This Friday night Ratliff Stadium in Odessa will sell out (20,000) for a great game that will mean very little to anyone except to the town and the teams that play. Odessa High school, with just a slight mathematical possibility to make the play-offs and Odessa Permian with no chance to make the playoffs.


Playing for pride is what it is all about. If I could this would be the game I would go to this weekend. It is never a dull game. Good luck to both teams!

There is always a lot of talk about the Midland Lee / Permian games selling out in the past and that it true sometimes. (not this year). The crosstown rival game between Odessa High and Odessa Permian always sellout. I've been to many of them.

yes that is why i wish strake wouldve just played katy. i think when the coaches told those kids in the locker room after practice one day they felt a little down that they didnt get to have the game of their lives at crusader stadium in front of all their families and friends. o well but my 2 cents is that id take 7-1 with a respectable loss to katy over 7-0 with a vote not to play.

This is always a FUN game to watch..Its like a small Civil WAR - Bro against Bro!! Relatives and/or friends are spread out out through Odessa just a matter of which side of town you live on as where you go to school.....these boys have grown up playing against each: little league, pop warner, or just whatever. I can believe it a sell-out! This weekend its HOT ticket..... The endzones are usually stacked with the overflow at this game.
