I know that Carroll did not lose, but the last two weeks I have been billing them as somewhat invincible and it was proven tonight that they are not. They played really bad and Grapevine played really well. I will not make any excuses, please feel free to post whatever you want.

Congrats to SLC for pulling it out - but one of these games you're gonna not be so lucky on that final drive. You've flirted with that issue 4 times in two years.

To win the big prize and play as many games as teams have to play to get there, every team will have at least one or more of these kinds of games. Last year it was Keller. There will be more like this in the playoffs and lets just hope the Dragons can keep the ball rolling. What a great job of making the plays when they absolutely had to have them. That tells a lot about a football team when you're faced with a situation like that and you overcome...no matter who the opponent is.

SLC laid a big white egg Friday night! I stood next to a Grapevine fan the last 6 minutes of the ball game & he said Grapevine played way over their heads and SLC did not come to play. Either way, what a sloppy/uninspired ball game from the Dragons. For the 3rd week in a row, they could not run the ball. Against Grapevine, they had trouble throwing the ball. Good gosh, how many times did we punt?? Must have been a record.

I would like to make a formal apology to the fine people in Longview. I gave you a bunch of grief over you narrow victory of Longview.

Like I said on another thread..every year the good teams get a test..Carroll passed and Trinity failed...there were some factors that distracted Carroll, not an excuse, some players were noticably absent & it effected the guys..great game by Grapevine..their D played the game of the season for them...

How ironic that we haven't been able to run the last 3 weeks. Guess what player hasn't played? Moorefield is a big guy, but he just doesn't have the elusiveness and game breaking potential as Tre. I did like when Riley went in at RB. McElroy and Riley in the same backfield, ridiculous.

Isn't it funny that you need a running game at every level - doesn't matter if you're SLC, TexasTech or Philadelphia Eagles - you gotta be able to run or it eventually catches you.

We'll be fine running the ball fine...once we have all the pieces back..Grapevine had a good defensive game plan & played very well..all props to thier D

It's possible Tre' may not play until the playoffs. He is being held out as a precaution. SLC REALLY missed Ortega (kickoffs, FGs). Ford played well replacing Simpson especially with the big INT. It helps that he has been in the cb rotation.

yes it does, but simpson's absence was known, as was oretega's, they both expected to return next week? or holding them off till playoffsl ike tre?

Not sure about Scott yet, Ortega should be playing next week. I doubt that they use him in excess though. Don't be suprised if the dragons go for alot of 4th downs. He just needs to make sure that it is not re-aggravated and take it easy.

Hey congrats on your tough win. There are a lot of people on here that wants SLC to lose and game just any game so they can call you out. I myself want you guys to win ,and if we meet again then that,s when I want you to lose :) . Good teams like SLC find a way to win the games like you played last night. All these other poster are just jealous because at sometime or other ,you guys beat them. How bout that "pack " last night against the Woodlands.

what bothers me is that no one gives Grapevine's O any credit. Obviously those posters don't do any homework. GV'sw QB was leading all DFW QB's going into last night's game with over 2K yards. It was no surprise that they could move the ball. I was very pleased that we held them to like 250 yards total. people also criticized McElroy's game. He had his highest yardage total of the year , but one ill advised toss that ended in an IT that kept SLC out of the endzone right before halftime. Other than that, he had a very solid game running and passing.

Some posters acted like SLC was lucky to pull it out. Look at the stats. 2X Grapevine in yardage and 1st downs. And by the way, GV didn't move the ball to the SLC 16 yardline on their last drive as others have said. They were on the 30. The pass was picked off on the 16 and GV had no time outs left anyway. The way the defense had shut them out in the 2nd half, I would say luck had nothing to do with the Dragon's win. If GV had pulled it out, then that would have been luck based the lack of time remaining on the clock and based on the previous uncharacteristic turnovers.

Grapevine played with true heart and kept it close. They are most likely a playoff bound team and played inspired ball against their neighboring rivals.

I was very proud of the Dragons and this tough game will even give them more confidence should (I mean when) a close game occurs in the playoffs.

On any given night a team can be beat. I was shocked that ET GOT BEAT but if you going to loose now is the time. When play-offs come it,s no time to go down.Look at Lee last year, they had two or three defeats and won D1 tittle. So if you thought you could not be beat then I guess you should eat some crow......".just kidding" :D

In my mind it was the GV Defense that played the game of the season for them..Carroll outstatted them across the board offensively, but could'nt score against their D...GV's D had the pick for a score or they would'nt have been in the game at all...

I would rather see all three held out next week so that SLC goes into the playoffs as close to 100% healthy as possible. It is doubtful that a game against Richland will look anything like the game against GV. It would seem like SLC's need for the playoffs are 1. Tre': He will balance the offense against good defenses so that they will not need to depend on FGs as much, 2. Ortega: Just in case a high pressure FG is needed, and 3. Simpson: To keep fresh dbs on the field.

I would think it would be very difficult for him to make it back to play at a level needed in the playoffs as a db. With his type of injury there is too much dependence on change of direction to keep up with a WR.

I do not believe that Crow should be on the Dragon Menu yet. Grapevine played a great game and the Dragon Defense carried the day for the Dragons. The Dragons found a way and a will to win that should serve them well during the playoffs. I only hope that SLC got out of their system all the turnovers and bonehead plays. Not taking anything away from Grapevine. They outplayed the Dragons the first half. SLC won the 3rd quarter and it was a draw in the 4th. The Dragons shut down the best passer in the DFW area and a very potent offense. I think that there were a lot of new things tried to generate some offense and I believe that the Dragons will only be getting better because of the adversity that they faced in this game.

No Crow neccessary .....yet!

AMEN!!!

Katy smart A to interject.......... We won 37-6 but it was lackluster. Katy lacked the killer instinct and made many of the fans wonder if they will be successful deep in the playoffs. I started thinking that maybe since it's late in the season these other teams that are playing front runners, who have already clinched playoff spots, are in a dogfight to secure a 2nd or 3rd spot in the playoffs from their district. Therefore they bring their 'A' game and take it to you. On the other hand, if you've already got a spot in the playoffs as district champ then you might not be as focused. Just a thought.
ET, SLC & Longview will probably be just fine next week.

no, in all honesty, not taking anything away from gpvine, but we just came out and sucked. and gpvine, played an extremly well game, the reason we won, was we made the plays when we NEEDED them, and thats the diffrence between winning and losing
