For a while there (2001-2005) SGP was rollin and looked like they were on there way to big things. but the last few years it seems as if they have fallen off the map pretty quick. Whats going on at SGP. Was Fisher forced out under pressure or what. Whats going on with SGP

Offically Coach Fisher left for personal reasons. He did not leave due to anything football related.

Coach Davies is the new head coach. He has been the defensive coordinator for some time. That bodes well from a competency standpoint as the defense has been the strength for a while. The jury is out as to how well this translates to the head coaching position.

The team has some solid talent this year. Actually they had some pretty good talent last year. It just seemed squandered and did not gel. Maybe a reflection of coaching, I don't know. That said SGP has been a bit disappointing of late.

If their QB can get the ball to the wideouts then they should be in good shape IMO. True for many teams. In SGPs case this is the big factor. I am thinking the offensive line is improved. So should be no excuses as far as time to release the ball ...

They should make the playoffs. 8-2 is possible.

Can't wait to find out. Really want to see these kids get a break and make some noise.

3 keys to sucess:

1)Run the ball effectively to put the young QB in good situations(Trinity Style)
2)Protect the QB so he isn't rushed to throw
3)QB needs to hit the receivers in stride on target.

If all these happen then your are looking at 9-1.

The O-Line will have to deliver in order for this to happen. The QB and RB will have to perform well.

Defense will need some turnovers, as icing on the cake.:notworthy

This program has been a sleeping giant for a while now - I too would love to see them reach their potential. Way to much talent over there for them not to be making some noise in the playoffs. Here's a nice story on them.

I wish SGP the best of luck this year - after Week 2, that is.

Last years game was a tough one for all of us and I am not talking about the score.

I know its asking for the moon, but it would be great if SGP was able to meet up with Trinity in the playoffs.

And it was a great game. The last win for SGP over ET was 2005.

Go Warriors, Go Trojans, Go Vols.

I am an ET and Bowie fan when they are not playing SGP.
