View Full Version : Vince Young should win the Maxwell Award

Reggie Bush can have the Heisman as far as I'm concerned.
I think Vince has the Maxwell Award virtually locked up. I think it's a better award as an MVP. There can be no question that Vince Young is the most valuable player to his team in the country.

I would tend to agree KT2000...
He is truly amazing.

I would have to agree only because USC has two really big stars in Leinart and Bush.

HD, I was wondering when you'd get a Mack Brown shot in. I was starting to think you were holding back.
With each additional post you make, the more it seems you're just here to rile everyone up.
You have many die-hard Aggie tendencies.

I have seen you Texas fan's severely trash Mack time and time again when Texas had lost in the past and i would go after yall for it, so let's not act yall are sol innocent. ;) Before Mack came over, UT was an average to mediocre to good team. They were beyond inconsistent!! Mack annoys me i am not going to lie and he does not seem like the smartest coach but he knows how to recruit talent and he has learned to give his assistant's more power because he did not trust his own coaching game skills. It is paying off!!

You ain't gonna find a post here, or anywhere else, where I said anything bad about Mack. I could see from the beginning that he was the top recruiter in the nation, year in and year out. It was just a matter of time until the talent jelled with the coaching. Do I think Mack is a great coach, no, but I think he has realized that also. As you said, he has learned to delegate the coaching responsibilities to the experts and he does his job as CEO and Recruiter of Talent.

Ok i guess i should have been more specific!! I have seen kt2000 and ktchamp absolutely trash Mack Brown. ;) Ask them if i am lying?? I know it is the truth because i would argue with them for trashing him.

Vince would be deserving of such an award. As of know Vince has rushed for 725 yards and 8 TDs while throwing for 1835 yards and 16 TDs.
Assuming Texas make it to the Big XII game and including a bowl game, Vince is on pace to put up the following numbers...
Rushing - 1178 yards and 13 TDs
Passing - 64% completions for 2982 yards and 26 TDs
I don't care what anybody says, those are Heisman numbers.

AWWWWW, cut 'em some slack, they're young and I'm older and have "big picture" insight. They got me beat in pure knowledge of the sport, but you can't beat age and experience for assessing "the big picture". (yeah right :D :D )

Awards like the Heisman and Maxwell awards are not held for the best athlete in DI College football, nor are they held for the most exciting football player...they're held for the most productive/best football player!
The Heisman and Maxwell voters will ask two questions...
Q: Would USC be undefeated, right now - this year, without Reggie Bush?
A: Yes...Leinart won the Heisman last year and could be a, successfully starting QB in the NFL - right now,.....yet he came back to lead his team to an undefeated season/3rd NC. Smith and Jarrett lead their team and conference in receiving, and Lendale White leads the team in rushing. Bush is icing on the cake...but he has a super team he's playing with.
Q: Would Texas be undefeated, right now - this year, without Vince Young?
A: No...the fact is if you take Vincent Young from UT their team, perhaps, has 3 losses, if not four. He is the heart/head of that team...he's exciting, productive, motivating....and he plays the hardest position on the field. To have 1700 yds passing with 16 tds, and nearly 800 yds rushing with 8 tds, in just 8 games, is ridiculusly awesome. Vince Young is the front runner, IMO, and Bush is a distant second. You can't (as a junior) play QB and have this kind of dominance...and not win! He's what Michael Vick would have been had he'd stayed in school. (He left after his redshirt sophmore year!)
Heisman is all about "situational stats"! If you're the SOLE key as to why your team is the #1 in the nation, you, IMO, become the most productive player in the College Football, therefore the most important.
Vince Young = 2006 Heisman Memorial Trophy Winner and Maxwell Award Winner
Bush (a junior) may or may not comeback next year, but I tell you this....USC becomes more vulnerable, either way, when Leinart leaves.

AND he deserved every last bit of it...it's only a matter of time b4 he remembers he's mack brown and loses a game for Texas...if that's possible with this schedule......he would have lost the ok st. game but VY took it out of his hand and started running...........

I was blasted for saying that he has "***** envy"
Everybody just listen to the guy...read his words...
He obviously has it.
In fact he is a walking, talking definition of it.

wrong USC wouldn't be undefeated this year without Bush, remember he pushed Leinart in the end zone against Notre Dame to win

Wrong...Bush didn't need to...Leinart would have fallen in, anyways! And if that is the basis of your argument, against my argument, then I've made my point!
