Well it is about to be halftime and the pack is up 28 to 7 over the woodlands.
The Pack does not loose at home at good old ABE. The panthers are playing great football and the Defense is just amazing so far tonight they have 2 int's ran back for TD. and the Offense is just clicking and catching everything this panther team is special and they have a great season going. and the pack will still keep playing hard and playing with a mission the coaches at lufkin will not let them get the big head.
Lets Go Panthers

Its 28-14 LP up at half time right now. But take away those two defensive touchdowns and the score would be 14-14. This game is far from over and Lufkin is having some problems with the Woodlands running game. Hold on to your hat. The 2nd half is going to be a great ride.

the RB they have from Lousiana is a beast he has 129 yards on the pack tonight he is the real deal they say he ran a 10.4 in the 100 and he has only been there for like the last 4 or so games so if they have him any earlier then who knows what they may have done against NS.
The pack is going to be hard to beat and they are playing great football.

Well Duke looks like the pack got the best of you guys. That defense is not so tough after all. Lufkin,s defense was clicking on all cylinders tonight. The only thing going for Woodlands was #1 that kid can scoot but just could not get in the end zone enough.Shanle had so much daylight on that one pass that he forgot to hold the ball, and Hewitt just keeps picking them off. ;)

Good game. The Defense did give up a lot of yards but they made up for that in the turnover department. I think The Woodlands running attack will give a lot of teams fits during the playoffs. They were pretty impressive. Good luck to The Woodlands in the playoffs.

No doubt! I tell ya what The Woddlands' running game was impressive. They just line up in a 2 TE set and run a lot of draw plays. With that big line they had up there, it worked quite well. They still don't have a passing game though. Two of the ints their QB threw were just horrible throws. He does a good job of handing it off to #1 though.

The LP defense was not clicking on all cylinders tonight but they played very good. They played well at times but i was let down a little by coach quick more then the d. Yes they had 3 scores for td's which is unbelievable but they gave up too many yards that they would normally do because quick decided to go back to his old mode of hardly every blitzing and playing conservative. They have been very very agressive all year and have been very successful and all of the sudden they get tentative again i do not get it?? When they blitz tonight they had a lot of success but they did not do much of it?? Not sure why?? Odd?? Do not get me wrong the defense played a great game. Anytime you score 3td's on defense you played very good. I just thought they could have played much better if they stayed aggressive. They do better in that scheme i am telling you. Lufkin moved the ball in the air with ease on The Woodlands and Claybon was very very sharp. He is only gettting better. Turner was hurt so Shankle got the ball more at rb. Shankle missed a for sure td on the first play of the game when claybon hit him in stride. Shankle still had a very good game. Hewitt is just Hewitt and Dez is just Dez they are great. Overall, a impressive victory but i was not surprised to tell you the truth. Long way to go!!

I was not very impressed with him. He cannot take a hit from what I saw. D.J. Smalls is the better of the two in my opinion. The best thing that TWHS brought to the field tonight was the play of the LB squad. Those kids know how to play the position, and each of them do it exceptionally well.
THE PACK "D" was too much for Motague and Smalls. Both were pretty beaten up by the end of the game. Montague coughed up the ball on his first try up the middle. THE PURPLE SWARM made a statement tonight for sure. 14-5A is theirs, and NOBODY comes to OL' ABE and leaves with a "W".

I disagree #1 was very impressive to me!! he is fast and great moves and has a little power. The defense let to many plays have success to the outside for them I know i am hard on this great defense but i just know how good they are so it shocks me when they give up stuff like that. I give props to The Woodlands though because they blocked the panther defense better then anybody all year. Lufkin's d still held them to 17 points and scored 3 td's so it was still a good game. I am just used to complete domination. LOL

Pack08, the reason Quick changed his defense was because of #1, you blitz and guess wrong that guy would have been gone. He laid the LB's back in order to try to bottle him up somewhat. Montague, #1 was the quickest and fastest runner run we have faced since Vondrell McGee from Longview.
I was on the sidelines for a bit and believe me that guy was fast, it is a good thing that the Lufkin defense has lots of speed .
Still lookng for more consistency from our juniors on offense, other wise a good job by those guys.
Jamie Fernandez really did the job tonight, this time it was his punting. he really put the Woodlands in a hole a few times. LP special teams had a couple of breakdowns but overall a satisfactory effort.

I cannot understand that!! You play your game and do not let one player dictate what you do as a unit. Lufkin had a lot of success when they blitzed tonight. Either way they played a good game but it is just made me worry a little when he went back to his conservative ways. The offense is still very explosive. Claybon looked great throwing the ball tonight. He has a rifle!! Nice to ralph in there as the 2nd string qb over mr. turnover king. sorry i had to steal your line lpfan. LOL

I never said he wasn't fast. He is extremely quick, but not the dominant player I was expecting to see. TWHS started going exclusively to the outside, becuse they were getting killed in the middle. With speed like that, why wouldn't they try to get the corners. There were some great blocking techniques and stunts, but when #1 would get hit, he went down 95% of the time. He looks much more powerful than he plays. I was very impressed with the heart and ability of Smalls. I just thought he was the better of the two. if TWHS had a better QB, and could utilize Drabek more, it may have been a better game.
I'm just glad I got to see it. My home burned last Saturday in Dallas, and I thought I was going to have to cancel my trip to L-town this weekend. Glad I got to be here for a great game. I hope both teams represent 14-5A well in the playoffs.

No problem. I figured we would see Ralph in as back up QB because I saw him taking a lot of snaps at practice earlier in the week. I just did not say anything because I didn't wan't to get anybody's hopes up that we would have him instead of King. It sure was a relief to see Ralph go in as the back up.

Good game Lufkin ! There goes my 4 point victory prediction. Your cornerbacks are tough & picked some passes.
What impressed me the most was that we had your RB covered & he turned it the other direction for a TD. The impressive thing was that your other players picked up on it & busted some Woodland defenders.
It's all about blocking. You did a great job! Congrads !
I'm now going to leave & lick my wounds...

Ok I read that but I don't see where he is saying anything about playing ET. He said that with ET losing that would keep the Panthers head on straight. The way I read it is that he is meaning that if a great team like ET can be beat so can Lufkin. It seems like he is just saying that even though we are good, we are not unbeatable. But hey I already knew that and have been saying that since the beginning of the season. I think you just read to far into his statement and got the wrong thing out of it. Like I said before we all know ET is going D1 and if you win or lose it does not have any bearing on what Lufkin does.

Are you the all mighty guardian for Trinity? No one spoke of them in a derogatory manner. You sound like an overly upset ET fan. One loss doesn't mean their season is over. I think they still have an excellent chance to win the D1 championship. After all, last years champ had three losses.

I think the path to the D2 championship might get a little rougher depending on how Grapevine plays Colleyville Heritage next Friday. If CHHS wins then SLC will go D2 if not then SLC goes D1. Even if SLC is not in the D2 to set up a rematch of the classic Lufkin/SLC games then SGP served notice that they will be reckoned with in the playoffs this year by beating the "unbeatable" Trinity.

I think the PACK did well the other night. Regarless of the score, The Woodlands was the best team we have played this year. There are always things to improve on and Lufkin still can do that. Pack08 and Stang84 probably know that the running game was short one link (Turner) Friday, but The Woodlands run D was pretty good. We need to improve there. We may see a little Trevon Lewis or the Evans kid in the playoffs.
I had some folks from New York with us at the game Friday and they really had a great Texas HS experience at Abe. Also went to A&M on Saturday, they won't forget their first exposure to Texas football very soon.

Wide, you are right. I am really glad we put the Abe Martin experience on them first, they really were impress about the whole thing, they said you would never find anything like this at a high school in NY. The atmosphere at A&M was good, but the team really is bad. The two fly overs they had, one before the game and at half time by two F-18 Hornets and two F-16 were very nice. Got to see George W. Sr. there as well. The football game was an embar-***-ment to the Aggies at home. If you think the Aggie Alumni are not happy now, wait until Tech, Texas and maybe Oklahoma get through with them. I really feel bad for Reggie and they hardly used Lane at all. Big disappointment. Sorry, should have put that on the college links.

Yeah watching Reggie and the guys losing this much bothers me too.
True...I do not like aggy...and I am not bashful about my opinions on their football team. But I always wanted Reggie to do well. And looks like almost his entire career at aggy will go down as a huge waste of talent.

After two weeks of pounding the opposing D with a dose of Lane I don't know why they didn't even try it again this week. Maybe they had a good reason not to and since I am not a college coach I guess I will never understand why they didn't. I was just very disappointed that he didn't get many carries and I think he could have helped them move the ball more effectively. As far as the defense goes, I don't know what to think about that. Needs a lot of work.
