This game will most likely decide your 26 5A distirct champions.
I personally think SV will win, somehow they always seem to start rolling toward the end of the season. Though I don't think it will be a blowout like last year, I do think Sv will pull it off.

SV will win this one. Madison is good but SV is clearly better than Madison in my opinion. I feel that SV is the third best team in the area, behind #1. Clemens and #2 San Marcos

SV: disciplined, better defense, better coaching. Madison has good offense, but a medicore defense. Plus they will be playing at SV & SV will probably only have to play against 11 at a time on the field instead of 16.

Mad: PF 219 (27. per game) PA 122 (15.3 per game) MOV +12
The edge certainly goes to SV @ home. The numbers would not support the arguement for a SV blowout, but as any of use who follow the 265 knows, Madison is capable of implosion at any time. I hope for a Madison upset. It should be a close game, but if it is a SV blowout it will be because of Madison ball control errors that will be obvious to all of us. Don't jump me right away on that statement, because I don't say it trying to take anything away from SV before the game. It's just my opinion. :)

Ofcourse if we look at the common opponent MOV it looks like this:
.....................SV..................Madison
Churchill...........-4......................+21
Judson...........+14.......................+9
Lee................+32.....................+16
Reagan............+3......................+12
Total..............+45.....................+58
Madison +13 against common opponents; still would not bet my savings on this game.

I would have to say SV, only because they are the better coached team. I also think they have a much beter defense, if you give up over 300 yards to a poor Judson team, then SV will carve you up.

You will either win or lose On Friday and that is a given. I just think they will lose, if you think that beating Judson and using it as a measuring stick, don't. Judson was playing their best football against Sv and that is not saying much. I am just comparing Judson's offense against both Madsion and SV since I have seen both games.

I could be mistaken but I think Judsons defense was a little different in the SV game than in the Madison game. I think grades and injuries have changed a few faces in the Judson lineup lately. Ross-fowler at NG..you got to be kidding me!!

Well, Bucky, they have to go with the best that is left. down to 3rd stringers in 2-3 positions.
Mavs, basketballs will wait awhile. You have two games left & then playoffs. SV doesn't want to go to basketball--too much dribbling & too much drubbing by their opponents.

Don't believe most Rocket fans are going to switch. We've been down this road before and bounced back all the way to the top, which is something ya'll, the Astros and Bills have in common: not having THE ring(s).
We're going to stay with 'em despite having 9, now 10 starters out, new blocking schemes, and new coaches. Good luck to the Buffs, Snakes and Mats in playoffs--no cream puffs there.

I dont think there is any disaster possible. If SV takes the loss, no big deal, if Madison takes it, still, no big deal. To be real honest I see Madison getting the W by 14. Now IF, IF, SV plays like they are capable, they will win it. So far this season, I have only seen it in spurts. Last year SV was not doing too well, and the season turned around this very week, against this exact team. SV was suppose to get pounded, and something in the program changed, and they won 42-6 (I think), and went on for one of the best runs in SV history.

thanks zippy, you are the most honest guy I've discussed this game with. I am in the position of saying it won't be the blow out it was last year. That's all I've been trying to say. The stats and the home field give the edge to SV, but it should be close. It's a one mistake game. Best wishes to SV and Madison.

The SV Rangers will hardly ever out gain their opponets in total yardage. What a lot of people do not understand is that you don't have to have a bunch of yards to win. When the defense stops opponets within their own 20 yrd lines and the special teams plays well, the offense has short fields. Therefor when the offense only has to go 40 yrds on each possesion as opposed to the other teams 80, the total yardage is going to be skewed a little bit.

What I really hope for is a Madison District title. This area has consistantly played the tightest football in the state for the past 25 years. The dominance has moved around, but always a tough district. I believe Madison won a district title in 1979. Madison's first graduating class came along in 1980!

I have agreed that SV style of playing tough defense in the red zone and turning TOs into points is a sign of a good football team. However, after our game with SM last week, it didn't take very long for a couple of SV posters to point out how we were not that good at all because SM outgained us in total yards. Imagine that! We played an SV style game (tough defense inside our own 30, returned an INT for 6, returned a kickoff 101 yds for 6,) but all of a sudden we are the ones that are over-rated! LOL Maybe a double standard? Can only SV play this type of football and be considered a good team?

I am not stupid enough to say that Clemens is not a great team. In fact I am worried that if SV loses to Madison, there playoffs might be cut to the 1st round. Clemens is a great team, and the way they played against San Marcos just makes them all the more respectable in my mind.

I haven't seen either team play, but I feel better about Madison than I have in 3 years. I say Madison wins it, but I'd like for it to be SV so Judson will be the only recent team to sweep district.

I can totally respect that statement, it shows that you are really, really, a CJ fan! If I wasn't headed to West Texas to take my kids hunting I'd go to this game because it has all the makings of a great one. I will however be crawing up on our water tower about 10:00 this evening to get cell phone service to check scores. LOL

I just don't understand how EC has gotten to where they are at right now. Heck, I beleive it was my wife's senior year they played CJ a heck of a game at Judson and had a chance to win it. Now, they just don't have much. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense! There numbers haven't dropped off in the last few years so I really don't think that the talent pool they draw from has changed that much either! I'd like to see them get better because Clemens playing EC does not get much excitement going around our house anymore!

SV 28 Madison 27

Don't believe most Rocket fans are going to switch. We've been down this road before and bounced back all the way to the top, which is something ya'll, the Astros and Bills have in common: not having THE ring(s).
We're going to stay with 'em despite having 9, now 10 starters out, new blocking schemes, and new coaches. Good luck to the Buffs, Snakes and Mats in playoffs--no cream puffs there.
That's the spirit. I'm not giving up, either. I get frustrated and mad, but I still like the team and sure hope they make the playoffs. I'm proud to be a Judson fan and you can't be a fan just in the good times.

Last year, I think Madison was demoralized from the combo of Judson ending their undefeated run and the after affects of not having Dustin Arthur.

Anyone with a brain will know it is a toss-up. I also know it will not be a SV blowout like last year. Madison will be there for revenge, and SV is not playing like they are capable, so thats why I say what I say. It might be a good game however. I hope so anyway...

What I really hope for is a Madison District title. This area has consistantly played the tightest football in the state for the past 25 years. The dominance has moved around, but always a tough district. I believe Madison won a district title in 1979. Madison's first graduating class came along in 1980!
Who are you kidding? :D The dominance stopped moving in 1982 and plopped down at the corners of FM 78 and 1516!

A team that consistently plays tough defense in the red zone and gets timely turnovers is very good and will win a lot of games. It doesn't matter nearly as much how good your defense is between the 20's.

I admire you for wanting your team to win, but I do not feel that will happen here, if so it will in your words be a Upset. I will also tell you with Streety as a head coach you already know that a state championship will not happen here, but I wish Madison all the luck in the world down the road. You would have to be a Moron to think otherwise.
Let me see, do I agree with Red6X or not?
I could be nice and say Streety might win a title or I can be mean and say, "No way, he's right."

I kinda came to that conclusion a few weeks ago. I asked how Judson's offense could be so bad considering that Mangold had good success at Madison. It has to be that they win on talent despite the coaching.

Teams win games, not single players. I say the score would have been the same. They have faced VERY talented players before, and won the games.

I think Joe Pawelek could put that fear in almost any running back! That kid was all MAN! I wouldn't care if someone ran for 260+ and passed for 240 (ala Vince Young) as long as my team won the game! The only stat that really matters in the end is the scoreboard!!!
