I love that scheduling for the team they have coming back. Lots to look forward to and work towards this off-season with those three names at the top of the list... especially as they'll probably headline the Texas Showcase thing and finally get their national day in the sun as the perceived Big Dog from Texas (let's face it... SLC has been the national face of TX HS FB for a long time now). Then, a district schedule that should see them continue to improve and tune up for another monster playoff run. Perfect schedule for a team with a lot coming back like they have.... especially if some of those district teams end up being a little better than expected.

In the words of Norm Hitzges "Aim soary" That district is overrated. The Keller schools are not that good and Grapevine is mediocre at best. LD Bell is horrible. Trinity will run away with it. Cedar Hill and Allen are tough as will be the team they play from wherever.

Like you really know. The district will prepare trinity for another loonngg run. Hopefully they will get to show you how good Mesquite isn't.

I think he's a SV Ranger fan by his screenname LOL
You can't assume people are fans of teams just by their location.

Other than MacArthur their district was AWFUL last year and look where that got them.

That's right, Katy and SLC's districts haven't been all that tough either but if your good, your good. Barring injury, Trinity has a chance to go undefeated but could fall to 8-2 or 7-3 with those first 3 games. Knowing Lineweaver, he won't panic if they start off slow (see last year's loss to Permian). I think he welcomes a tough non-district schedule for 2 reasons.
1 he has a hard time finding teams who will play him and 2, it shows him what he needs to work on before the playoffs. The district schedule is used to fine tune the weaknesses they have. They'll be in the hunt again this year.

Folks will say what they want about that group of teams. They have for years. Bottomline is, however, we were prepped for the playoffs just fine playing in that district. Trinity will be more than ok.

People said the same thing about the district Trinity was in last year. Didn't look like it hurt them last year. So why will it this year?

It won't. I'd argue you'll be even better prepared with this schedule because of the variety of offense you'll see.

I'm thinking the same exact thing. Oh trust me, I know it won't. I just find it funny when people try to play that card. :D

Coach Lineweaver doesn't like it when "we beat our own drum"! I do think that what you said has some merit.
IF Trinity was to go undefeated in 2008, we could possibly have a few "feathers in our cap". It is a big if! It wouldn't be easy at all.
Feathers
John Curtis Traditional National Power
Cedar Hill great Texas team, Cedar Hill plays Cincinatti Lasalle week 0
Allen a team that is very near the top of Texas
Colleyville Heritage playsClovis East (California) week zero, another team on the national radar
Possible playoff opponents
Arlington Bowie playsTrotwood-Madison (Ohio) week zero
Odessa Permian Texas power
Plano Texas Power
All of the underlined teams are taking part at Texas Stadium in week zero. If the Texas teams have a strong showing in week zero it can only help Trinity's chances at finally getting their national day in the sun as the perceived Big Dog from Texas.

Looks like the toughest games are in Week 2 and Week 3 against Cedar Hill and Allen. Interesting to have your "bye" week in Week 1.

I like the schedule and I'm not too concerned about having a loss or two early in the season, which is a distinct possibility. Lineweaver, as always, will build this team's momentum as the season progresses and have them hitting on all cylinders by the time playoffs roll around. The goal is to win the title and whether their record is 16 - 0 or 14 - 2 is immaterial.
As an earlier poster said, this schedule will give them a variety of looks to prepare for they'll face a lot of big game pressure early. That can only help them later in the year.

I agree, it would be quite a feat! I do think this team has the ability I just know that we usually have a few stumbling steps out of the blocks!
