I love this place....
Anyone thats never been there, you need to go.
One in 3rd Ward on Scott, and another off of 45 in north Houston.
Seriously...its freaking good.

The rest of them are CRAP.....I only go to the one in 3rd Ward....well worth the drive and the line wrapped around the building. I saw Damon James and his Baby Mama(Tina Thompson) there the last time I went.

Yeah know, i don't mind waiting that long....as long as they keep producing the same great Fried Chicken, ill always come back. i usually go down there and pick up some chicken before football games on fridays... Thats right, i drive the 20 or so minutes from Humble(off beltway) to eat my heart out.

there's always good entertainment standing in line....you get your everyonce in a while local celeb....or the beggars around there who are bold as hell...they don't ask for a dollar.....they want "A King Special with an extra thigh and a skrawberry drank"

so does my family! some weeks a little less only cause we don't have the money to go. since they built one in my neighborhood i've kicked churches to the curb! they even have a "roo special".
frenchys is the best though!

I heard about Frenchy's forever before I finally tried it... at 1 a.m. after burning a few trees! Needless to say it was the best fried chicken I've ever had and I haven't been back to Popeye's since!

I'm not big on chicken in general, but something tells me I've never had it done quite like this place. And I want some of that strawberry soda.

Brisket, fajitas, steak, etc for me usually. That gets in trouble when I go back to North Carolina because they are all about pork out there. You ask for brisket out there and they act like they don't know anything about it. And slow smoked on the brisket- is there even another way to do it, honestly...
I've only had fried chicken from the big chains.

I want to try this Frenchy's place out. I bet fried chicken is similar to pizza in that when you get it done RIGHT, everything else is a cheap imitation. Ever since I found out where my favorite pizza place moved to in Houston (Brother's Pizza, Brooklyn style), I haven't ordered any kind of take out. I just wait until the next time I can go back to this place.

Eating chicken only at the big chains is where you have been led astray, my friend. What they serve up is not really fried chicken. All too often the batter is excessively thick, the chicken inside is greasy, the fried covering actually TOO crunchy (not crispy).
Real, skillet fried chicken-- the kind that your grandma makes by shaking the chicken pieces in a paper bag with the coating-- is ambrosial. The outside is crispy, not too thick, and golden brown, darker than your usual Churches or KFC. The inside is pure white and JUICY not greasy. Mmmmmmmmmm. I love beef as much as anyone but it is tough to go wrong with real fried chicken.

That is the only kind of fried chicken I'll eat...none of this Church's and KFC stuff....but I havent had any in years!

Seriously...its freaking good.Churchs on the East Side of S.A. has good chicken.:D

speaking of being here...I think Matt is in town.
we went to Frenchy's i got the Managers Special, 2 thighs, dirty rice & a biscuit and strawberry soda. Hubby got the Creole Sausauge Po' Boy with fries so we can try different things, sorry ya'll i dont see what the hype is about the batter has a good taste but its to damn greasy and they are stingey on their sides give me some more fries and rice, however i did like the Po' Boy it was pretty good but damn $6.00 for the combo was a little steep to me and the strawberry soda tasted like Fanta red, Big Red is better the total for just that little bit came to $12.00 im like DAAAMN i could of ate @ buffet for a couple $'s more, we are probably not gonna eat there again....my hubby said it was alot better back in the day

yeah they serve the same thing here i get mashed potatoes, mac&cheese, salmon, sometimes baked fish, chicken strips, etc, but i stay away from the greens Cat fish is aaight but the fish to eat is Tilapia...i ♥ tilapia
