Check out this piece on the embattled NY Governor. They call out the party affiliation of the "minority leader" that is leading the charge against this guy before they mention that the Gov is a Democrat. Yesterday's leading story in the USAToday didn't even mention Spitzer's Party, but made sure to announce that the guy busted for the Airport sex-solicitation was from the GOP.
It's not even unusual to me any more that they do it. It is no less irresponsible though. Yeah, I'm the dummy that read their paper, and I'm sure that two days in a row is still just an isolated incident, but their journalistic integrity is zero with me.
here's a newsweek commentary.. one word is missing from the piece- Democrat. ironic huh?

contrast these with the pieces on Bathroom Lover, Larry Craig...

ironic huh? just a coincidence, huh? i didn't have to even dig for 2 articles to make my point. Why mention the word Democrat when it has no bearing on the case( or influence people's opinions of Dems?) Make sure you let people know how terrible and immoral the Republicans are. heck we might even gain a few Congressional seats with it.
I'm not a Foxnews supporter, as they do the exact same thing for conservatives. I am just put out with the editorialization of news reporting. i don't mind the opinions, just don't sit there and tell me you're being objective when it's obvious that you're not.

I can't remember the last time I watched network news or CNN. And MSNBC is beyond ridiculous. The newspapers have been good for nothing but sports and fishwrapping forever. Thank God for the internet and radio....But it is still incredible how many watch CNN / MSNBC and actually buy their crap. It's difficult for "Joe sixpack" to really know what is going on.

Fox, while presenting shows that are more conservative, does 10 times the job of any of the others on hard news. If it weren't for the Hannity show, there would be no conservative views on any channel.

You only need to be able to read to see what major newspapers are supporting who to determine if they are liberally bias. They are!
If any students of journalism are on this site I would like to hear reasons why it seems like liberalism = good and conservatism = bad is being taught in our schools.

I was a journalism major at UofH, but spun off into business. I think it is because most college students are idealistic and those who stay in the liberal arts or sciences remain so. those that head into the business disciplines become more realistic. Journalists remain idealistic (liberal) as they editorialize. Just MO.

I am a journalism major. We were taught "by the book". Yes, there was a libel class involved- believe it or not :D . We didn't spend much time covering the editorial branch. It appears this is something that manifests itself more in the overall college experience (no parents, none of my own money, freedom- woot!) and then "real world", but we weren't taught to slant our writing or anything of that nature. And I went to school in a town with a liberal reputation second only to Austin and Vermont perhaps (Appalachian State, Boone NC...rapidly growing school, formerly just a teaching school in the 90s).

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
for every instance of a "liberal bias" that you bring up, i can come right back with a conservative bias.
Newspapers endorse conservative candidates on a 3-1 ratio, b/c the vast majority of newspaper editors are conservatives.
Talk radio is not even close to balanced...
And I'm sorry, but I can't take a network seriously that endorses calling people Nazis (O'Reilly).

Okay..... Point 1: BS
Point 2: BS
Point 3: It doesn't claim to be balanced
Point 4: BS ...O'Reilly isn't the network anymore than that doofus Olbermann is...
So, on balance I guess your post is mostly BS...:p

Fox News is my go to source for when I want to know about bad things happening to attractive white women. Their coverage of that issue is flawless.

HOO Ha- Let's do the numbers. Here's my list of what a true conservative goverment should do.
1) A real conservative government would Provide the nation with Military Protection.
2) From instant of birth through the very last breath insure every person a equal opportunity to carry their own weight as far as only their mind and/or strength will allow them to go.
The major newspapers of the USA, the ones who reach the most people are pinko liberal. The only news channel in the USA that could be considered conserative would be Fox, If you watch for every conservative point made there will be a liberal person who will make a counterpoint. That is fair and balanced. You won't see that on ABCNBCCBSCNN or the rest. The last group, hates Fox because they are fair and balanced. It is what is. Your wrong for some reason, in your media thoughts.
Anything free from the goverment is liberal. So I leave you a lot of space below for you to list what a liberal goverment should provide.

Technicality speaking your right. On a zero ten scale with 10 being ultra conserative and zero the ultra liberal side Fox would be a moderate or 5. Viewing it from my side in the ten position to Obama in a zero position then Fox appears fair and balanced.

Thanks to you and KT. Now I know and still I don't. Who begat who? Where did it start and who get's credit. The scary thing to me is, the dumber we get (and we are) the easier it is to lead us. We will give up anything for a promise from both sides.

My main gripe with both the conservative and liberal media is the lack of reporting of anything of substance. The BBC comes closest to what I think News media should be. Unfortunately, they're neither entertaining nor sensationalist enough. I think the general public in this country requires that those elements exist when watching the news.

Thank you, the defense rests....:p I mean if anyone wants to try and convince us that the media, print, CNN, MSNBC and network TV are not liberal...I want some of what they are smokin/drinkin...It's as obvious as Rush is a conservative talk show host & Airhead America is lib, although they have no more listenership.

I think a big part of it is just the proliferation of news media in the life of the average person. It wasn't that long ago when people only got news from one of two sources, the radio and the newspaper.
The information market is completely saturated, and the public gets blitzed from every direction. You have thousands upon thousands of news outlets now that anyone with a Net connection can access, so the various media engage in frenzied competition to get noticed. I think this increased competition has led to the more editorial-style "reporting" we see today. Opinions are great to have, but the primary function of the news media is to inform the general public with the facts.
It seems we've drifted from simply reporting news to making news, and that's where I have the biggest problem with the general direction of media today.
