As we all travel and watch the games, I have noticed some nice stadiums and some bad stadiums. I wanted to get input of good stadiums and bad stadiums.

Midland is the best. I like Waco, but it's too small. I like the multi-game stadiums and just hang out all day.

I remember Dennison's stadium had folding chairs next to the stands and endzone and their student section was on the visitor side.

Shotwell Stadium in Abilene has been around for at least 40 years. Since then, Ratliff Stadium and Grande have been built in Odessa and Midland, respectivley. Over the last 3 years drastic improvements have gone into the stadium to make it more marketable and great place to play. They still have a few more things to do to, namely the conncession area, but the playing surface and the stands make it one of the better older stadiums in Texas. :D

The stands are a "box" that is elevated 25 feet in the air above the drainage canal. There is a track around the field so the seats are set way back to accomodate the track and the ditch. The visitor's side also faces directly into the evening sun. No fun for the visitors.

People always ask me are you going to the Keller game? I say are we home? They say no. I say no.

Stallworth Stadium in Baytown is a nice stadium considering it was built in 1970, is well lit, and seats 16,000. The new grassy-turf and scoreboard upgrades after this season will put it on par with most of the better HS football only facilities in the state.

Round Rock ISD stadium is a nice facility. It is only a couple of years old. Astro play field, no track, nice stands. It is a lot like Waco but I think seats more people.

Copperas Cove has a nice facility. Jumbotron, Beautiful press box, concession stands and bathrooms. Astro Play and the only thing wrong is the cheap stands we have.

I like the SV stadium mainly because of its isolation and atmosphere on game nights.

Round Rock ISD is my personal favorite in the CenTex region. i'd just as soon go there as have a home game. i suppose the good feeling having something to do with my Panthers being undefeated over there.

I really liked Denton Ryan's new stadium...relatively new, anyway. It was big, well organized, well kept, and up to date, plus an awesome IR scoreboard. Only issue was that, if you sat under the lights like the band did, you get SWAMPED with crickets. That's what you get for putting a stadium out in the middle of a field, I guess. When we came back from halftime, I kid you not, there were 40 or 50 down my row from where I could see, just in my row. It's kind of late to change that now, but I know the band will groan when we hear we're going back. Beside that one little defect, Great stadium.

Make sure you get there early and buy your ticket in advance. Park and walk is the course. The ticket booth hasn't been upgraded from the 4A days not enough windows but it is a nice view of the hill country.

plus they got that, thing underneath it, like that metal tarp thing and things fall under so easily, it sucks being in the band, you drop something you wont get it back

Yeah, you get good exercise from where you park. I made it easy and jumped the curb last year and got closer than if I stayed on the pavement.

I do not like Keller stadium at all and one i found worse than that is Allen Eagle stadium. It is ridiculous for a 5A school.

I travel extensively throughout the US, visiting many many States. The sad person that I am - I check out the high school football stadiums. Let me tell you, there is nothing to compare with the quantity and quality of high school stadiums in Texas. This is just another reason why Texas High Football is the best.

The Denton Ryan Stadium is sweet. Only complaint is that there is not much room between the out of bounds and the wall. But for a fan, it is awesome. The crickets chased me & my littlw missie. The link is to a snap shot of some of the crickets I killed that night!!! :)

Those were some really good pictures. The nices one I have been to is Wylie ISD. But Ennis has a really nice one as well, along with Waco. I know Abe MArtin is one of the oldest stadiums, but I wish they would change it up some now. I mean, there is not enough seating, and the thing is just old.

The Remodled Dick Bivins stadium in Amarillo is fantastic. Grande stadium in Midland is awesome (I still can't believe that stadium is for high school ball; not college). Ratliff is awesome too (the atmosphere for Permian-Lee games is very hard to match anywhere else). Lowrey Field in Lubbock looks too outdated now compared to these others. A little remodeling wouldn't hurt.
I've notice though that many HS stadiums use FieldTurf instead of grass. It makes more economic sense (especially during the playoffs), but its still too bad. I used to like the grass field at Lowrey. Which 5-A stadiums still have a natural lawn?

One stadium that really stands out to me is Matador Stadium in Seguin. Only stadium I have ever been to where the visitors side is larger than the home side.
