These are not knock your socks off numbers but well rounded for the three. We had no receivers listed in the paper.
Just some info to see what the top three have done so far.

the Statesman is wrong as usual....
before the Shoemaker game
Buckram 91 carries 692 yrds 7.6 avg 10 TDS
not sure if carries, but Donald had 174 yrd and 4 TD's against Shoe
so he now has 866 yrds and 14 TD's + one TD pass
Mislap was at 471 an Garner at 541 w/ 9 TD's
(this info taken for Game program)
but, your point is correct, Cove has a very balanced attack with 6
different players having multipule TD's and two others scoring at least
once.....not counting the kicking game
AMC's big question will be which one of these 8 kids do they key on?
I'll bet their QB club meeting was interesting this week
We all know Welch's speach Our opponent __________ will be playing in
the Super Bowl next week and we gonna have a heck of time stopping them

I hate the statesman. They picked Cove as one of the top 10 teams in the Austin area yet they get no love in the paper down here. The game of the week this week is Leander and Pflugerville.
Bunch of damn crack heads writing the sports columns on high school football there.
I think KDH has a little more love for Cove then the statesman has. Hell, i bet the Waco paper gives mor info on Cove then they do as well.
Bunch of damn crack heads.................

y'all are three counties away. Cove doesnt rate very high on our radar down here. it is the Austin American-Statesman, afterall. Bryan's about as close and they dont get any coverage at all.
and, i dont expect much coverage in the Temple Daily Telegram or the Killeen Daily Herald for my Panthers aside from when we play those teams.

Well Leander considers themselves the "best team in Central Texas" and by the way I can get to Austin from Cove in 40 min. Bryan is like 2 hours.Cove is the best team in Central Texas. i would consider Austin the hill country

If the brakets on this site hold true then Cove will meet Leander in the second round and this "Best in CENTEX" can be decided on the field!! Assuming Leander beats Pville on Friday :D

Actually the passing game is there when it has been needed but for the most part they have been able to run and score quickly so they have not had to pass much.
The numbers are not impressive but well divided out among those that get the ball. It is a balanced team with no one person doing all the work.
The reason i busted on the statesman is because at the beginning of the season they picked Cove as the number 10 team in the Austin area yet they do not provide much information regarding them every week. Don't pick em in their top 10 if your not going to cover them, plain and simple.

Picking Cove 10 in the Austin area shows how much the Statesman knows about high school football. I could be wrong but I don't think they could name 9 schools in the Austin area that are better than Cove at this point. :D

No actually picking cove at number 10 shows how much the statesmen gives a crap about cove football. None of their papers go to Copperas Cove, ZERO. Do you need a poll three counties away to tell you that you are the "#1" team in central texas. I'll tell Rick Cantu to make yall number one from here on out so yall can be labeled paper champions, if thats what you want. The statesman is what it is. It covers Centex high school football, but when none of their papers go to copperas cove, why in gods name would they make a write up on that. Theirs no interest in cove down here until one of either 15-5a or 16-5a gets to round two. You gotta think beyond a certain point about that. Nobodys gonna want to read about copperas cove in the preseason if they live in Taylor. But Leander is in the Austin area. Its not called the central texas american statesman for a reason.
The game of the week this week is Leander and Pflugerville.
See above. And i think this or the Woodz and Lufkin should be game of the week. Yalls game really shouldnt be that good of a game if yall take care of buisness like yall have been. On the other hand us and Pflugerville are actually about evenly matched.

Just to clarify I get the Austin paper deliverd to my door every Sunday. More informative than KDH. So if they deliver it up here and they speak about a team up here then they should discuss them throughout the year not just at the start. Not that its a big deal, I really could care less... but since you brought it back up.

Your friggin crazy. They deliver quite a few statesman papers to the Cove and Killeen area. There are also a bunch of us that live in the Austin area that are from Cove.
Obviously you have no clue about the statesmans circulation.
I could really care less about it but if your going to list a team in your paper as one of the top 10 they are going to follow for the season then at least do what they said they were going to do and follow the team.
Why on earth did they pick to follow Cove as their #10 team? Can you figure that one out?
Little Roar must have got his feeling hurt, all i was talking about was the listing and coverage that they were going to do at the start of the season and it has dropped to 0. You should want to read about a potential opponent taht you might face in the playoffs and know a little more about them. Oh i forgot, if they did cover the DAWGS, you would still be lost since there would not be any pictures for you to look at.

Haha, my fault. I didnt think the statesman paper would be delivered all the way out there. I was trying to make a point but if the statesman is delievered all the way out there then that proves against my point......
LOL MY BAD ;) .

No biggie, hell i like to poke fun at you Leander people. After all, you guys made me eat a bunch of crow a few years back and i have not forgotten how that was.
I work in Leander quite a bit and the year the football team turned around i knew that they were on the road to greatness. Now the year you beat us in the playoffs hacked me though. I thought after the good coach left Leander would go back to the old ways but they are hanging tough.
Some revenge this year in the playoffs might just be a good thing, LOL.
The statesman still pisses me off on their coverage and i work for a company that is the owner of that paper.
