Ok time for me to tell you how I think D1 will turn out in the Playoffs. All the hype about SLC, ET and Longview could turn out to be the beginning off the end for those 3 successful teams. I know that all three of them have a great shot at winning the title because they have great talent and are all well coached. My opinion is not based on one of the teams losing and the other 2 struggling this week. I think this year the D1 State Champions will end up being neither of the 3 but another team that has been getting some recognition but not near as much as those 3. Who that team will be is yet to be seen but I do feel strongly about it. I told my friend from Houston at the game Friday that I didn't think one of the big three teams would win it and that it would be someone else that no one would expect to make it that far. I said that before I knew that ET lost and SLC and Longview struggled this past weekend. It is not because I think none of the 3 are good enough because I think they are but I just think that sometimes things fall into place in favor of a particular team. I think there are teams that are very capable of winning it all but for some reason they just don't get the puplicity. Keep in mind I am not trying to dog these 3 very successful programs at all. I just know that anything can happen in 5A football and I think we will find that out in the end. It could still very easily be SLC, ET, or Longview holding up that State Title Trophy but I think there is one team out there that has something to say about that.

As far as D2 goes I think it is up in the air. I don't automatically assume that Lufkin will win no matter who is or isn't in D2. I have said since the beginning of the season that I am not too proud of our team to think we can't be beat. I think we have as good a shot at winning the D2 title as any good team does in their respective division but there is no guarantee. I know there are several teams that will have just as good of a shot as us.

It all comes clear after next Friday's games for Carroll..then we know the path and can start discussing whether or not we can play for 5 more weeks....

Yeah, we almost always bring more fans than other teams in the district for their home games, which isn't saying much because it's pretty much all AISD. But our student section always represents and does some major car pooling. We had more fans than Killeen Ellison there earlier this year. (2 hours away). We had almost the same amount of fans as SA Roosevelt did 2 years ago in the playoffs when the game was @ Commalander (sp?) Stadium. Where do you think the game would be played?

Possibly Kyle Field but who knows what the coaches will decide before they flip the coin. Of course one game at a time. We still have to win the first playoff game.

Right, one game at a time and I think our 1st game will be home and home because we have a nice newly renovated stadium and Round Rock plays in a good stadium, I'm not sure if Stony Point uses RRISD stadium or Dragon Stadium. Are there no good small college/ large HS stadiums between Buda and Lufkin besides Kyle Field? It would be awesome to have the game there.

Probably not big enough to hold all the Lufkin fans. We travel very well. We usually play at Kyle Field in the playoffs at least once.

Well although Longview ended up being in D2 they were the first one of the BIG THREE that I felt would be out of the race. Even though SLC ended up D2 they could still be upset in the coming rounds. Of course they have been looking pretty impressive so we will see. I still say ET will be upset but maybe they will prove me wrong. I know they are very capable of winning D1 but I think there is a team out there that will pull off the upset. We shall see. Good luck to all.
