Any one know about Shawn Onyechi ? How is he at Runnng Back? He is built like a freaking Body Builder. He attended the Houston National Underclassmen combine and was Combine King. Who else at Deer Park are players?

So I am totally confused by the replies. I know I am not like "All World" yet but help a brotha out...Are we not supposed to ask about other teams players?

A poster replied with something guaranteed to get anyone on here banned. So, it was deleted the poster banned. It's not something that warrants further discussion.

Shawn Onyechi - I don't think he'll be faster than his brother. I think Shawn is a 4.6 kid and his bro was a legit 4.3/4.4. However, Shawn is a beast (even at his size) in the weight room. He benches 325-330 lbs and has a 38.5 40" vertical (so DP says) at about 175-180 lbs. Anyhow, he'll run over everything in sight... or at least think he can! (Primadonna sorta comes to mind!) We already know Deer Park will be pretty tough, led by QB-Hans Cook (6-1 200), RB-Travis Carter (5-9 180), WR-Natreon Moose (6-2 170), WR-Cody Doyle (6-1 210), DT-Ronny Victor (5-10 250), DT-Colton Dixon (4.9 40-yd), DB-The Fetgater bro's (Travis/Tyler-both about 5-10 170), WR/KR-Gonzales (5-9 160), C-James Burden (6-0 250), TE-Jared Brown, OT-Albert Enriquez and DE/LB-Monty Garmon. QB-Cook completed 61% of his 115 passes for 1350 yds and 18 tds w/ only 4 Ints. RB-Carter averaged 6 ypc for 1400 yds and 15 tds. RB-Onyechi rushed for 300 yds on 45 carries for 2 tds. (Also 6 ypc.)
1st Team All-District (2007)
RB-Carter
DB/AP-Travis Fetgater
DT-Victor
2nd Team All-District (2007)
WR-Moose
C-Burden
And the Park will some decent linemen (in size) next year. Things look potentially very good for Deer Park in 2008. They'll be a team to watch in Region III!

Thanks for the information. My son got the RB MVP at the same camp and said Shawn was a beast. Apparantly Shawn has set some of the Weightlifting records at Deer Park. I can virtually guarantee you based on personal experience that putting on all that Muscle will catch up to you speed wise. For instance my son put on about 10 to 15 lbs of muscle after Football and it made an impact on his speed.

I hear you. I'd like to think I've put on some muscle, in my time, while increasing my athleticism and speed. It's not about just putting on muscle, it's about gaining, power, speed, agility and overall football athleticism/technique. I'd rather you put on mass, while staying loose and flexable, than have someone just add muscle and think their athleticism will also increase. Shawn runs a 4.65 40-yd and benches 325 lbs. He has good/typical athleticism for his size and age. My question for Shawn is.. is he really improving his overall football athleticism or just trying to pack on muscle by powerlifting? (rhetorical)
Anyhow, goodluck to your son!

How big is he?
I believe he's right about 5-8/5-9 170-180 lbs. Here he is as a Freshman, benching 305 a few times...

The kid is strong, for his size. He and Carter couldl be a pretty damn good duo, in 2008!

I have nothing good to say about him. Problems off the field and we'll just leave it at that. He's a hoss on the field.

His brother didn't run a 4.3 40.... Not even close. Maybe you saw him play against La Porte? There was a 35mph tail wind on all his long runs that game.
Both these boys have a physical advantage over the competition.

I don't have proof saying Jofer didn't. I read online that he was a 4.36 kid. Now, legitimately, we know that truely means he's probably a latter 4.45+. But, I did say he was a legit 4.3/4.4. Take that for what you want.
That La Porte game, you speak of....

Im sorry, but his brother is a legit 4.3....The kid can absolutely fly. When Humble has problems keeping up with your Receiver, you know the kid is fast. We managed to contain him, and beat him up pretty bad during the game...(referring to older brother)

Receiver? Are you thinking of Bola? He's not related to Shawn. Jofer does not run a 4.3. He made that myspace video himself and made up the stats. He runs a 4.5 at best. Not trying to knock the kid cuz every time I've talked to him he seemed like a decent person but he just doesn't run a 4.3. Don't you think a 6'1 205 pound back that runs a 4.3 would be playing somewhere better than North Dakota? Grades were not an issue and I know that any D1 school would jump at the chance to have an athlete like that on their sidelines. I saw him get caught from behind so many times that it cracks me up when people say he was anything but a power back.
