did Tech have Junior days this past weekend or something?
Very unusual for them to get 3 commits all at once, this early in the game.

I think Junior Day was the same weekend as the UT basketball game. I also heard it was Leach's largest and most talented junior day so far in his tenure.

Yeah Junior Day was the same day as the TTU vs UT game.
They weren't all at once and I'm pretty sure that not everyone of these guys that committed were there.
Seems we only improved our stock with various kids. They found out that Lubbock is a lot nicer than they thought it was. That Tech fans are crazy and Tech girls are beautiful.

All I know is Mr. Scott punked one of UT's hotshot RB's (Chris Whaley) in a game last year!:D
Yes, these will be good guys.

They had one the day of the UT basketball game and another one is coming up in about 10 days.
Officially, I think they had 1 recruit each of 3 days. I just didn't care to post the guys like the Texas guys do and I sure wasn't going to dedicate a thread to each player.
I prefer not to talk much about who Tech is getting and then shock people with the players they get. It was Scott, Cobb, and Johnson in that order.

Most players that committ to Tech are sold on the fact that they get an unlimited supply of flour tortillas.

I think TTU has an inside deal going with Rosa's...there has to be a reason we have 3!

They're also sold on the fact that they have plenty of reasons to toss them during the OU game!:D:p

I could throw up a Tech Hottie thread and easily get people saying there willing to risk it.

Yup those are the good kind that you don't throw at the game.

I wasn't going to dedicate a thread about each player. But I don't see the harm in telling people Tech picked up some kids. Shows we can pull in some kids early as well. Besides these kids seem solid on Tech. Tech is also in on some really highly sought after recruits as I'm sure you know. Those ones I'm fine with being more secretive about.
All defensive recruits as well and other fanbases like to say we don't make an effort to recruit defense.
I just like the fact that it does seem Tech is finally getting over more each year with recruits. That they are finally recognizing our consistent winning seasons and graduation rate. Also it seems like we have more and more Tech alums in the coaching ranks which can't be a bad thing. Hopefully we can get more kids to come out and see Tech early on. Help dispel some of the myths about Lubbock.

much of what is said about Lubbock is true. My time at Tech was aweesome though. The city of Lubbock is a mess. It's a big reason we don't live there any more. I like Amarillo 2x as much, and the Houston area about 5X as much, and that's with miserable weather for 6mo. out of the year. For going to school though, Tech was awesome.

I've never really hung out all that much in Amarillo.
Lubbock has done some things to get a little nicer. Like the Overton Park which was the largest private redevelopment project ever undertaken in the U.S. It's not without it's flaws... but people make it out to be either just horrible or a ghost town most of the time. Yet it's the 3rd largest city in the Big 12 I believe.
Traffic in Lubbock > better than DFW(I'm from there) and Houston.

The "Name" colleges go for the recruits who are ranked high whether they're overrated or not. These days OU goes for every player that Tech wants so I figure why tip people to who you might steal? I also don't want to give other colleges a chance to badmouth potential Tech recruits. What gets said here can be posted elsewhere.

Those other teams know they have no shot at beating Tech if they have good defensive players.

Lubbock is the 2nd largest city in the Big 12 behind Austin, but you can bump them behind Colorado in the metro area department because of Denver, behind OU because of Oklahoma City, and maybe Lincoln in metro area. Lawrence might be in the KC metro area.

The city of Lincoln, NE is bigger than Lubbock. The Boulder MSA (Boulder is not included with Denver) is also bigger than Lubbock metro.

I went back to check all the metro area populations and here is what I saw:
Austin 1.513 million
Oklahoma City (Norman) 1.173 million
Lincoln 284K
Boulder 282K
Lubbock 261K
Waco 226K
Bryan-College Station 192K
Columbia 155K
Lawrence 112K
Ames 80K
Manhattan and Stillwater are not in metro areas.
Austin (690), Lincoln (239), Lubbock (210), Waco (120), and Norman (102) are over 100K in population.
