Seahawks land another back, sign Jones
By Adam Schefter | NFL Network
For the second time this week, the Seattle Seahawks have landed a free agent running back. NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the team reached an agreement Friday night with former Cowboys running back Julius Jones.
Details of the contract's length and terms are still unclear. Both the Jones camp and the Seahawks are being tight lipped due to the sensitivity of the deal. This week, the Seahawks have signed former Lions running back T.J. Duckett and have now landed Jones, leaving less room in the backfield and on the team's salary cap for former NFL MVP Shaun Alexander and/or Seahawks running back Maurice Morris.

One question: Who's in the Front Office f/t Seahawks?? Duckett and Jones?? Over a healthy Alexander and Morris.... and B. Leonard. I know they're looking to drop Alexander, which is weird. Guess we wont know until at least 8 games into 2008.

Well, we'll see pretty soon in 2008.. if he's truly fully healthy he doesn't have any excuses left. Either he will prove to be back in great form or totally dissapear on the depth chart, on whatever team he's playing for. I'm assuming he's out in Seattle.

I 100% agree. It used to be Alexander's team, it's Hasslebeck's team now. I'd like to see Seattle rely more on their good QB, especially since Bobby Engram provides for a good bench WR in fantasy football!

Wow, it looks like the Seahawks might not think as much of Alexander as the statisticians do !!!!!

I think it will be a good fit -- a pretty good 2 or 3 back system. If JJ doesn't produce in camp - he'll be gone. Actually, it wouldn't surprise me to see him cut if Morris and Alexander have good camps - and both are healthy.

Well, the Seahawks didn't think much of (OL) Hutchinson to keep him around, either. How's that working for them?? Oh, wait.. let me help you out. Minnesota ranked 1st in the NFL in rushing ypg and tds. Seattle ranked 20th. And.. Seattle also ranked 4th in sacks given up. I'd give a healthy Alexander a chance, but I'm not Seattle. My take is that Shaun isn't likeable and has had too many run-ins w/ the Front Office and Coaches as far as to what he's deserved (The "me" syndrome!). My take is that Seattle is pretty much like New England and Philadelphia. They don't cater, financially or respectfully, to celebs! :D

Well I hope your team would have Steve Hutchinson and Walter Jones on it, then I could see it work.

IMOP I think that it was a bad move for us to lose him. We had a good one/two system going. JJ didn't make us lose in the playoff our sorry :Censor: tackling and drop balls lost it for us.

Why was it a bad move? The offense wasn't as effective whenever he was in. I think that MB will be an amazing feature back.

That break a way speed I like MB but running the ball over 25 time he just ran out of gas. We got the brute with MB but we still need that threat to go all of the way.

You might be right that we might need a speed and fast back that can take it all the way, but I differ in opinion with you about Julius Jones. He was not that back that could break away.

Alexander is done. I would definitely take JJ over Alexander.
Hated Alexander ever since his little "oh no one knows who I am I get no respect I need recognition" speech.

He was not that back that could break away.He is much faster than MB but not as hard.......last year he did break a long run over 90yards vs N/O I believe(or maybe the Seahawks) like the first play of the game.If JJ break not too many players will catch him from the back.I hope that this don't come back and bite us in the butt.

That was the one run in a few years where that happened. Trust me, I was a huge Julius fan after his first year. But after that it seemed like I was sitting there going "OK, maybe THIS will be the play." But he just never showed it. Great person, but just never showed the desire to break away that I was always wanting to see. Too many time I saw him run straight into the pile and go down, not even trying to break it outside or find the lanes.

I agree and have been saying this for some time now. He never came to be that back and we do need one.

That's a good place for JJ, he will probably be a back-up with the Seahawks:D
