What is the tie breaker formula for ties in district. 2 way is pretty easy... head to head, but what about 3 way or 4 way ties for a spot. is it up to the district to decide the fomula?

I think it goes on points. For Example:
Churchill beat Judson by 14
If Reagan beats Churchill and Judson beats Reagan, there will be a 3 way tie for 3rd. If Reagan beats Churchill, in order for Judson to make the playoffs we will need to win by 15 or more against Reagan.

i think i agree but let's say team 1,2 and 3 tie
team one beats both, team 2 (by 3 pts) and team 3 (by 1 point) so they are plus 4
team 2 loses to team 1 (-3) and beats team 3 by 30 so they are plus 27
team 3 loses to both by 1 and 30 minus 31
so on points team 2 (plus 27) would go even though team 1 (plus 4) beat both?

First of all --each district commitee agrees on tie breaker rules --BEFORE SEASON STARTS --however the most common rules :
1. Head to Head ( easy )
2. Net points ( with max 25 pts counted to eliminate running up scores.)
3. In case of 3 way as detailed above --team 1 goes since they beat both 2 & 3 head-head--that leaves team 2 & 3 --since team 1 already qualified --then 2 qualifies since they beat 3 head-head
4. Coin flip ( doesnt happen much anymore ) --do the math : doesnt matter for DIV I ( largest school among qualifiers) --just need to decide seeding for 2 DIV II teams ( if there are only 2 tied for DIV II then it is easy : head-head between those 2 )---most districts have 8 teams with 7 district wins chances are good that any team with 3 loses wont make playoffs --happened to Woodlands about 6 years ago & they had to depend on Tomball getting beat by certain # of pts ( I dont remember exactly pts or who they played --- Klein I think ) anyway Tomball did get beat by the required pts & Woodlands made playoffs. Since then all playoff teams in Woodlands district have had only 2 loses max.
Complicated ---but it works out . Keep in mind though it could be different in your district

I could be wrong but this is how I interpret 17-5a as of right now.
The only thing I know for sure is if Cy Fair wins tonight, they are guaranteed a playoff spot...if Creek loses, Fair should be the outright district champs by virtue of defeating Creek and Falls (currently in 3rd)
If Creek wins and Cy Fair loses, Fair is still in the drivers seat because they beat Creek and I believe they still have one game to play so the title could be a tie again like last years tri-champions.
If Falls beats Tomball and Magnolia they are in. If Tomball beats Falls, it's possible they would be in but I think it may depend on what Springs does since they beat them. Someone correct me if I am wrong because I'm writing this without looking at any statistics or standings...just from memory.
LC, Springs and JV are still remote possibilites but they have to count on other teams losing. The three above only have to win their games and take care of business....this IS a crazy district.

LC and JV are the only teams with a possible fighting chance. JV has to beat Cy-Fair and Langham to get in over Tomball. Since they beat Falls last night they took their playoff spot. Springs has no chance at all of getting in even if they did beat Tomball.

You only do points after head to head does not work.
