I'm sure people from Garland would enjoy talking about the best players from Garland. Now it's those AMC players no one really cares about.

Karl Williams
The Dockery's
Quincy Morgan
Mike Gandy
I think it sort of starts and ends there. We'll see if someone else achieves something. There are tons of really good players, too many to list, those 5 are at alone at the top to me, if I didn't forget somebody. Karl is an interesting story. He caught only 1 pass at Garland in his career and turned it into a 7 or 8 year NFL career.
Before the last 20 years:
Bobby Boyd
Randy Love
Chuck Dicus
Joe Walter
Ronnie Scoggins
Billy Adams
Herkie Walls

aggy is aggy cus it continues to have snobbish attitudes towards the world. baylor, iowa state and kansas state don't consistantly under-achieve, aggy does!!! baylor, iowa state and k state suck, and at least they acknowledge that!
"little aggy" (a&m consolidated) is decent, but not looked at as a threat.
Look buddy, no one is starting anything with you, but I will bet more people on this website have more insight about Garland football, than they have of little aggy. That says something, especially when you consider this is a Texas Football message board!

Huh..Josh Burris that's interesting...I'd add Phillip Payne and or Derron Montgomery to the current list. What about Jorden Reever? Doesn't he have like all the passing records for the GISD? What about Naaman's QB last year? Jacob Lacey. And Garland's kicker last year? Matt Fodge. I'm just throwing some names out their for ya. Umm there's Raymond Penddelton (Idon't know if I spelled that right) the SG WR last year who's at Wash. St. I think. Blake Kerley the C last year for SG who's at Arizona. And the guy who I thought was better then Burris last year in SG great group of DB's, James Bradley. I hope some of those name ring a bell.

If that's all you've heard of, you don't listen very well.....do you?
Garland High alone has had well over 100 players go D-1 in the last 13 years, and about 5-10 players a year get some kind of schollarship to lesser division schools.
Run me off a list of little aggy players.......or is calling it a list overstating it a bit? :D

With the exception of a few 04', 05' and current players, I wanted to find players that have went on to successful college and/or pro careers, as well...
I'll name just a few examples....
Keith Mitchell - Lakeview LB....Texas A&M/Saints/Texans/Jaquars
Quincy Morgan - South Garland WR....Kansas State/Browns/Cowboys/Steelers
Mike Gandy - Garland DE.....Notre Dame/Steelers/Bears
Derrick Dockery - Lakeview OT....Texas/Redskins

Just wanted to update you on a few of your guys.
Chuck Dicus didn't stop at Arkansas, he played 4 years for the San Diego Chargers.
Bobby Boyd played at OU in the late 50's and played in the NFL from '61-69, playing in the infamous Super Bowl where the Jets upset his Colts.
Randy Love played for the St. Louis Cardinals, I'm not sure if he retired before they went to Arizona or not.
Billy Adams, the QB for the '63-'64 state teams, was in the Colts camp and had the team made until he hurt his hand and it ended his career.
Joe Walter, OL from North Garland, played for many years and on the Bengals and was on the Super Bowl team.
Herkie Walls, graduated Garland in 1980, set records at WR at Texas, played for the Oilers and Bucs, twice, and the WFL and World League, and ended his career with the Orlando Predators of the Arena League and is in the Arena League Hall of Fame.
Fred Harris played for the New York Americans teamin the American Football League in 1941.
Carl Brawley had signed with the New York Giants in the late 50's, but died in a car crash on his way to training camp.
There's a few others, but I'm tired.

I think I heard Watkins retired in 2000, from Rowlett. (I think he only coached there 3 years.)
Hill was a head coach at LC, for like 2 years, then they brought in some Risen guy. He got canned a year or two ago! How is this new coach at LC? This Jordan coach at Garland seems like a winner!

The best football player to ever come out of Garland could very well have been Ricky Pierce, Andre's uncle, had he not decided to play in the NBA for 16 years. As a sophmore tight end and defensive back at Garland he was unbelievable!

Deandre Jackson is a top corner in the Big 12, who I believe has very good potential to go to the next level. Also, don't forget Richmond McGee, who has been the starting punter for UT the last 3 years.
Anyone remember Jerry Sanders. SG class of 78'. I believe he was the first HS Parade All-American out of South. Went on to have a decent career at OU.
Rough - A little cudos for your Stangs'. I believe they already have one D1 player, Brett Thompson, plays for the University of Louisiana, Monroe. A big O-lineman who graduated last year.

I'm wondering why I haven't seen a couple more names from 1999's state championship team. I think one of the most talented guys on that team was the kicker, Chris Sims. He was unbelievable, great distance and accuracy and very clutch. Sims went to A&M, but had to stop playing football due to an injury sustained when he got dogpiled after kicking the game winning field goal in OT against SGP in 99'. Sucks for him, he prolly would have gone to the NFL, in my opinion.

Coach Watkins opened Rowlett's football program in '96 and retired, I beleive, following the 2000 season.
Joe Martin went to Allen after the 2000 season. He is now the assistant director of the Texas HS Coaches association.
Alton Hill was replaced by Flint Riesen, I believe, after the 99 season (not really sure about the dates). Riesen left last year.
Coach Jordan (pronounce JUR-don)is a good one - he has been a part of the GHS program since 1987. When Martin left for Allen, HBJ had a handshake agreement with Joey Florence to come to Garland (Joey already had the keys to the fieldhouse), but Florence changed his mind at the last minute. HBJ also pursued Scott Phillips from PESH. After being shut out, HBJ came to Jordan, who was leaving with Martin. Jordan happily accepted the job.
Great GISD players I remember (incomplete list)

I thought Jordan Reever was going to walkon at LSU? I know they didnt have a scholorship to offer, but they said they could give one down the road if he walked on... I guess he didnt want to.

I'd be willing to bet that Fodge will go pro assuming he stays healthy...He kicked field goals up to 60-65 yards I believe...also, he once made a "field goal" off of a kickoff (I know its not the same cause fo a tee nad no one blocking, but he had a boot).

Reever did go down to LSU but whats the point of him staying since they had 3 QBs ahead of him then got Ryan Perilloux so he went down to sam houston
He should of just taken the offer from syracuse the first time instead of trying to go to LSU

I don't run from you, I just have to work for a living and can't be on here 24-7 like you can. I got to pick up all your nasty trash....remember. :D

His momma told me he hurt his back lifting weights in the fall training his frosh. year at aggy and gave up his scholarship.

I remember Sanders, he was a monster at the HS level. He graduated 2 years after me.

How about Kendall Rhyne F/S at Arizona State? Played 2 years behind Darren Woodson at ASU? Played at North Garland.
Or John Washington from South Garland, played for the Rams in late 70's?
