PLEASE NO STUPID ARGUMENTS (that means strake people too)
elsik plays strake jesuit at crusader stadium in houston friday night. elsik is 2-5 and 1-3 in 19-5A. they beat katy taylor at crump stadium in week 4 of the regular season, as did strake last week at rhodes in a playoff clinching game. but elsik is coming off a 57-30 katy loss at crump last week. they came off a katy loss last year and the crusaders got blown away at crump stadium by texas state signee/ greater houston's best duel threat QB morris crosby on a rainy friday night.
after the elsik game, strake jesuit closes their regular season in 19-5A with a game at rhodes stadium vs cinco ranch, who has had 2 shutouts in their last 2 games over elsik and alief taylor after going 1-4 to begin the season.

This one is hard to call. Elsik is very inconsistent. They do have the speed in their QB and RB to burn the Strake defense. Their passing game is weak so if Strake can contain the run they could come out on top. Elsik's punting game has improved a little bit compared to the opener against North Shore but this is where you can make opportunities to score or shorten the field on Elsik. Stop them on third down, make them punt and lick your chops.
Strake will probably take this one by a TD.

I don't recall how fast the SJ defense is, but man, you've got to keep #21 and #18 (I believe those are the numbers) under control... They are lightning fast and can hurt you in a big way before you know it... Not the best sports on the block so you'll have to watch their holding, pushing and slapping techniques...
The SJ defense has performed well for you in the games I've seen... Pretty much have kept it close until you can pull ahead or take advantage of break...
Bring a crowd, because the visitor's side might be light that night... A little momentum from the Home town fans can't hurt...
Cinco's offense seems to be on a roll... Haven't seen them play, just what I've heard... But we'll know more about them after Friday night...
KTCarl, have you seen Cinco?

Elsik has the worst pass defense I've ever seen. Ever. Bandy will go off on them even without Madsen. If you have trouble stopping Elsik's running attack, all you have to do is be ahead of them with less than 3 minutes to play. No matter how many yards they rush for, they can't pass or kick the ball with any success and you'll win.

Well I've only seen them play against Katy so it's really hard to tell what they have... Couldn't really stop anything the 1's did...
I know they're fast out in the open because they can cut and get loose quick... Special teams (blocked PAT) did mess with us a bit for 2, so they do have something... Opportunistic... Push-off catch for 7, Blocked PAT for 2, Fumble recover for 7... The remaining 13 off of our 2's and 3's...

i can see strake lighting it up in the skies even without madsen too. bandy will hit moses ogbonaya, brother of current Texas RB Chris, TE david tscheope and soph WR davis burk for the major first downs and TDs.

No, I have not seen Cinco this year. Their defense must be coming around because they shut out Elsik. I guess they played first string the whole game.
Either 4ever or KT2K has seen them.

That's a good assesment of Elsik. Note this too, even when they ran the ball they fumbled the pitch from the QB to the RB twice. Mostly, your scoring opportunities will come off Elsik's punting game. Once you get the good field position they can be burned in the air. I think they still have an outside shot at a playoff berth so they might be up for the game.

I have not seen Elsik but assume they are quick. Strake has trouble sometimes around the ends because their LBs attack agressively, getting caught up in the box instead of stringing out the play. This could be disasterous against a speedy team. This will be all about momentum. If Elsik gets it, it could be a runaway, but if Strake takes Elsik's best shot and pops them right back, maybe Elsik self destructs...

If Elsik plays typical Elsik ball, Strake wins by 10+ points. Elsik will have to come out playing this game as if it were against Katy.
Strake 24
Elsik 20

Past observations of both Elsik and Hastings (maybe ATaylor too) is that once you start to turn the corner on them their attitude helps them self destruct... I always start looking for the "extra effort" on their part once things start going south... Pushing, hitting, more aggressive intimidation because of their frustration level...

The jesuits should win this one, but Elsik is a very athletic team and if the jesuits have a problem at all then that would be it. The jesuits by 12.

I just dont see Stake winning this one. Elsik scored 16 points on our 1st and K-Taylor lead Strake most all the game last week. K-Taylor gave us a great 1st half in our game. Elsik by 5.

Elsik's O is a big concern if you have a slow defense.........That #21 was so dang fast, if he gets in the open there is now stopping him....He plays both way on the feild....Amazing

elsiks kicking game was bad as predicted looks like they missed an extra point as was their passing with 3 interceptions from strakes stephen tyree (2) and scott coffman (1).
katy killed cinco tonite. next week should decide whether 19-5A is gonna have 2 champs or not when cinco tries to avenge last years upset with a fri nite game at rhodes

Well, I was wrong, wish I could have seen the game. Looks like it will be D2 for Katy with Hastings winning tonight.

I told ya their kicking game was bad. I predicted that some of your scores would be because of Elsiks kicking teams. Did that happen last night?

according to the chronicle it said an elsik kick failed after their rushing TD early in the 2nd quarter.
o and looks like strake jesuit is ranked 10 in the region III rankings.

Did Elsik's Trevor Cavness play? I have not seen his name in a few weeks and was wondering if he is hurt or got in trouble. From the first week when we played them, I was impressed by Cavness. He got knocked out of the game but was very impressive while in there.

He played against Katy and looked pretty good. I'm guessing that he didn't play against Strake or his name would have been on the stat sheet.

He played (#21, right?). Strake kicked away from him (I guess this is teaching our kids a bad lesson too lol) and contained him pretty good on defense. However, he did have some big plays. He cramped up a bit in the 2nd half and by the 4th quarter Strake was far enough ahead that Elsik mostly passed.

I'll have to say "Good Job" SJ on another well earned victory...
