i had hoped to see him play at rhodes stadium this weekend, i talked to one of his neighbors at an astro game vs.the cards and was told he has a major-league leg. i don't know what # he is, so I didnt know to look for him on the sideline, but why didn't he play? Is he hurt?

He's a big-time player kicker. And his teamate jonathon Moore deserves some cudos too.

However, don't talk about Strake Jesuit or its players here or the administrator, KT2000, will either CLOSE your thread, or ban you from the site. He is very closed-minded and biased and VERY anti-Strake Jesuit. Here is a quote from a response on the Katy booster board, which he also administrates on the topic of Strake's outlook for the rest of the season:

They'll get what they deserve. That's all I have to say on the subject. Whether it be in district or the playoffs, they will get what they deserve. I'm not worried about it.

He's already CLOSED two threads on this site in the last few days that some Strake fans were posting on. Isn't it a shame that this board is open for all opinions unless they're opinions the admin KT2000 doesn't agree with?

If you read this, remember you did, it won't be here tomorrow.

Hmmm......and you wonder why these threads get locked....

Gee, with a sunshine personality like you have, we should all be friends.

My question has nothing to do with any controversy between Strake and Katy High School, it's just a football question. I believe the administrator shut down those threads because they disintegrated into lots of finger pointing, name-calling and rumor-mongering, and there's nothing to be gained by that.

If anyone knows the answer to why Madsen didn't play, I'd really appreciate knowing it, I hated driving an hour to not see the guy I came to see. I hope he is not hurt so that maybe I can go try and see him again this season. Best of luck to the Crusaders the rest of the way, they got great efforts from #2 and #4 to pull out a good win.

Grades.

He has been a lot of fun to watch.

No Katy talk...

Is Madsen like the SLC kicker from 2003? Don't know his name but he setup on the 50 and drilled field goals right through the uprights before the game... Not many like that... fun to watch when you get to see them...

im not sure if its grades cause usually they tell the public that but it was indisclosed info. he'll be back for the cinco game at rhodes in 2 weeks.
and yes he has a major league leg and is a damn fine WR. check out his stats on the chronicles site. strake has had many good kickers, the last one was luke juist who is at Rice now. he was a top 15 national kicker. his punts would go through the posts and his FG's were in the 50s.

That was Garrett Hartley, now kicking for OU

Drake, nothing false about my statement.

Every team gets what they deserve in the end. Strake is no different. Keep diggin'.

Oh, and most of you (Strake fans) will be wondering why you can't read and post on the Katy board. You'll have to take that up with the 20-30 Strake students (I presume) who decided to flood the board four weeks ago and post profanity-laced messages. As a result of that, I've been forced to ban all Crusaders from the Katy board.

He's the one guy I told the Katy fans to look for on kickoffs and field goals. He was absent. I was wanting to see if he could kick in the stiff breeze that was blowin' down on the field.
You Strake guys don't talk it up about the Tyree kid. He's Strake's big time player IMO.

rwilleby
10-23-2005, 10:25 PM
I'll have to try and catch an OU game, then... Man that kid can kick... I haven't seen a lot of kickers, but from the 50! Dang, very impressive and very intimidating... I wonder why you don't see more kickers like than in the pros? Or maybe I just don't watch enough pro ball...

Madsen is much improved as a kicker since last season. He has some potential as a Div I kicker. He has some great potential as a soccer player too.

Tyree is a great player, one of the super 300 according to Dave Campbell. He has excellent potential as a Div I football player, and he's a heck of a basketball player and a quick track rummer to boot.

htownfootball
10-24-2005, 12:42 AM
Tyree is great he is being highly recruited for basketball and football from the likes of Kansas State and Stanford. he is a Texas top 100 player for 05 in both sports. he has been playing varsity in bball and fball for 4 years.
other good players include: scott coffman: strakes biggest and best linebacker; madsen for his real deal leg and WR stats, jonathan moore for his -4.6 40 time and runningback skills, and tim bandy for his great comeback season. after taking over for current RB chris ogbonnaya at QB his soph year in a game vs bay city he lost after playing 2.5 quarters. he then won the rest of the 7 games vs texas power dallas jesuit, jasper, waller. in his jr year he was the first UIL 5a jesuit qb and went 2-5 vs 19-5A opponents and 2-6 vs 5A and 2-0 vs TAPPS and threw more int's than TDs. this year he has 10 TDs and 3 int's and is the number 2 stats leader QB in 19-5a behind andy dalton from katy, who just this saturday night verbally committed to TCU while sporting a record of 7-0 en route to a 10-0 week like the last jesuit team that posted a 10-0 season since that team only played 10 weeks on an independent format with no playoffs or any sort of championship. he is also 5-0 vs 5A this year and 2-0 vs TAPPS.
congrats to his year and the comeback year of jesuit with the loss of jefferson in the baytown lee win with the birth of an RB in DB/WR Jonathan moore, ron counter's heartattack comeback and the defense stepping up in DL brian allgerier, LB scott coffman, DE ryan keel and the DBs of moses ogbonnaya, jonathan moore, daniel york and terry tate, the oline for stepping up with 3 soph's after graduating 4 d1 players in 2 years that averaged 6'3 295+ lbs and soph davis burk for stepping up from freshman A team to varsity with a surprise year stepping up with the likes of moses ogbonnaya, stephen tyree and david tscheope.

What are you, SJ's friggin' PR guy?

Just tell us about the kicker... and not how great every Strake player is, AGAIN!

ktCarl

David Tscheope? Is that last name spelled correctly? I saw that and first thing I thought was stethoscope.
How is it pronounced?
Elsik has good team speed but are a young group and play inconsistently. I think their running back has 4.3 speed. No one I've seen on Strake would be able to run him down so you better bottle him up. I hope they are Strake's next opponent since I brought them up. They have a bad kicking game, especially the punting team. If Strake forces Elsik to punt, go for the block.

I hate to be a stick in the mud, but has strake actually clinched a playoff spot as per what's his names sig? They are 4-0 with 2 games to go, but both Hastings and Cinco ranch are 2-2. If H and CR both went 2-0 and SJ went 0-2, they'd all be 4-2 and that would be 3 teams vying for 2 playoff spots. In that scenario, SJ beat H but CR beat SJ and cuz of the 19-5A DEC, CR and H didn't play each other so I wonder what the next tie breaker would be.

I dont think Strake will lose to Elsik, but it stranger things have happened when you count your chickens before they hatch.

But Strake could lose to Elsik and it wouldn't be strange. I'm tellin' ya Strake has good speed at the skill positions. They just lack consistency. They are good enough to run your socks off though. Don't overlook them.

I'm not sure if Strake has mathematically clinched yet or not. I guess we assumed we'd get a little help from Katy this weekend when they play Cinco. How ironic.

Who's left on Strakes schedule? I'm not sure, but I think that Strake has indeed clinched a playoff spot. It all depends on who's left to play.

Elsik at home, Cinco at Rhodes (Rhodes is pretty nice by the way)

I'm almost positive SJ is in... I figured that for some time now... I think the question is who's Third?

Madsen - discipliary issues.

Strake - virtually in. One more win clinches them a spot.

TheOnceandFutureKnight

yes strake has mathematically clinched the berth im almost 100% positive.

week 9: cinco beats katy ( I know I know, impossible, just like alief taylor beating katy last year, or clear lake beating them in the playoffs, or strake beating cinco last year), elsik beats strake, hastings beats taylor

week 10: cinco beats strake, hastings beats elsik

strake 4-2; cinco 4-2; hastings 4-2

head-to-head tie-breakers don't work so you go to point differential among the 3, but that doesn't work because cinco and hastings didn't play each other. So what's the next tie-breaker? point differential against common opponents? point differential vs. the rest of the district (which would royally screw hastings who got decimated by katy while strake didn't play them)? A coin flip?

I know for a fact that if cinco and hastings wind up tied for third, they are going to determine a playoff spot with a coin flip, about as embarassing for the UIL and belittling for all the coaches and players who busted their butts all season a tie-breaker as there has have ever been.

what would be the real injustice -- far worse than all the katy fans growling about a split district title -- would be if strake tanked out at 0-2 the rest of the way and goes into the playoffs 4-2 while cinco splits and doesn't make the post-season at 3-3 knowing they missed a game with hastings (a potential W) while strake didnt play katy (a likely L).

Knight, how come in all your scenarios Strake goes 0-2? How about one where Strake goes 2-0 and Katy goes 0-2, that would clear up MOST of the controversy about the make-up games... No?

Has hell frozen over? I think he was doing scenarios that would be possible and create a mess. Strake will beat Elsik and be in the playoffs. Could be high scoring. Elsik's offense is decent, but the defense is awful.

drake, he was positing scenarios that would eliminate strake from the playoff hunt, which was the topic of debate. and how likely is it for katy to to 0-2? not very

Once again, despite your insistence, my post had nothing to do with Katy High School, I was curious as to if the other Strake poster was correct in saying they had already clinched a playoff spot as was declared in his green text sig. That's why I raised the scenarios in question -- you might try actually reading all of the previous messages, just not the ones you want to scream about. ;)
