IDK we have a great JV/Freshman Team(s) and we play 3 tough teams in nondistrict.
Hopefully it will help prep us better for the playoffs than this year.

Last night I went to the Judson basketball game against Clemens.
The Rowdies were there...well 3 of us were the others had regional band...
well we were as loud as we could be.
Well the Rockets won last night by 30-something against the Buffs.
8-0 right now and the South Padre Tournament is coming up this next few days.

yes, i do like the scoreboard, and sound system is awesome, the seats are red and have arm rests(reserved only) they are comfortable, press box is a 3 tier and looks good but the outside still needs some work...ITS STILL NOT FINISHED!!!:rolleyes:

Well, here is one thing that IS finally finished: The narrative for the Rockets' 2007 season

I PM'd JROCK210 about getting some of his pictures onto the page now that the main verbiage is finally finished

There were so many different aspects to 2007 that I felt couldn't be left out (and I probably still missed some), hence it took a little longer writing ab9ut thisd one. It really did give me sensory overload having to re-live it all by writing about it:

Scrapping the Spread Offense experiment(?) and going back to the Power I

A pretty spectacular thunder and lightning storm that stops the first game of the season in Leander for more than two (2) hours before the ball can be snapped for the first time after we get stuffed on a fake reverse on the opening kickoff

The game itself, which had its share of drama----especially near the end when it looked like we were maybe toast

The debacle in Kerrville

We beat Madison right after they lose Devin Thomas

Wagner immediately following Madison

Judson slips into the playoffs because Wagner loses two (2) more games

The SV game and the First Reagan Game, which would be the last game before the Stadium goes bye-bye for awhile

emails from Iraq leading up to the Bowie Bidistrict game

Southwest gets the 10-0 lead before the injured Quinney goes back in and the soon-to-be injured Salinas goes out, followed by a startling defensive performance by Judson in the 3rd Quarter

The Second Reagan Game

As you can tell reading some of the other stuff I've put at the site, I take the "Rocket" part of Judson seriously, so be warned the 2007 writeup has probably got to be the "spaciest" narrative done thus far, but for me at least it was the only way I could find to work through some of the odd "ups and downs." Also, as for the Outkast track I referred to, here it is on youtube. Remember, you have to listen to it a few times all the way through to really appreciate it: It ain't so bad.....it ain't so bad...it ain't so bad....

Trojanbacker, I know you're more interested at this point in ET making some NEW history, but this 2007 story is about ET as well. ET's and Judson's fates were intertwined for the thrid time, and I hope I did your accomplishment justice albeit writing from a Rocket-centric perspective. The writeup for the Final is fairly extensive, so you may want to re-live 12/22/2007 as well. Good luck with Allen!

I did. And I'm heading out as soon as I get finished typing this to go see if those venerable pumas from Dezavala Road can give the Chaps a terminal case of 'cat scratch fever.' Next to Madison, Clark has always kind of been one of my favorite teams, and of course it would have been nice to see the Rockets in another millenial edition of "Coogs in Space" today.

The Diamond J is the official logo of Judson. The helmets are different however. Not so much of a diamond shape...

Hoping to be able to include it in some small way as part of my "History of Judson Football" writeup for 2008...those venerable pumas from DeZavala, given that I like to include a little blurb at least on what other SA-area teams do (did double duty for the 1995 writeup when TR and the Rockets both made it). I was hoping Judson had survived in the playoffs long enough for another millenial installment of what I call the "Coogs in Space" series that dates back to 1983 but has been renewed only once (in 2002) since 1991.

Just another talented kid that up and left Judson, its sad but we lose so many talented athletes my best example to date is Quintin Demps...Left after our Jr football season went over to the Velt to letter in track and turned in a fantastic Sen campaign was an all city selection as a DB, WR, and P. Went on to be a 4 yr starter at UTEP and got drafted by the Eagles in the 4th rd this yr...dunno if y'all have seen a game but he returns kicks and backs up Dawkins...he returned a KO two weeks ago...I think a 100 yarder but not too sure...its sweet to see an ex teammate playing in the pros...whats even funnier is that he was my RB in Junior High at Woodlake Hills...LOL

The Varsity team won the South Padre Tournament this weekend and Thursday they start a 3 day New Braunfels Classic Tournament.
The Rockets are still undefeated and Saturday they have a great game in Pflugerville.
It's going to be an awesome season!

Clemens is supposed to have a good team.
When they faced Judson they they were undefeated also.
Judson is ranked @2 in the city (IDK if that's changed yet) but they continue to improve.

They play in NB again today for the last game but we are going to the girls game at Judson tonight at 7 so be there!

IDK if it was like the McCoulumn game where they dominated the whole game and than the Cowboys snuck back in or what but a win is a win.

After the game went to Bush's and ate and when they closed chilled in the parking lot.
We were bored so we pulled out a football and threw it around.
This turned into a game in front of a chicken place but they closed and turned out the lights so we went to the TexStar Bank next door and played ofr like an hour and a half. We had to leave though cuz my Dad kept calling me.
It was so awesome!

If anyone saw a random group of kids by Judson playing football in front of either a bank or a chicken restaurant...you saw the Rowdies!

BTW Judson vs Pflugerville are 2 Top 10 ranked teams in the state battling for Region 4 pretty much.

Last Night the Judson Boys Basketball team improved their record to 19-1 as they beat the South San Bobcats by 20 for their 1st district game.
The Rockets take on Wagner January 2nd at Wagner and we might be going to the game so look out for us if you are going.

Wagner is probably the Rockets biggest district test this season.

Well I was at the Wagner vs Judson game at Wagner and the Rockets dominated this game for 90% of the game.
They held Wagner to only 5 points in the 1st quarter and in the 4th they started picking it up and scoring on all cylinders.
Chris Whacker and Ned Cox were getting alot of good rebounds (Ned kept getting his own offensive rebound) and they were nailing shots left and right.

Late in the 4th Q the Judson side was pretty loud.

BTW if you went to the game fat 40 year old women should not dance to music on the court before the game.

Will have to wait to hold judgement on that statement. Rockets played a very good state semifinal game losing in overtime to a TJ Ford led team, I believe from SL Willowridge. The 93 team was state runner-ups against an outstanding FW Dunbar team. The 93 team beat a very talented Killeen Ellison team who was coached by Billy Gillespie, who went on to coach at A&M and now at Kentucky. The 93 team played a lot tougher competition in non district, tournaments and district compared to this 09 team.

Agree with the seating, but one thing about basketball, you have 32 minutes+ of constant action, not 15-18 minutes total action as in football.

I didn't go because we all went to the Boys soccer game at Judson, while the basketball game was in CC. We won the soccer game 4-1 which was really awesome.

Pflugerville for example and SA Stevens, O Connor, and you can't leave out Madison (ranked in the Top 10 in the nation) but I'm sure Judson can handle it.

Well on that note the Judson Rocket basketball team pretty much taught the East Central Hornets what the definition of defense was today as the Rockets dominated this game and came out with a 28 point win.
Stuart Larson stepped up the defensive game as he had countless blacked shots in the game tonight. The Rockets (still undefeated in district) continues to surge through district without any major worries until the postseason. If the team keeps this up we could very well end the season with just one 3 point loss and a ton of wins.

This Rocket team is great and plays with alot of passion.

I don't see Judson getting another loss this season.
And if Memorial is 3rd I'm sure Judson won't have much of a difficult time seeing that the closest game (other than the loss) was a 3 point win in nondistrict.

I think Judson will lose again, I just don't know when. I think they could lose to Wagner the next time they play. Also Judson will have to play their best when it comes to playoffs. Well today:
Judson beat the 3rd ranked (district play) Victoria Memorial Vipers by 49 tonight. It would have been 52 but a 3 pointer with 4 seconds left somehow found its way in. All the players had awesome games and the Rockets will head down to Corpus for a game against the Carroll Tigers (Go Rockets ;)) and fight to stay undefeated in District 27!

54 to 48 Madison won the game. Judson has to be worried not only about Madison but Stevens, Clark, Wagner, and Pflugerville as well. All these teams are state ranked and can beat each other at any time.

As of the 18th of January Judson is still ranked 8th in state.

I am worried about Madison but if it's a home game than it could very well be a very competitive game (when I say home I mean closer to Judson)
Clark and Stevens have really good teams.
IDK how Wagner is state ranked but if they really are I'm not too scared because Judson played with alot of mistakes when they beat Wagner on the 2nd (I believe thats the day)
Pflugerville is pretty much going along with Madison. I know that game would have played out much differently if we were at home.

Our district doesn't really help us out too much this season like I expected (hmm sounds very familiar)

I believe we can go very far pending no major upsets happen.

They are not for varsity games, but NEISD held varsity games there to give their teams a home court advantage when Judson and at one time EC were the visiting team. Alamo Gym is the best place to play high school basketball in SA. They are not for varsity games, but NEISD held varsity games there to give their teams a home court advantage when Judson and at one time EC were the visiting team. Alamo Gym is the best place to play high school basketball in SA. Well during a cold cold night last night Judson had a soccer game at the Gray.
It was freezing temperatures.....
Judson started the game down 1-0 after 3 minutes because of a questionable PK which ed to a Bobcats goal.
About 10 more minutes go by and the Rockets score their first goal tying the game. With about 1 minute left in the 1st half Nash gets hurt after making a great save so they bring in the back up for the end of the 1st half and the Bobcats score quickly.

We come back out in the 2nd half and the Rockets score 2 great goals to win it's season opener. Nash is ok and the Rockets won their 1st district game.

Lots of discipline, great ballhandling and unselfish play. Good defense. Wagner hit some 3 pointers in the closing moments to keep it close. Wagner loss the game at the free throw line. Judson made 21 of 24 FT's while Wagner must have missed at least a dozen free shots, if not more. Rockets hsould finish undefeated in district play. Hopefully, all the players will get and remain healthy by playoff time.

They rolled to an easy win and continued their streak of domination in district play.

Well last night Judson killed Carroll in both boys Basketball and Soccer.

The basketball team capped off a one loss season and an undefeated record in district. This is the Rockets basketball teams' best record ever.
They boys soccer team beat Carroll's in Corpus 3-1.
The soccer team has turned it around since last season.

On the other hand I look at Madison and they have played some really good teams in the state. It would be nice to see Judson go to state, but right now it comes down to Madison and PV.

yeah i had said that in the basketball thread in The Yard, i agree Madison has played Duncanville, Carter which is their only loss..they play the good teams and they have comp....Judson IDK i still think we are in a weak district u need comp to prove yourself, so that point being made we will see what they can do

My Dad said that there were plenty of comments on how loud and into the game both sides were.

It was an intense game and when Ned went down I honestly got worried. But the Rockets' held in and it didn't make much of a difference.

Ned had another outstanding game and he was out for most of the 3rd.

We beat Wagner after they beat us. 2nd try (in 2 yrs)!
And this game is alot different than the first game against Pville.
Neutral site, an actually Judson crowd will be there, that was beginning of the season and the Rockets have been learning from their loss.

It's gonna be fun.
