My daughters did a cheer with the Varsity cheerleaders at Midway High here in Waco tonight. And as the wife and I are walking up to the stadium...I noticed something. I could actually count the number of people on the Killeen Kangaroos side of the field. As we got closer I told my wife..."Look at that...that is just sad"....I counted 18 people (ended up being just over 30 when the game started) and NO BAND...? What's the deal Roos? There were more players there...than fans.

I mean it's not like the commute from Killeen to Waco is that far...it's about 35 minutes...

To be totally honest...It pissed me off.

Did these boys sweat their ***** off during 2-a-days...and give their heart and soul...So Mom and Dad could sit on their butts at home and not come support them? Our girls aren't even in HS...and other than our kids being students within the Midway school district...we have no connections with either team....And we were there...why weren't the parents of the players there?

We are Texas...this is a tradition...this is what we are known for....
and tonight...the bleachers across from us...didn't look like Friday night in Texas...sad ....that's what it was.

Killeen ISD screwed up majorly when they built Harker Heights High and Shoemaker. It seriously killed anything that Killeen High and Killeen Ellison had. I remember going to Leo Buckley or even them coming into Waco and they had a HUGE following. Their support now is worse than Waco High's.

Perhaps it is due to the fact that a lot of these kids are military. Perhaps their parents are deployed or getting ready to deploy. A lot has to happen for those type of things.

Just offering my opinion about the lack of patronage. I do not know about the band. Have a good evening.

Didn't mean to sound like a jerk. It's just that I seriously doubt almost an entire football team's parents/family are deployed all at the same time.

Forget that deployed stuff. The roos program is not that great. I'm a Cove fan and when we played the roos at Leo we had more fans then they did. It's all about the program. Cove fans travel NO matter where the game is. It's not about parents being deployed or our schools in the area. It's about the program. GO DAWGS GO!!!!!!!!!

Their program is actually not as bad as you think. They won their district last year and made the playoffs and are in position to do the same this year. As for their fan support I don't know as Shoemaker, Heights, and even Ellison seem to have good support and it's all the same school district.

30 is terrible. We could draw at least 50-100 for our soccer games in Mt. Pleasant and that was for a new program with a lousy record having to play far more established teams.

I think it really is all about the program. Attendance at Lake games has fallen dramatically from last year. We packed Rice stadium nearly every game, even with alums that don't even go to the HC games. We were rivaling the Katy army at Rice, as well as the practically home smithson valley crowd at the alamodome last year.
This year we had maybe a little over 100 in the stands against Alvin, and many students didn't even show up for Homecoming.
Our BBQ-tailgating club (which is a new club and has little starting funds) might not make it to next year because no one wants to celebrate or support a bad team; last year we had an unoffical club and every tailgate was packed.
It really is depressing how many fairweather fans there are nowdays, what happened to sticking with a team through good and bad.

We had a Saturday game against Bryan and our band wasnt at the game. We smoked Bryan on our way to the 13-5a championship. We outnumbered the Bryan fans 2-1. And at AMC what happened to their huge crowd... I saw a number of empty seats
