Houston finally has hit their stride in the second half. I think with Dirk this game is about 10 points closer though no doubt, but the Rockets still win.

Pretty much everytime Dirk doesn't play, some of the other guys on Dallas get exposed some. Dirk has always demanded more attention than most NBA fans give him credit for attracting.

Dirk isn't perfect and he has flaws like his defense at times, but I also know he's asked to do things that nobody else his size is asked to do. 7 footers stay in the paint to bang. Dirk is asked to go out on the floor to guard midgets at times. Dirk also gets a rap for being a 7 footer and not playing like any 7 footer before him.

What people don't realize is Dirk creates mismatches just by being on the floor. Most guys his size can't guard him on the perimeter and he drives by them. If you put a small guy on him, he can shoot over them. A 2nd or 3rd defender always has to keep an eye out for him and that opens up more passing lanes.

When you put a small guy on Dirk, you're going to have 1 of 2 things happen. A big guy will be matched against a small on Dallas and get burnt or a small lineup from the other team will get pounded on the boards by Dallas.

The flipside is Dirk is going to get beat by small guys at times on "D".
