Chris Williams is one of the best in the state. Unfortunately for Chris he lives in west Texas instead of the metroplex or Houston. I can't Wait to see him give the metroplex hell again next season.

Why is it unfortunate that Chris lives here in West Texas. Our competition level didn't suffer because of our location. We play Austin Westlake, Mesquite, and Tyler Lee in pre district all from East Texas for the most part and our district isn't exactly the toilet bowl of 5A football, especially Permian.

This thread reeks of homerism.
In that case, whos the best defensive lineman?
Calvin Howell, San Antonio Warren -Texas commit.

Haha, I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head. I think a more appropriate topic would have been who are some of the top linebackers in the state, not necessarily the best.

Or who has the best three starting LB's
Or in our defensive scheme's case, 4.

That's easy. The Woodlands.

I can back you up on that Howell is a VERY solid argument for best linebacker in the state and im not a homer ;)

It's unfortunate for kids like Chris because it is harder for him to make the Spring/Summer combine and scouting rounds where a lot of college coaches look to for a lot of info and where players get maximum exposer. Chris was supposed to go to the Nike combine at TCU, but he couldn't make it. Going to such events and performing well is how kids like Chris obtained that elusive 5th star.
As for the discussion at hand, Chris certainly belongs in this discussion. He's not the most polished LB, but he may just be the hardest hitting...

Chris belongs in this discussion and IMO, he is very close to the top, but I think the state's top and best LB is Irving Macarthur's Tariq Allen. Size, speed, production, etc.

I saw what Chris Williams of Abilene did to us last year in week zero, and assuming he's only getting better, I don't see how he would not be considered the best in the state this year.

Ok all, lets stop with the position players...who, by all standards is the best 5A defense in the state? I could not say, but for Region IIII, I would have to say that Judson's defense would surely be in the mix, 3 of the 4 D-backs are back this year and the one lost is being filled by a kid that had alot of playing time there as a sphmore, but moved to running back last year to help our injured backs, oh, and they will hurt you! They love to hit and are really quick...Warren's also would be there, but what others do we see in the mix? Come on Region I, II, and III, who would you pick as the "Best Defense's in your Region?"

E Fielo from ET was among the very best LB's I saw in the entire state last year and the best of the underclassmen. The guys is a stud and made big play after big play during Trinity's weak playoff run last season.

I agree with you. Undersized, but what a playmaker, without him Burkhead burns us for 300+
