Rockwall - Heath Takes the Plano SQT with a last second TD.
Rockwall Heath and Plano West played in the final game and despite Plano West great defensive effort Heath was able to make a TD on a last minute two play drive.
Congratulations to the Hawks and the Wolfpack for making it to the State Tourny.
The Semi Final games had Heath beating Skyline and West beating SGP.
Look out 10-4A Heath Got Game!!
MQD - better put West on your radar for 08-09 season.
Cheers,
~

What happened to the highly talented Matt Brown and company from Allen?
No Dan Buckner? A preview of things to come? Interesting!!!!!

Even better question is what happened to the extremely highly talented Plano trio; Meger, Lott, Burkhead?
I guess what it tells you is that 7 on 7 is a whole different beast! Neither team even made it to the semis!

Congrats to Rockwall Heath !
It was interesting to watch the initial pool play (Pool D). There was some very good games -- Allen vs Rockwall, Allen vs SGP.
Rockwall has a lot of work to do :o:confused:

You are correct. They all tied as Rockwall beat SGP, Allen beat Rockwall, and SGP beat Allen.. Thus the tie breaker is total points..
Allen=79, Rockwall=87, SGP=98
ps: was there.:D

I watched the Heath, PESH, Jesuit, Hebron pool. Heath went undefeated, beating PESH 32-19, Hebron (not their top bunch) 32-12, and Jesuit (not sure of the final, but I think it was 35-20). Jesuit was down 21-20 to Heath and they got a pick but did not convert. Heath scored twice to pull away. PESH is loaded with talent, but they are still playing multiple QB's. Jesuit dropped too many passes and potential INT's, and they look slow on defense. Heath was playing the best 7-on-7, but they are very quick and athletic. Hebron, for a backup bunch, played well. Jesuit beta them 41-32, but it was a good game. I am surprised Heath won the tournament, but I wouldn't make the win more than it is: a 7-on-7 win. I'm sure many schools were missing talented players for various reasons. Jesuit was minus their best WR, another good WR, and two starting LB's. I didn't see any other games, but I heard Skyline was impressive to see. The grass field at Clark Stadium are very impressive. The refs we had were horrible: counting four seconds without a clock, not calling some serious physical play, and having no clue how much time was left. For a qualifying tournament, they was disappointing. Overall, a great morning of play, though.

I witnessed it for my own eyes, Skyline was impressive to see. They seem emotionally down after Mike Davis(WR) went down during the final minutes of the Plano game. They also started very flat against Heath. Once Mike Davis returned, the team tried to pick it back up, but time ran out while marching in to tie it up. You can tell they were waiting on the 11:00 game with Plano. Lott and Burkhead made plays, but they needed some help against Skyline. All of Skyline WR's including RB James White made plays all day long. QB's Javia Hall and Chris Frazier played well. Hall played almost the entire Plano game. Congrats to Heath and P. West. But I am fired up about my raiders.

I stopped by and saw Pool B as well.
My thoughts:
Heath: Boy, do they have some talent and leadership! Hollingshead looks great calling out the plays. It's always nice to have good athletes, including Mr. Showtime (Kendial Lawrence) at RB. But Hollingshead took over, keeping the offense running smooth by limiting turnovers and making crucial passes. The defense looks great. The LB's look like specimens, especially Austin Moss. I think Heath is primed to make a nice run in the fall.
PESH: PESH looks pretty solid. I think their QBs are coming along well after the departure of Riko. Of the two, I like the taller, African-American one (I think his name is Brandon). He's smart and accurate and looks like a two-way threat. The receivers run good routes, and Toben Opurum looks good running on the field. He is a nice receiving threat, and I'd sure hate to tackle that guy in the open field (6'5'' 240). The defense looks athletic, and you can always expect the best from Josh Peprah.
Jesuit: Jesuit looked decent out there, but like RangerFan said they looked like they were missing some guys out there. I noticed that Brent Miller took all the snaps yesterday and his backup, Jackson Oliver played receiver. The receiving corps looks mediocre, dropping too many balls. Hopefully those two WRs can provide a boost. They struggled defensively, but showed signs of them coming along for a really young unit. The starting secondary showed some good stuff, intercepting a couple passes. The missing starters could've provided a boost at LB, but the group hung in tough and turned in a good effort, especially Jack Percy. Mario Bolanos and Jimmy Gross still need to fine tune their coverage skills a little, but they looked solid.
Hebron JV: Pretty good unit for backups. Their receivers run good routes and their QB can get the ball there. Would love to see how their Varsity Squad looks like
I will say SGP had a real good showing for it first ever time in SQT event the o-show took some time to warm up, But once it got going against Rockwall it was on and popping like popcorn. SGP has a talent group of wideouts and there defense backs played really well getting 7 ints on the day very impressive for a group of players. The two QB did real well and gain some good experience. As a group the entire 7 on 7 sqt did well, if it was not for some unexpected miss calls in the Plano West game SGP would have been playing RockWall Heath but hey that how the ball bounce in 7 on 7.

I imagine SGP and Skyline will both have enough to make the state tournament...the SQT used the Dallas chapter much like Frisco Liberty so the quality of refs was split as there were some good ones and bad ones at both....fort worth chapter is light years better than the dallas chapter when it comes to 7 on 7
