Terry Tausch from the vikings?????

Yes. Terry played for the Vikings and the 49'ers. He was a UT Longhorn in college. Younger brother Eric will be a senior this fall, and I've heard he has several 1A offers as an OL. Now, Eric is alot bigger then Nick. He goes 6' 3, 285, which is closer to dad's size.

Rumor has it that TCU will soon offer Eric Tausch, and he's indicated that he will most likely commit immediately

I don't have confirmation on this, but I believe Eric Tausch has been offered by La Tech and Southern Miss. His top schools are Baylor & TCU I believe. His fellow OL Brandon Haynes (6' 3, 290) has offers from Utah & Colorado State. His dream school is Kansas, and I think he camped there recently.

If Jesuit has three 1A guys this season, that would be a record. I think they've had one (deep snapper Jack Geiser, who plays at Boston College) in the past three seasons, although they have had some others (Mike Brooks, Kyle Miller, Barrett Bukfin, John Paris) these past three years who were offered but chose a different route. I think they had two (Reggie Stephens - Iowa State & Sean Carney - Tulane) in 2005 sign with 1A schools.

Here's an interesting fact I do know is accurate- there will be three former Rangers playing at 1AA Georgteown University this fall. Georgetown is a Jesuit college in Washington, DC.

Congrats to Nick. I remember the crowd cheering in amazement on some of his booming high and long kickoffs last season. I think he also split time with another good kicker who was a senior. Jesuit to ND- a natural fit. It will be fun watching Nick kick this season, especially if he has gotten better.

Congrats to him. As a father currently paying college tuition, it's always good to see a kid get a free ride.

Does he know how to punt? In the district Jesuit is in next year punting will be much more important then kicking off which will only be done once or twice a game. Only a jesuit guy would announce that a player gets a scholarship. Can you imagine how often Trinity, Garland, Katy, Lufkin,SLC,HP, would have to be online announcing a player got a scholarship. Get over it

This may come as real surpise to you hot rod, but many athletes from Jesuit and other private schools go to college to get an education.

Do you really want to compare the academice accomplishments of Garland students or even Jesuit students compared to HP. I didn't think so. Hot rod....how old are you????

Did I say to compare anything? Check my post slick. I will be 93 on my next birthday in May of this year. For a Jesuit player to get a ride to ND is a big deal, but I would think that more Jesuit athletes will go to higher ranked academic schools.

Wayne Heimuli from STATE CHAMP ET received a scholarship from here (Georgetown) and will be starting in the fall.

These Jesuit people really talk the talk. Unfortunately they cannot do the walk. My Jesuit alum "friend" boasts how great the football team is, I guess it is when a Div I scholarship is a rare prize! How many will Carter send Div I?

His senior year at jesuit will prepare him for ND. It might be good practice for him to learn to punt, ND will be doing alot of that in the future.

I did not realize ND needed a kicker. They went 3 and out so often last season I figured this year they would use that scholorship for another punter. Now I see the light, Jesuit trains kicker/punters since they go 3 and out as equally often. He'll get well prepared this season when the little rangers go up to Plano and Allen.

Wow! I need to stick to practicing law and avoid this web-site. My intention was to boast (yes I'm a Jesuit alum) about a young man who's worked very hard to get the opportunity to get a degree from ND and play football for the Irish for free. I expect the response from "scottie2" since he is so insecure he has to put down Jesuit. Scottie2, I think HP's football program is stronger than Jesuit's. I think HP is a fine school. I have lots of HP friends. My father is an HP alum. I'm not a fan of all aspects of HP, but that is not important here. Nick Tausch is a class act, and I think what happened yesterday was awesome. I have no idea how Jesuit will do against the mighty Plano schools, but I bet they compete, even though they have a 4A enrollment, fewer coaches, fewer 1A athletes, and no feeder system. I think it is strange that folks always want to put down others on this board. I am a huge Trinity fan. Their football program is awesome, and their staff does a great job. HP is always good at football. Garland I don't know too much about, but I wateched them play Carter in a playoff game at Texas Stadium a few years back, and they were loaded with talent. Jesuit, by my count, has had 8 1A scholarship kids out of hs since 2000. According to their HC, they've had another six turn down 1A offers and either not play or play at a lower level. I know of two that fit that description, and 1 took a partial track scholarship at wake Forest while the other plays football at Harvard. Anyway, sorry I even posted what I did. Sometimes I like to brag on my Rangers.

Don't lump everyone on this board into that category. I've never understood the Jesuit bashing that goes on here and am genuinely happy for their player landing the scholarship to ND. The world is full of people who feel threatened by someone else's success, even when that "someone" is a 17 year old kid.

Alot of this garbage you are talking about is from posters that a just kids themselves. But yes there are some thar cant stand ANYTHING good about a players or team other than from thier school, and they are older, at least say they are. There is a certain amount of trash on this board, thats the way it is. Its easy sometimes to show them to be the fools they are. It can be enjoyable in the offseason. Go Rangers!!!!!

No kidding. Kind of weird if you ask me. I think it's pretty cool to see a kid sign anywhere, and a little more when I see their name pop up on a Saturday afternoon when I can say to myself, "I remember that guy".

Last DFW kicker that went to ND(that I remember)was Matt McNew from Lamar.

ND has actually taken two kickers in this class. From what I read....Nick is supposed to be the kicker and the other guy(Ben Turk) will be the punter.

You'll never learn will you, Ohio? How is announcing that a kid commiting to a D1 school considered to be "talking the talk"? None of the Jesuit backers here have talked about winning district and beating Plano, Allen, Plano West. That's called "talk". By the way, Carter is at most sending 4 guys D1 this year. Jesuit's got 3. If you lived here long enough instead of reading about Texas high school football in a little book, you would know that Carter isn't top dog in the state anymore

You obviously haven't been here long enough to realize that people are proud to announce when a player from their school gets a chance to go to college for free on a scholarship....there is nothing wrong with that...Trinity, SLC, katy, Lufkin, Garland, HP have all announced at different times when their player has commited to a college.

What on earth would a Highland Park guy have to be jealous over at Jesuit. Spoken by a guy who supports Houston Dynamo soccer

What does this have to do with anything? One of my best friends plays on the Houston Dynamo so I like to support them.

Whats wrong with supporting the Dynamo? The Twice defending MLS champs.

And if your not jealous why are you complaining about a guy giving props to a kid for earning a free college education?

Props to Nick by the way, its always great to see a kid earn something for their hard work.

It is not fair to compare Carter and Jesuit. Jesuit accepts only the top kids academically in 9th grade, and Carter has to take all who live in the district. Jesuit should have more graduate from college, but there are probably many fine students at Carter. Carter has better athletes, and that is a fact. I think they've played twice over the past 12 years, and each team one once.

HP Fan, either you are jealous or you have some deep seeded hatred for Jesuit. I've read many of your posts, and all seem to bash Jesuit. If neither of the above is to, maybe penile surgery can correct your problem. Or, buy a new BMW to impress the ladies.

Nick Tausch is the second former Ranger in the past 10 years to choose the Irish. The other was Omar Jenkins, a WR who played at ND from 2001-2004, I think. An interesting fact about both: both attended the same middle school (St. Rita), a parochial school next door to Jesuit.

Didn't Omar make it to the NFL? He didn't do anything significant obviously but I heard he made a team

Congrats. I think anytime one of these players can get a scholarship to a school like ND, it is a real big deal and worth talking about. Graduating from ND is not bad folks. :)

The folks that put this down are in all likelihood not getting a scholarship to a D1 school themselves. If they were, they would have more respect for it.

If Highland Park does not win at least 3 State Championships a year it is a disappointing year. I will take the high road here and quit slamming the private school teams that sued their way into the UIL.
