Lakeland I've heard mostly a junior laden squad.......so next year they should have a solid squad as Southlake Carroll.......I know that Carroll might be looking for a national match-up and that would be a good one to get them in Texas!

anything is possibe, not all things are probable. There will be an UIL realignment next year and I do not know how many non-district games will be available to be sheduled. SLC has already played its Home/away series with Midland Lee, and Plano East. Coppell might still be schduled becuase of the long rivialry. That would leave at the most 2 games to be schduled. There are several other options with teams that would love to get a tast of the Dragons but it will not be decided on a discussion board.

Carroll will have to replace almost its entire team next year. There are 52 seniors on the 2005 squad. If this game would happen, which I hope it doesn't, it would probably be early in the season when Carroll is still trying to find itself. I am not a big proponent of the out of state "circus" matchups. There are so many Texas teams that would be better for Carroll to play and that I would rather see as well.

The circus games are a mixed blessing. Lots of distractions, but get the kids ready for intense games down the road.
Next years Dragons will have the QB, RB set but will need to add some kids to the O-line and recievers. On defense SLC will need to replace some big shoes on the D-line as well as linebacker and secondary. I think the offense will be great again but the defense will need to jell a little. I think the spread on the games will not be so great but that the Dragons will find a way to win anyway.

circus games are not intense, they are just a circus filled with distractions. They serve no purpose in getting the kids ready to play down the road

By intense I mean the whole atmostphere where the kids have to focus on the task at hand and not get distracted with all the trappings and hoopla! Playing these type of games prepares the kids to play playoff type of games with all the distractions and hype! I think it gives the kids expericence in how to handle the pressue of a totally hyped game and does give an advantage to a team when it gets into the playoffs.

I think that can be accomplished by bringing the JV up for the playoffs the previous years. The kids on the team now are used to the distractions that they went through that the previous years. The coaching staff is good and the kids are mature enough to not need a circus game in the preseason to prepare for the playoffs

I am not advocating a circus game, just saying that there are some bennifits from it but I do not know if the bennifits outwiegh the confusion and distractions that they cause.

*IF* the streak doesn't end this year, and my gosh it sure could.. It'll be even more in jeopardy next year.
We graduate an absolute ton of talent. We graduate every receiver that's caught a pass this year so far, almost the entire defense, and our kicker.
Tre and Riley can't do it all alone.

I am not sure if their Louisiana experience is any more than Carroll's ESPN experience from last year.

Yeah we do graduate alot of talent. But that has been said for the past 2 years. Players like lehane, russo, padron, ford's, and alot of others will be back. Plus it is a long spring and summer, players will step up. We will be back.

SLC would lose that game.. As much as I hate anything and everything about Florida, SLC would lose.

I doubt SLC would lose but it will never happen so everyone will be happy and can always claim that us/them would win/lose.

Up in New Jersey, the public schools that have to play with Bergen Catholic, St. Joe's, and Don Bosco are flipping out and they want to change up the way the league is done so they each only have to play one catholic school a year or something...
Anyway, long story short...the "big 3" of NJ will have 3-4 non-league games freed up now, and rumor mill has Don Bosco talking with some teams in Texas for 2006.
SLC-Don Bosco Prep??
In 2003, they were supposed to play De La Salle on ESPN but their league members were a bunch of pansies and denied them the chance to play it citing recruiting advantages. 2003 Don Bosco was a top 5 team nationally.

Doubt SLC will play out of state games while Coach Dodge is Dragon Coach. Dodge has stated repeatedly (paraphrased), "Why travel out of state? Southlake Carroll can travel but a short distance in North Texas and play some of the best teams in Texas and U.S." If one is to take stock in the major national high school polls, TX is very well represented...more so than any other state. Additionally, watched the Lakeland game the other night. While accurate assessment of a team cannot be made by watching one game on TV, I saw what looked like one mediocre one dimension team thrash another one dimension team in an obvious mismatch. In fact, second team looked/performed like a little above average TX 5A Jr. Varsity team. Additionally, have seen some of the other top FL teams and hyped players play this year in person. Not impressive by TX standards is understatement.
