We talk about Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, 4 leaf clovers and stuff like that, but I have a couple rare ones for you guys.
I ate lunch with a former Paschal RB last week and I didn't know they had any fans out there.
The real twilight zone moment was I had a good conversation with a guy who graduated from LAREDO UNITED! :D I didn't know Laredo fans were out there. Maybe Bigfoot does exist after all. ;)

I am on a business trip in Harlingen and watched a Harlingen football game on a local station. The fans were going crazy. Harlingen looked like a 1a or 2a team and I was surprised to see the fan support they had.

I sat behind him at the Judson-Pflugerville game last year. Thanks, I think he's a good guy, too.

Did he have false teeth? :D
Yes as a matter of fact he did...and every time I brought up the topic of scrimmages...he would get so excited they would fall out.

I bet he had "Vote for Dick" and "I like Ike" bumper stickers and played with everybody on the 1937 team. He probably gave all his great grandkids one of the priceless "Scrimmage t-shirts"! :D

Oh we are just wrong for this...wrong...wrong...wrong...
He told me stories about growing up in the depression and how that state title was the crowning jewel of his long life. That and the 2 scrimmage victories of course. He teared up when I mentioned Lufkin....I offered him a hanky to wipe his eyes...and wouldn't you know it......................he fumbled it.

It wasn't his fault he fumbled it. The wind blew it out of his hand!

Just choked on my drink reading this one. Dang.... :D
The playoffs are going to be fun, especially if Lufkin and Longview clash.
Lobo fans might adopt a version of EagleIke's slogan "Gimme Judson just one mo' time!!!" substituting Judson for Lufkin of course.

He also told me about his plan for this year.
He got him a new hearing aid up in Southlake...

a huge chuckle...
Those Lp folks won't know what hit 'em ...he said.
But we'll know what play is comin'..hahahaha
His teeth fell out again when he said Lp.

Did he tell you how he paid the refs to say Chandler caught the ball for a TD? He told me that one cost him $500.

Yes, I think I bumped into this man also. I noticed a lonely old man, dressed in green, wonder into the Diner I was at. He looked like he had led a hard life, and had a story to tell, so I invited him over. He mumbled something about being depressed because his favorite HS football team was unable to get "over the hurdle". I didn't get what he was saying, but when our purple clad waitress wondered over, he became noticably irritable and asked for the waitress dressed in yellow. He then mumbled more.....something about not being able to understand how a team that pulled it's starters at the beginning of the 2nd quarter in every game couldn't bring home the trophy. I told him to relax, and got the waitress to bring him an apple. Well, the old geyser found a worm in it, and angrily fired it towards the waitress. A young man who I found out later claimed to be a former HS CB named Ashford Ayers intercepted the apple, and gave it to the waitress. The old man stormed out of the Diner, and as I watched him fumble with his keys and drive off, I just waved. I noticed a peculiar bumper sticker on his vehicle that said "1937.....the best year of my life!". Never did figure out who he was, but it sounds like the same guy.

Naw, no awe, but I did know that I was in the presence of greatness....I respect High School coaches a lot, and one who has accomplished what he has is special...

The apple story reminds me of a story my dad told about my great-grandfather. He loved bananas and always had a BUNCH at the house! ;) He would give each kid one banana when they came for a visit and he ate the rest himself.
