I just got back from this movie at the Alamo Drafthouse. It was pretty funny because you have to be 18 to go to Alamo but the movie was more or less a children's movie rated G. Didn't see one child in there.

The movie itself was really good. I was laughing a lot but it was more of a "robot love story" than I expected it to be. That didn't make the movie bad in any way I just had a misconception about the plot. I am not good at giving movie reviews because I never want to spoil anything but I would give it a 9.4 out of 10. Recommend you go see it whether or not you have kids.

It's a chain but the majority of their theaters are in Austin. They have branched out into several cities (not Dallas though, surprisingly) but as far as I know there is only one theater per city whereas there are FOUR in Austin. Once you go to the drafthouse you really can't go to any other theater. The ticket prices are cheaper than other theaters, you get to eat during the movie, and the food really isn't that bad.

Hmm.. Kung Fu Panda... Wall-E... Its tough to say because I saw Panda a while ago and I just saw Wall-E. I liked them both but I thought Wall-E was more entertaining. If I had to pick which one to see again it would be Wall-E.

yea my sister lives in austin and she took my parents to a drafthouse up there. no they cant wait till the one in mcallen opens up so i cant wait either. only thing im worried about down here is it turning ghetto. i know they serve alchohol is that correct? and there are too many fools down here that dont know how to act in public@ kung fu panda was awesome i liked it. but when we saw the previews for wal e we knew we had to go wee it when it comes out. i laughed all through kung fu panda, but i guess im an easy person to make laugh. everytime they said master shifoo i laughed. :notworthy

Yeah they serve alcohol and they have a pretty solid selection too. It is a movie theater not a bar and I have heard waiters talking about "limits" before but I am not exactly sure where the "limit" is because I have never reached it.

Kung Fu Panda was great. Wall-E was great in an entirely different way. The audience (keep in mind everyone in there was 18+) CLAPPED when the movie was over.

Too much other theater competition to fight in Dallas and Houston, imo. Plus in Dallas, not every area is "wet".

There is Studio Movie Grill in the Dallas area.

I went once. I prefer the Santikos theatres in San Antonio. ADH is a little behind here in SA for the whole alcohol/eating thing. The ADH here is pretty yucky (smells like toilet in the hallways), and the Santikos Realto theatre is about the same price. There are about 3 or 4 other theatres in SA that serve food and alcohol in the theatre. I'm sure the ones in Austin are nicer than the one here.

I have been to one of the Studio Movie Grills in Plano and it wasn't AWFUL but it was a far cry from good. It just couldn't compete with what I was used to at ADH.

I have been to two of the four in Austin and they are both really nice. Service is great, food is great, and everything is clean. That is kind of sad that the only ADH in SA is a crap hole.

I too saw Wall-E at ADH, and although the movie is good, most movies are made better with your favorite ale. I never stop singing the praises of Alamo Draft House. The two I know of in Houston were run down, dirty theaters that were revamped for the ADH concept. If the one you're talking about it a new structure that may take a while to get it done.

As for competition in Houston and Dallas, drafthouse ticket prices are cheaper than our local AMC and Cinemark tickets... and of course the obvious- best beer selection in town.

That's the best part about SA..... No AMC or Cinemark to speak of. Regal and Santikos gives them a good competition and better quality.

This is where I like to have my martini and see a movie in Imax

I thought it was just okay... Maybe my expectations were a little too high... Not on par with the other films... IMO... Wanted is next on my list...
