getting 2nd in the South and losing to OU and OSU. I think he's the same guy that has Texas in the Cotton Bowl as the #3 team in the South over #2 Tech, who he sent to the Holiday Bowl.
Then again, another guy on CNNSI said Tech is going to lose the National Title game to Ohio State!:D

This team is different. There are very few question marks for this team...(kicker, is the defense going to be as good as we hope?) Quite frankly, this defense isn't going to turn into a top 10 defense over night, but all they need to do is to create a turnover or two and keep them out of the endzone every time their opponent has the ball.
The offense will do the rest.

The offense will do the rest.Tech was 2 3rd down stops away from being 11-2 last year. They played like crap vs. OSU and still had a shot to win. They looked horrible vs. CU and were 1 bad play away from winning that game, too. The Mizzou loss was legit and they didn't come close to shutting down the 'horns (The refs were horrible, but I've often said Tech didn't play good enough D to gripe about the refs blowing the game for them.)
Tech is going to score over 40 points a game. They don't need a Top 10 defense to win. They could win the Big 12 with a Top 30 defense and a national title with a Top 20 defense.
The stats say Tech had a good Pass Defense. That is true and I also know the Run Defense wasn't up to par in numerous games. Tech's Pass D will still be good, but the added beef and athleticism and hopefully better tackling in the Run D is what's going to make or break Tech. If Tech can take about 70 yards off the Run D this year, nobody will beat them. Tech needs to get more stops in the run game to prevent all those 3rd and shorts they usually face. Tech didn't have good 3rd down D last year. That needs to be a lot better this year. What gets lost in the shuffle are games like last year where OSU converts their first 12 or so 3rd downs.

I stopped right there. Don't be rediculous! Unless you're Oregon at OU, it never comes down to just 2 plays.

I agree. As long as the defense doesn't let their opponent trample all over them on 3rd downs like they did last year, Leach's offense will be very hard to match and or catch up with. I think a lot of that had to do with the young players on D, and the transition in the middle of the season...although they obviously got better every week after the loss in Stillwater.

You know what I was trying to say. I'm very much on board with the thought that every play impacts other plays.
The other side of the coin is Tech failed to score 30 points in a game twice last year when they put up the 26 and 10 vs. CU and Mizzou. Tech doesn't need a massive improvement on D to win more games. If the O is better this year, they can go from 9 to 11 or 12 without any D improvement. The D needs to be better to get to 13 or 14 if the O does their thing.
The $64K question for this year is what do Mizzou and Colorado know that the rest of the country doesn't and if they start figuring it out this year.
Harrell in 06:
vs. Mizzou and CU 6.15 yards per attempt, 4 TD's, 5 INT's, and 6 sacks
the other 11 games 7.60 yards per attempt, 34 TD's, 6 INT's, and 12 sacks
Harrell in 07:
vs. Mizzou and CU 6.32 yards per attempt, 4 TD's, 8 INT's, and 6 sacks
the other 11 games 8.38 yards per attempt, 44 TD's, 6 INT's, and 10 sacks

The bright side is Tech always struggles vs. Mizzou and CU and the last 2 years didn't change that, but they went 6-0 the last time KU, Nebraska, and K-State were on the schedule.
