I would like to make a call to the board for more civility. We are about to embark on the playoffs and I know tensions will get higher, because they already are getting higher.

The young people get a bad rap from the older guys for being cocky and talking trash and saying a bunch of dumb stuff and that's true. I also know there are plenty of old farts around here that can't hold their tongues and fly off the handle at any remark that's taken as a slight to their precious program. It really makes me want to puke when I read the stuff that gets said. These comments are directed at everybody from the new poster this week to the big-time posters, Community Vets, and Hall of Famers.

I'm really bothered more by the long-time posters than the new guys. We face stuff in life and are supposed to learn lessons from them. What I've seen since I started posting here is a certain group of people who still react the same way year after year. It's perfectly fine to respond to other's posts in a calm, logical manner even if they're out of line. Remember, if one person stays calm a situation is diffused. It takes 2 to tango (and tangle!)

Sometimes, I wonder if it's because these guys aren't playing any longer and the closest they get to playing is fighting on this board. There are certain locations where you can't make any comment that appears to be negative in the slightest bit without getting your head chopped off.

Only 1 team can be #1, so we shouldn't fight over that. Many teams are liked and respected, but no team is without flaws. We run afoul when somebody can't distinguish that flaws others see are not the same as bashing the team.

Now, it's time for the rest of the troublemakers to clean up their act. You see I can't be put down from time for my past mistakes that I stopped doing and asked for forgiveness for by those who still do stuff without them being hypocrites.

I can think of 3 groups of particularly proud and rabid fans (and rightfully so) whose posters would do well to take a less hostile approach from time to time.

nine years in the playoffs and I didn't give up until the loss against Mesquite this week. We have at least 3 games that we should have won this year and I've been there for the school song at the end of every game this year and arrived for warm-up at 6:00! I'll continue to do so because I am a true fan. (I am a Baylor fan, too, so you can see that I've learned to walk a difficult road)

Actually in Texas there are 2 number ones in every classification! LOL But let's face it, a ranking doesn't mean crap until you back it up as a top ten school by making it out of your respective region! It is nice to see your team in the top ten in the state, but I'd rather see them be one of the two number ones when it's all over with!

this is a thread usually reserved for the off-season when otherwise lonny will have to retype qoutes from the rolling stone or the air force typing journal, one line per post. i can't think of many more capable of being nick named skillet than lonny/ texas hammer. the informative posts of which he is entirely capable are hidden deep beneath the mind-numbing drivel of near text-message irrelevancy. maybe there ought to be a separate forum for post- whores to self-flaggelate their counts into eternity.
