Tons of schools that are 8-0 and lots of discussion about them, not a lot about Hays and with Westlake coming up in 2 weeks, I think we have a good shot at claiming the 16-5A title and making a deep run in the playoffs. Amadeus transfered from SA Madison this season and is an amazing athlete, you can view his highlight clips at the link below. He has had a streaky season so far but already has 21 TD's. According to rivals he's a 2* recruit with high interest in Oklahoma St.
What is everyone elses opinion on Hays around the state? I know we're sort of covered up with Leander, Lake Travis (4A), Pflugerville and Westlake all in the surrounding area.
Thanks a lot guys.

Hays would really prove alot of people wrong with a strong showing against Westlake. Because if Westlake goes in there and has their way with you guys then we will all come to the conclusion that Hays was a victim of a weak schedule and will be sent home in the 1st round. A win against Westlake would and should have some teams worried. The Hays rb is a beast though.

All I can say is that Hays always fields a tough team and this year appears to be no different! Go out and put a thrashing on Westlake, and everyone will take note of the Rebels!
I'll take Hays 35-28 over Westlake! GET ER' DONE!!!

Westlake is banged up and the game will be played at Hays. That will be a big advantage for the Rebels. Several of Westlake's big-time Srs. were sophs. on the team that lost their District winning streak at Shelton stadium in '03. That will either be a rallying point for them or a lingering doubt in the back of their mind. Either way it will be a great game.
Hays should be careful, though. They play Bowie tonight and the Bulldogs have been playing very well of late and would like nothing better than to take advantage of a Hays team looking ahead to their matchup with Westlake.

I bet he kept thinking as a baby, "Why does everybody want me to rock them? I want somebody to rock me!" :D
Amadeus was born somewhere around 1986-1987. Falco, who was from Austria (as was Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart), released "Rock Me Amadeus" in 1986!

Hays probably beats the 2nd best D2 team from 15. I don't think they beat the #1 D2 team from 14. A few of you guys might've heard of them.
2 and done in by Lufkin. I'd like to see the upset, though! :D

The kid is amazing....he is the real deal holyfield....and thats the only way I can put it....You guys should check out his highlights...he is 215 lbs but moves like a cat and yet runs over people just as easily....he's got to be one of the best in the state...no doubt about it....sad to say he would never have been able to get the carries he is getting now if he had stayed at Madison....Hays is a team I don't think any team wants to play right now....Westlake will obviously show how good they are....to see the highlights go to:

I'm not trying to rain on his parade, but i know why he wouldnt have gotten the carries at Madison and its not because of his skills as a running back. On his website it shows all of his physical attributes and they are amazing. However, its sad to have an athlete like that with a GPA like that. He REALLY needs to work on that if he wants to make it to a division 1 school, which he very easily could do on skills alone. And Lonny, depending on who makes the playoffs in our district, the first and second place team in division 2 for 15-5a could be Leander or Pflugerville. I don't see them getting past either.

I agree on his GPA. From what I know he is taking 9 classes this semester in order to get GPA up. I think he will have it up to a 2.8-2.9 by the end of the fall. His report card shows that he is kicking butt taking all those classes and doing great on the field. At Madison they love Tony Green there and Stretty has always loved "scatbacks" like him. Hmmm...let me see.....165 lb. scatback or 218 lb D-1 running back (AND he is faster than Tgreen)????? I know who I would have gone with!! As for not getting by Leander and Pflugerville, I disagree. Leander and Pflugerville's defenses are not that good. Offensively Hays can play with anybody. They throw the ball just as good as they run it. They all have a common opponent in Cedar Park and they all defeated CP in about the same fashion. I don't think we will see a matchup b/c I think the 3rd spot is going to go to the RR/Stony Point winner but I would have loved to seen a mathchup with either Pflvlle or Leander....Hays will show how good they are when they play Westlake this week.

I've got you covered. :D Pflugerville goes D1 and Leander goes D2. Westlake goes D1 and Hays goes D2. That means Hays plays your 3rd place team and thus they win in Round 1!!!!  I'm giving myself 2 cools!
His grades are good this year, but that SAT score is low.

STEROIDS!!???? He is clean bro....take my word for it! I know for a fact the only thing going into his body is alot of Mexican food (family is hispanic) :) !! All his buddy's at Hays asked him what he was taking when he came in from SA Madison, and he told me it was insulting because he works his butt off in the gym. The kid is as good as they come.....he just has to get them grades and SAT up!!!

Yes, we do have a lot more injuries than normal--we're actually playing our back up quarterback and a converted defensive back at running back. Our injuries in that position go into our third string.
I have some very unpleasant memories of the Hays' fans' behavior after the game where they broke our district winning streak, and I would love for the Chaps to beat them. However, it's far more important for them to beat Pflugerville in the first round of the playoffs than win over Hays. Yes, it's the district title, but I'd rather go deep in the playoffs than win district. To that end, I would rather not get anyone hurt in the game than win it, but I do expect our team to play hard and try hard to win. We just may not have some of our best players in the game--either because they're not physically able to play yet or because the coaches don't want to risk having them reinjured before the playoffs.

Well....it should be a good game....don't know what either teams plan goes as far as leaving their starters in....both teams have a playoff spot wrapped up but I know Hays fans want this one real bad. This will probably be the last time a Hays/Westlake matchup occurs since Hays is going back to 4A. I am a converted Hays fan so I don't have that burning desire to beat the crap out of Westlake like other Hays fans but I do hope Hays wins district, especially since most publications (including this one) picked them to finish behind Westlake and Bastrop!!!

I think that it is a great matchup between Hays and Westlake. It should be a good game. I believe that Hays has more at stake at this than Westlake because a win or loss will determine whether they face Leander or the winner of RR or Stony Point in the first round. Westlake will face Pflugerville, either way. However, just wanting it more, doesn't make it happen. Every team that plays Westlake goes into the game with visions of knocking off Westlake. It doesn't happen very often in the regular season.
It was probably not so out of line for "publications" to pick either Hays or Bastrop to be second place in district. I believe that the game that went into tripple OT ending in a 3 point Hays victory. Not a good reason for hostility against a neighbor. What annoys me is having to listen to the Westlake school song twice at the beginning of each Hays Westlake game!
Don't expect Westlake defense to give up passing yards like they did in the 59 to 30 win over Crockett. The pressure is on Amadeus Waters to pull off the upset victory. While Westlake may be wounded, Westlake has the reserve offensive power and when the dust settles, the usual suspect will claiming district title.

Win or loss I am 99% sure Hays will get the Stony Point/RR winner. Westlake will go D-1 no matter what (biggest enrollment) and Bastrop will be D-2 but the third representative. The 2nd rep in D-2 gets the # 3 rep from 15-5A. If they lose they are still D-2 # 2 and Bastop is still D-2 # 3. That being said this is a totally different Hays squad than what Westlake has faced before. Waters is a back that Hays has never experienced before. Waters to me is a more complete back than Antwan Cobb (fumbles way too much for 145 carries...Waters has 0 fumbles on the year) but he is not the only weapon. They have very good wr's and a very "unorthodox" but a very, very effective quarterback. I think the inexperience of Westlake will cost them. I say Hays 45 Westlake 30.....Either way....should be an awesome game!!!!!

The "inexperience of Westlake will cost them"? Is that inexperience in playing 4A teams in non-district or what?

Will from what I've seen they don't have a lot of seniors in the skill positions. Hays is loaded with seniors...I could be wrong but I think in big games being there before really counts....like I said either way....this game should be the biggest game in the state this week!

Um. . . we play anticipated 5A playoff bound teams in our non-district games in order to give those players the experience they will need to succeed in the playoffs. With your non-district schedule and limited recent success in the playoffs, I suspect our juniors in skill positions (I guess you're talking about Nick Foles, our quarterback, because we have plenty of seniors in every other position--and I think Nick is much better than our starting senior quarterbacks for the past two years. Maybe in the Leander game, that lack of starting experience in big games affected his game, but since then he's been gangbusters!) have more experience playing high caliber 5A playoff teams than your seniors. And that doesn't necessarily mean that we will win. I think the key will be whether our defense can stop your offense. We'll all find out Friday night at your house!
