Aaron Luna headed for pro ball
Rice outfielder and former Southlake Carroll star Aaron Luna is now a professional baseball player. He agreed to terms with the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night. Luna was a 9th-round draft pick and is set to report to Davenport, Iowa on Thursday with the Class A Quad Cities River Bandits.

Luna hit .314 with 10 home runs and 53 RBI this season and played in the College World Series all three years in college.

That's awesome news.
Conrats to Aaron and his family. The man has always impressed me with his poise and how he holds himself on the field of play. He is going to do great things for the Cards.

Every time I hear the name I remember this play...

They showed the replay several times on the Jumbotron @ Baylor's stadium, and each time you heard the crowd go wild.

Luna killed us that day. Watch our all-state (next year) LB Mandela Roberts on the play (No. 10). Aaron lulled him to sleep at the line - then snuck behind him.

The run-over was just horrendous tackling on Ayers part - but still impressive.

All year ( after our first year in 5a) I looked forward to the Lufkin game. Some classic games right there!

The Cardinals must like Rice players. Last year they took Tyler Henley from Colleyville Heritage in the 8th round.

The Cardinals have always known talent! :o) It's going to be great to watch his career for years to come.

Congrats to Luna. I have kept a close eye on him while at Rice. I thought he would have been drafted a little bit higher (maybe 3rd or 4th round).

He has a bright future in Baseball...can't wait to see him in the big leagues.
