Some people think these camps are a big joke...I'm not one of them...Could be another Jacob Hester right here....Just sayin-never know...Kid might pick up an Oklahoma offer(I doubt it, but could)....I believe Auburn and Ole Miss showing the most interest according to the read...

"Henderson, a fullback from Benton, La., impressed the Oklahoma coaches enough that an offer may be on the way.

"It went real good," Henderson said. "I met the coaches and they talked to me and want me to come to Oklahoma now."

Henderson made the biggest impression on the coaches with his blocking against some top prospects.

"I think I did pretty good, real good," he said. "We were doing the blocking scheme and I was blocking some linebacker and I think he was ranked like the No. 9 linebacker in the nation and I did really well against him. I had never really talked to Oklahoma. I was really hoping to impress them and look for an offer."

True, but I was basically comparing body types at the fullback position-both are bowling balls....When Jacob came out he was a 2-star and the #22 rated prospect in Louisiana....Henderson after just one camp this summer got 3- stars...Henderson might be good pick-up for someone, even LSU...

I like the fact Henderson is going to alot of these camps though...Be honest I've never heard of the kid, but he might do a small "something" somewhere a coach likes/noticing-like blocking or whatnot....Could be a Hester-never know...

Dandy Don must be falling down on the job. There is a lot of Louisana sleepers this year. ;) Texas Tech picked up a 5'11, 175, 4.3 athelte from Lake Charles few knew about for whatever reason. He may also run Indoor Track for Tech too, in the 60 meter dash.

Dandy getting alittle old..:)

Tech is getting a good one, but they don't know it yet-I don't think...They want everyone to be a Michael Crabtree ...(lol)

Baylor got them a Barbe, La kid (Trey Harts) that is running track for the Bears...Looks like he's doing pretty well so far in different events...I don't think he plays football at Baylor though...

Trey Harts won two Big 12 titles and earned three All-Big 12 honors on Saturday.

I figure Celestine can help our average at best KR, be a good PR, a good receiver if he can catch, or a good CB if he can't.

I was just teasing Dandy Don. He does a great job. He told us Brian Duncan was a legit LB prospect and wished LSU offered. Brian turned out alright last season and should start again next season.

Dandy Don does a pretty decent job.....I believe his dentures are purple and gold...(lol)

No, just kidding-he takes his website seriously and is really not that bad a judge of talent...I check out his site sometimes...I don't always agree with Dandy though...

There are a lot of "Crabtree-type" athletes out there. The problem is that to get them to produce Crabtree like numbers, you have to get them to go to Tech. There is nothing special about Crab from a size, speed or athleticism standpoint. You put a Russell Shepard or Darryl Stonum type athlete in Crab's place and I promise you Crab's numbers wouldn't look quite so special. Bottom line is that Crab is just the first truly good athlete Leach has ever had at WR.

Disagree with your assessment of Crab's lack of being "special." Leach has had 8 seasons to chunk the ball repeatedly to guys. #5 does it differently, and I do not think he has peaked. He is definitely a unique athlete. Maybe not in the "measurables, but when it comes to YAC, seperation, and body control, Crabtree has already demonstrated that he is indeed very special.

BTW, mickey peters was quite the athlete, especially in track as a hurdler.

Carlos Francis was very athletic, but lacked the size of Crabtree.

Robert Johnson was potentially Crabtree, before we knew what #5 was going to end up being.

Tech has had good athletes at WR, but not those 5* guys with all that and a bag of chips going for them that you're used too...;)

You got a valid point...Crabtree is good no doubt and Tech use him pretty often...

Dwayne Bowe caught 145 balls in his entire career at LSU added 26 TD's
Craig "Buster" Davis caught 141 balls in his LSU career and added 7 TD's...Most people never heard of Buster..

Michael Crabtree caught 132 balls and put up 22 TD's last year alone...

That being said Bowe and Buster were picked in the first round of the 2007 NFL draft at #23 and #30...

All three were 4 Stars coming out of High School...

Tech has never had great talent at WR. Welker, Filani, Hicks, etc. were the best prior to Crab and none of them were great talents by any stretch of the imagination. Good... of course, but not overly talented. Crab is the first true talent Leach has had at the WR position and by that I mean size, speed, moves, etc. and it's not even close. Crab is a very good athlete, but nothing special. Calvin Johnson was special. Roy Williams was special. Mike Williams was special. Crab is far from special, but could get there one day.

It's all a matter of perspective. Compared to other Tech WRs, Crab is a god. Compared to other top WRs in college football over the past few years, Crab is just very good. People are getting too caught up in the numbers. Crab caught 134 passes for 1962 yards and 22 TDs. Troy Edwards caught 140 passes for 1996 yards and 27 TDs in '99. Trevor Insley caught 134 passes for 2060 yards in '99. Anybody want to call those guys "special" athletes? Anybody want to guess where they are now?

i agree with just about your entire post...but as for the 2 other wr's you compared crabtree to, they both were undersized and probably not even close to athletically gifted as crabtree...one was 6'0 190, the other 5'10 190. it's one thing to put up numbers...it's another to do it but at the same time actually have nfl potential...just look at that wideout who just recently played at new hampshire and broke jerry rice's td record (i believe)...dude put up numbers, but was undersized and took advantage of the system.

I don't know about Insley, but obviously the NFL thought Edwards had NFL potential since he was a 1st round pick. Crab is going to have two things working against him going into the draft. One, the "product of the system" tag. Two, he's not going to put up overwhelming combine numbers. He'll be a low-mid 4.5 guy which will cause a few teams to drop him some on their boards. Most though will ignore that and focus more on his agility and receiving drills. It will be interesting to see how he does there. In terms of measurables and ability, I see a lot of Dwayne Bowe in Crab and expect him to measure the same... 6-2 210-220 w/ 4.5 speed. The interesting thing is that if you add a tenth of a second to that 40 time, you have a Joel Filani clone.

Be interesting to see it play out in the next couple years...

For the record though Bowe ran a 4.4 at the LSU Pro Day and Buster Davis had a 4.41....That probably offset any production issues...

Some of the highlights on the day for the Tigers include Bowe running a 4.40 40-yard dash and defensive back Daniel Francis being clocked at 4.41. Davis ran a 4.44 in his first 40-yard dash and then followed that with a 4.41 clocking.
