Traveling to Austin today with my Aggie shirt packed. My valedictorian daughter wants to take an official visit to tu in Austin. Something about Austin having a good business school.

So is this what "house divided" feels like?

The McCombs School of Business is in the top 5 nationally. She'll get hired somewhere before she even smells her degree.

i am enduring a son at tu, as we speak. someone asked me how i was going to handle it, and i told them that it was his problem, not mine. all i know for sure is that i have bought him the 2 most important rings i'll ever buy. if he wants a tu ring, he can buy his own, or wear his grandfather's.

She liked her visit. She is looking at a Business Honors degree which she is a lock to get admitted to because of her #1 class rank. There were over 160 valedictorians from around the state admitted to this degree over the past four years at McCombs.

McCombs is No. 10 in the nation as a business school this year which is pretty good.

The kids we met were nice and the campus was good looking. I'd never been on the tour.

She still wants to take the tour at Mays Business School too. So there is some hope for her. :D

Well Valedictorian status does NOT make you a lock for BHP, I know 3 personally who have been rejected. You get automatic admission to McCombs, but not BHP.

That being said BHP is the best business program in the country, better even than Wharton, and to get in is a great accomplishment.

And she's still looking at Mays? What kind of indocrination do you have going on there?

They did mention at UT Freshman Admissions that class size and competitiveness of the high school mattered when evaluating valedictorians. They also mentioned that some private schools don't rank their classes the same way as the public schools do and that can be a detriment.

My daughter's class size at Hebron HS is over 600.
