The one about Boston.
Don't get me wrong Boston is a good idea for a Titletown but he said one thing that made me laugh. New England recently having an undefeated regular season....OK they didn't win a title so that's not something that would help.

They were probably talking about past titles. I'm not a huge Boston fan, but they probably win the thing. Who else wins it?

I guess Gainesville, Florida may be second, but they've only won one football title, and they have no pro sports.

I think (sadly) LA will win it. But Austin would be cool to win it (they are one of the nominees) cuz U.T. alone has more championships than the entire city of New York!

Hoping Dallas gets it because of the Cowboys, but it probably won't.

How could anybody go against Boston? The pro sports teams alone have won 31 world championships. Throw in Boston U., Boston College and Harvard and you have 45 world/national titles won by Boston athletic teams.

They are not even listed. Apparently this was all started because during the playoffs someone said if San Antonio wins it all this year they ARE Titletown. Since they didn't they started this.

New York or LA blow Boston out of the water.

I think it reflects a typical Patriots bias on ESPN's part if they included a team that didn't win a title in a segment called "Titletown."

Actually that was a point I was trying to throw across. They added NE in the Boston discussion for going 16-0....They didn't mention they didn't win it all.

are you kidding me?

baseball:
Yankees- 26
Mets- 2
Brooklyn Dodgers- 1
New York Giants -2 world series, 3 world championships

football:
Giants-3
Jets-1

hockey:
Rangers-4

basketball:
Knicks-2

that's 44 championships by professional teams...alone. more than that when combined with national titles by columbia, st. john's, nyu, and possibly fordham...

nyc > boston. in almost every possible way.

New York should be disqualified. When you have several different teams in the same sport ofcourse your going to have numerous titles.

. Even if you take only one team from each sport there is still more titles by New York than Boston. The Yankees alone almost have more than the entire city of Boston.

As far as titletowns, yes NY owns Boston overall. Especially in the professional arena.
Still doesn't make up enought to overcome the mass suck that is any and all things NY sports related.

In professional sports, no.
LA has the Lakers to fall on, how many of those titles were won as the Los Angeles Lakers though?
The Dodgers I believe have won 5 championships while in LA.
The Angels have 1 WS if you consider them LA
Did the Raiders ever win a Super Bowl as the LA Raiders?
I don't recall the Rams evre winning one either.
Don't follow Hockey or Soccer much but I believe you will find more titles in those two professional sports than that of LA.

As far as collegiate goes, then it would be hard for the 1 D1 school in Boston to compete with both USC and UCLA. The titles won in football, basketball, baseball and softball alone from those two schools is incredible and I don't think any of the schools in Boston could compete with that.
Carolina has the 4 in Basketball and 1 in womens basketball as well as the numerous ones in womens soccer.

In professional sports NY is hands down the winner.

ESPN mentioned UNC as a reason for Titletown so I'm thinking LA. UCLA beats out NY altogether!
