After losing a game they should have won against Pearland and only losing by a point to Lamarque I started doubting Ball had what it took to make a true run. This team has size speed and is loaded with experience. The adjustments they made against Creek this week after falling behind 14-0 in the 1st quarter was impressive. If Rajon comes back by playoffs, Dobie will have its hands full. The biggest adjustment that has impressed me is Dwight Taylor running out of the back field and Avery Curry moving to defense. With this team loaded with Seniors, there is a true sense of urgency in making the run this year because they will be in another down cycle after this year. I believe this team will go a few rounds in the playoffs. Oh, they came back to win that game 50 - 14 against Creek. If Dobie found Deer Park tough, then Ball will be a wrecking ball by comparison in the first round.

Is Pat Culpepper still the coach down there?
He was our coach in Lufkin in the late 80's early 90's...

The head coach down there is Ron Holmes. Unless he is an assitant then he has problably moved on.

I totally agree.....Galveston Ball is a tough squad! I attended the Galveston Ball/Pearland game!

The game I'm looking forward to is Pearland vs North Shore...first round playoff game! I've seen Ball play once...and Pearland play 3 times! I want to see Whitaker face a defense that gave up just 15 yards in the first half against a 2 loss Deer Park team!

Your right, this should be another fun matchup. Whitaker came of age as a sophmore last year against North Shore, rushing for more than a 145 yards. But that was with an awesome pass attack and a running qb (Buckner) at the helm. Pearland has had this matchup every year and hasn't gotten over the hump yet. I thought last years team was better equipped offensively for this matchup and this team lacks the balance, but who knows. Should be fun to watch, obviously I'm in Pearland's corner but the lack of passing worries me in this matchup.

As far as Deer Park goes, they lack speed and were losing to Clear Creek at half time 21 - 17. That lack of speed will show up everytime against North Shore. Thats why I like Ball, they are more balanced and possess all the tangibles to make a run. (They even kept their composure when the streaker ran across the field at the Creek game lol).

Oiler1 i guess you did not see specialy pass last friday at brazoswood?

you should have a little more faith in your team. They will do fine.

Pearland1...nothing worse than blind faith. I will always have Maroon running through my veins but I can spot a weakness a mile away.

Currently Michael's stats after 8 games are as follows:

COMP=26 ATT=51 INT=3 YDS=364 TD=3

Brazoswood game was 130 yards of that by itself and 6 of 10 against a team nobody has had to throw against because they have allowed 1700+ yards rushing. Passing has not been used much against better teams with success. When you have Whitaker, there isn't as much need to throw. Against North Shore or Westfield however, Pearland will have to keep them honest with some passing or they will load the box and just bring it. Sneaking by G'ball by 3 is not the same as playing NS or Westfield in the playoffs. If you are to one dimensional in the playoffs you will lose, just ask PA and Jamaal Charles last year and he is twice the back Whitaker is today. Will see how well they throw (if at all) against Creek this week which has good speed at the DB but poor LB core. The Pearland defense will also be tested through the air this week and next.

That said, I will be rooting for Pearland every step of the way and would love to see them take it all the way. Getting past North Shore would be something special. :D
